Gray looks unnatural for the map.

Perhaps if you make them gray but give them a texture similar to the watercolour...

this shit is straight fire. you should add a title in the top right which'd give you a chance to make it more uniquely Russian, or do something. now it's just "old-style"

Hmm yes... title... I need to do that.

Something just occurred to me, what about thinner rails? Perhaps the reason they're getting all messed up with the borders is because they're essentially the same.

very good graphics =D>
just a readability suggestion
put some real white under white armies in the map
so they stand out from the general bg colour
as did the red armies
maybe can you also strengthen the red ones also

Hmm... yes. That might work out very well. I can't believe I didn't reference it before. Thanks for the tip.

I like the map. :)
Can I suggest to find a way to differentiate a bit more the rails and the region borders? O:)

OK, here is a little half update with some experimental rails. Personally, I'm liking how the one in the Baltics looks. Maybe the Petrograd-Moscow one with the thinner ties, though I need to get those to be more straight.

Minsk - Moscow looks the nicest, Wilno - Petrograd seems too dark.

What he said! But I wouldn't worry about getting the ties straight, as they fit with the rest of the map IMHO ;)

Yeah the two Petrograd lines are good, and you could go with either.

My mouse broke... stay tuned for the changed rails. Doing that is damn near impossible with a track pad.

shouldn't the map have a title with a bit of artwork?

Yes it should have a title with a little bit of artwork... but I want to solve this train track mess first.

Speaking of which... i cannot for the life of me manage to draw train tracks with evenly spaced ties... masters of the railroad maps... please help me!
