It's just something my brain refuses to process, like legalese or the Cricket map.

room temperature is 25C, water freezes at 0C and fahrenheit is just the convoluted american way to stay detached from the rest of the world? ;)

Celsius are easy when you deal with them every day. ie you know how much is "hot" on Celsius and what is "cold" there. I have the same problem for Fahrenheit. Miles and inches are easier - the conversion is easy. But those Fahrenheit ... awww.

As for the km, cm, celsius - it is a C system, so as a tech person myself I cannot thing why anyone would want to measure something in another system that even takes more numbers to remember (76cm is one number, where 2"6 are two).

By the way liter is not a C unit, 1 liter is 10cm^3 and only for water it weight 1kg and only in normal environment.

You'd have loved the old Pounds, Shillings and Pence (LSD) monetary system that I grew up with in the UK until decimalisation came along.

12 pennies = 1 shilling
20 shillings = 1 pound

So in the old system, there were 240 pence in a pound. After decimalisation our new currency , logically, had 100p per pound.

There were fabulous old coins in those days though. A farthing (1/4 of a penny), a halfpenny (ha'penny), penny, threepence, sixpence, a shilling, a half crown (two shillings and sixpence, written 2/6-). It all changed in the early 70s, thus I was lucky as my prep school had been teaching us both old and new systems. Some of the older folk were totally confused (all of a sudden a new penny was worth 2.4 times as much as the previous penny).

Ah good times.

(and yes Dakes you are right, the litre is not an official SI unit but it is recognised for use with the SI)

It depends on where you measure it, cause it is different in equador from the poles. But yes, in physic we use 1liter= 10cm^3.

What an experience! It's a gorgeous spot, it's too bad you weren't able to enjoy it.

I'm with Incan, celsius makes no sense to me, but "hottest day of the year" is pretty descriptive.

The thought of something intelligent existing outside of America is simply laughable.

Thanks for the update, Iron Maid. It's over already? It seems like only yesterday we just getting started..

show: the memories

In seriousness, it's been a privilege to play you, TOFU, in what turns out to be your last challenge as a competitive clan. It is a little sad that such a great competitive clan is ending, but it is also the beginning of a great social clan. ;) Good luck to you all.

I'm not sure what to say, so I'll let Frankie sing it for me instead. From the last verse of 'Thanks for the Memories'

I know it’s a fallacy
That grown men never cry
Baby, that’s a lie
We had our bed of roses
But forgot that roses die
And thank you so much

Moved to completed. Privs removed. Dropbox updated. Medals issued.

Oh, and a big "screw you" to Steve and Si for not only switching clans, but for switching after the challenge but before medals were issued, to the clan that just beat them! I had a hell of a time balancing the games for medals...bitches ;) I swear. I caught Si right away...but for some reason I thought Steve was in Empire the whole time and I just couldn't get the game numbers to reconcile. So I ended up just randomly deleting players until the games balanced. Don't let it happen again fellas 8-)
