I'm just throwing it out there as an option, i really dont know how it would play out to be honest. It would be a lot longer of a game thats for sure and it would open up other possibilites of win options...

1v1 would surely suffer from such a change. games would last much longer, they would probably lead to more stalemates and generally speaking they would not provide as much fun as now

Of course, this is beta, so I don't see why we can't give it a shot ;) Though I think I want to get the neutrals more squared away.

I wanna play a few more 1v1 speeders, but I have an idea of what changes I will make.

To get round the problem of one team or player getting a safe drop because they are the only ones who can hit the Alien or Human Tech level 1 while being able to disrupt the other Tech level 1, you could try the following:

Have tier 2 of the Level one Techs able to assault or bombard each other, I would go with bombard.
Or have the DNA labs and Nukes able to Bombard the Tech level 1 of the Tech type that they can assault.

I like the (bolded) suggestion.

Instead of that, can we go with the first tier of tech level two can assault up the chain to level 1? That way your bonus is protected for at least a round

tbio can attack up to vats. That way there are a few more neutrals in the way to protect your bonus.

Alrighty, so s3xt0y and I talked over some things in our Speeder, and I think this would be a good optimization of the neutral set-ups we've tried out:

This is in addition to Tech Level 2 row 1 being able to one-way assault Tech Level 1 row 2. This should help those unbalanced Doubles games a bit. Thanks s3xt0y for suggesting this!

Here's the XML to go with the update if you like it, DiM. Just make sure to add in the arrows to reflect the new one-way attacks.

Cool. Just a couple nitpicks, though:
  • The arrow @ TGEO isn't centered.
  • The arrows should go from the edge of the tech pair outline to the edge of the troop oval to match the other arrows.
  • I wonder if it would look better to make the new one-way connections yellow and red, to match the colors of their respective Tech Level 2s, much like the other arrows and their Tech Level 3s, if that makes sense.

Neutrals really need to be updated... it's too easy to make an elimination in round 3 or 4 right now...
