If you had to convert to a different religious faith....

Postby Gillipig on Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:50 am

which would you choose? I don't think I could actually start believing in any religion but if I had to convert it would be to Norse Paganism. No Pope, no priests and a promise that if I die in battle I'll get to go to Valhall, where you basically party in all eternity. The mead flows and the meat is bloody. Now that's a mans paradise, unlike the christian paradise where you lay bored on clouds and have to listen to your relatives gossip in eternity. Sounds more like a hell than a haven.

I'd convert to the religion I created in elementary school. I think it was a rip off of Norse and Greek mythologies, mixing in some ideas from other faiths. I don't remember what it was called, but I remember human beings were called emuns.

Sounds like a good choice.

Yep. Buddhism is my favorite of those mostly because of the great respect for non-human animals.

Did you know that buddhist monks could eat the flesh of animals?

We already had this thread with a poll. Saxi wouldn't let me become a Jain though. Thanks to Gillipig, I have converted to Jainism.

Can I pick agnostic? I know it isn't really a faith, but its much easier to defend philosophically than most other options.

Polls are overrated. And saxi is overrated. Get your entertainment from my threads instead. Speak your mind without facing scrutiny and feel free to eat from the big pile of cookies on the table over there. BBS will serve you milk if you're thirsty. I hope everyone is having a good time.

If by agnostic you mean the standpoint that there's a 50-50 chance of a god either existing or not, then yes. But you can't keep believing that a god is improbable and just change the title you wish to call your stance. That wouldn't really be a conversion would it?

That may be true, but what happens if you don't die in battle?

Also,

What are the chances of you personally dying in battle?

Hell, Valhalla sounds fun and all but I don't see myself getting the opportunity (thankfully) of dying in battle. If that's the only way to get to Valhalla, I'd be screwed.

Then you rot in the ground! I'd suggest you buy some armor and go raid a church, if you're lucky you'll have yourself a battle. If you die you'll go to Valhalla, if you live, you will have successfully raided a church, not bad either way.

Question. Is Dudeism a recognized religion for purposes of this poll?

There are some upsides as well. If one of your wifes is angry with you, you don't need to worry about sex refusal. And threesomes are easy to arrange. You better have a high income though, can't be cheap having multiple wifes.
