"First unread post"

I've looked through this forum and can't seem to find the answer so here it goes: Is there anyway you can view the first unread post without actually going into the thread?

I know that once you get into a thread where there's new posts you haven't yet read, you can click on "First unread post" near the top and it will take you there but how do you do it without actually going into the thread? Is this possible? Thanks.

Just to the left of the thread title, you'll see a little red icon (a little rectangle with an arrow). Click that.
