Auto-drop waiting games

Postby Donelladan on Fri Oct 10, 2014 6:42 am

Make players automatically drop all their waiting games after a defined period of inactivity.

I just joined a 12 players doubles games. I go to my partner wall to ask him to take care of read the chat so that we can discuss the strategy and then I noticed I can't post messages on his wall because he is inactive since a long time.

It seems he didn't play on CC since july this year.

I suggest that a player is automatically kicked out of all his waiting games after one month of inactivity.

Currently we have that system for speed games, after a certain times of inactivity you drop all your waiting speed games automatically. A similar system should be applied to 24h game as well.

Game 13335070

First player of this game is : mesbutterfly
On his wall one can see : Last visited: Tue Oct 22, 2013 9:51 pm

There is probably numerous other example of games in the waiting page with players that have gone inactive. Would someone join this doubles games they would have a deadbeat partner.

May someone consider kicking inactive players out of the waiting games ?

This should also be done for waiting games, I just saw couple of Assassin Saint Patrick's Day and Easter games still not filled.

If games don't fill within maximum 6 months, then they shouldn't be there.

I'd go for 1 month max.

If all the players waiting for the game are still active, why should the game be dropped? If they're willing to wait what's it hurting?

Completely agree with the original suggestion here though. Removing inactive players from waiting games makes a lot of sense.

Wow. I guess I thought that this was already a rule. I thought I remembered reading something about a time limit on games filling but I just checked the Game Options tab of The Game and you're right, those rules only apply to speed, private, and tournament games. I had no idea games could be out there for that long!

Sounds like a good idea to drop inactive players from waiting games after a month. But, I agree with Swifte that if the players are still active, and willing to wait, then let them.

cause those games will never get filled anyway and are misleading in the sense they add pages to join games section

agree drop inactive players after a month
certainly drop waiting games after a half year or less
I wish either my father or my mother, or indeed both of them as they were in duty both equally bound to it, had minded what they were about when....

If 2 player fog game, please allow 12 hour snap courtesy, or post what I could have seen.... Thank you

If it's filled with active players who are still around that would be very annoying. Some fill faster than others and as long as it's not filled with people who are gone, I think they can / would / should stay up and active for sign ups.

Far as the direct suggestion goes I would support it.

That's the happy medium that should happen. There is another suggestion on this that everybody agreed on as well. When is the next guaranteed suggestion implementation thing going to happen? This should definitely be included.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to run this up the flagpole?

And yes, certainly I would consider that suggestion. However I have learned that CC players have a wide variety of opinions about almost every idea, so we'd want to be convinced it didn't have unintended consequences.

Way to run it up the flagpole Fewnix!

BW is right though, we should try to think of some unintentional consequences this may have. Put yourself in the shoes of the player that has been inactive for a month or longer for a waiting game and then you are automatically dropped. Would this bother you if you came back?

Ginkapo, I was also thinking that there should be somebody overlooking the suggestion thread. Keeping it clean and on task like C&A's are. I wouldnt mind doing something like this but I already have my hands full as the unofficial game filler. I'm sure there is somebody up for the task though. Maybe a new suggestion thread?

So far no one find anything to object to the suggestion.
If you find one month is too short, we can discuss it. I think if someone does not log in for one month, he very probably doesn't care much about the game he has waiting.
The game could have start and he could have already deadbeated after 1 month.
I fail to see any problem this suggestion might cause.
