Update

Just one game remaining in Round 5, so we're on to Round 6. The field is still a decent-sized 14-player pool, with potentially 1 more player advancing. However, this time, close to a third of the players are starting the round without immunity.

As the pool starts getting smaller, the chances of playing the same map in subsequent rounds does increase, so don't be surprised if you end up playing the same maps as before!

In other news, JPlo64 loses his lead in the most number of wins, as he failed to win any games in Round 5, making him vulnerable with no immunity in Round 6. He'll have to return to form and pull off another stellar performance to stay in the tournament! Meanwhile, grt takes over the leaderboard with 11 wins in total. iAmCaffeine follows closely behind, tying with JPlo64 at 10 wins each.

Re: Masters of Assassin [TPA5 Major] (Round 7)

Postby anamainiacks on Thu Aug 20, 2015 11:37 am

Update

3 games are left ongoing in Round 6, while 1 player still seeks a win in any of those 3 games to advance to Round 7, and 4 others attempt to win one to advance without using up an existing immunity. Meanwhile, the 12 players with their guaranteed spots in Round 7 have commenced some of their games.

In highlights of Round 6 action, grt is the first player to eliminate the wrong target in the tournament, the consequences of which are that he has to have 2 more wins in the round to advance to the next round. He has since attained 1 win, while he seeks his second win.

As a result of this, iAmCaffeine takes over as the player with the most wins, rising to 12 wins in total. Just below him, there is a 3-way tie for 2nd most wins, among grt, JPlo64 and stealth99. Of course, this could possibly change as a result of the remaining 3 games.

With 12 (possibly 13) players remaining, this means that half of the current pool of players will be finalists in due time - though it might get some time to get there! Keep fighting!

Re: Masters of Assassin [TPA5 Major] (Round 8)

Postby anamainiacks on Sun Sep 06, 2015 11:08 am

Update

Just 2 games left in Round 7, one of which has 3 players fighting to stay in the tournament. Aside from that, we have 9 players that have guaranteed spots in Round 8. Only a few more players to be eliminated before we get to the finals! If all players without immunity are eliminated in Round 8, we'd technically have our finalists.

Round 7 saw some players stepping up their game, with Butters1919, Teflon Kris and Tobikera clinching 2 wins apiece, inching closer to the players with the most wins currently. iAmCaffeine holds on to his spot as the player with most wins with 14 wins, while the 3-way tie for 2nd place continues with grt, JPlo64 and stealth99 having 12 wins each.

Just to clarify, does the immunity column detail when our immunity was used, or when it was obtained?

That refers to when it was obtained. So for example, you, stealth99 and Teflon Kris obtained your immunities in Round 1, and have been holding on to it since then; magneto_acolyte just received his in Round 7 for winning his game.

The use of an immunity is indicated in the individual scores for the round, if an empty box (zero wins) is highlighted light yellow. For example, sempaispellcheck used immunities in Round 3 and 6, and the "Used" column accordingly reflects 2 immunities used.

Re: Masters of Assassin [TPA5 Major] (Round 9)

Postby anamainiacks on Fri Sep 25, 2015 9:23 pm

Update

Round 8 is wrapping up with just 1 game left ongoing, but all players involved have already booked their spots in the next round. As such, Round 9's games are now all out in full swing, with only 8 players left in the mix - 2 more eliminations, and we'll have our finalists! 4 or 5 players (depending on the last game's result) will be going into Round 9 with immunities, so the finals might just happen after this.

The competition has clearly stiffened, as the wins were more spread out across the board this time. Only 2 players, Tobikera and stealth99, were able to pull off multiple wins this round; while Tobikera was the only player who managed to win their home game, clearly stepping up his game in recent rounds.

Round 8 saw the elimination of 10th place finisher sempaispellcheck, who lasted this deep into the tournament due to earlier reliable wins from his home map, and multiply immunities; as well as 9th place finisher grt, who at the end of Round 5 was the player with the most wins, but eliminated a wrong target in Round 6 and has struggled to keep up since then, but leaves the tournament with 12 wins - more than what half the remaining players have achieved at this point.

iAmCaffeine still stays at the front of the pack with the most wins at 15, while stealth99 closes the gap behind him with 14 wins. JPlo64 continues with 13 wins, while Tobikera leapfrogs into 4th most wins with 12 wins. (I stress again that total wins don't help you win the tournament - this is purely for trivial fun information. Only wins in the finals will count towards winning the tournament, unless there's a tie.)

Re: Masters of Assassin [TPA5 Major] (Round 10)

Postby anamainiacks on Wed Oct 14, 2015 9:29 am

Update

Round 9 is fully wrapped up, and we move into Round 10. It's likely to be the last round before the finals as we are just 1 elimination away from moving into the finals - unless of course, somehow everyone manages to win a game. It's interesting to note that every player with an immunity hasn't had to use it before; while every player without immunity has had to use it once or twice to get to this stage.

Round 9 saw Butters1919 being eliminated in 8th place, after winning 10 games through his time in the tournament.

Not much changes took place with the count for most number of wins, though the top 3 players increase their lead over the others, with their totals of 17, 16 and 15 wins apiece now standing 3 wins ahead of the rest of the pack, who are mostly tied at 12 wins apiece.

Update

The tournament now moves into the finals, after magneto_acolyte deadbeated from his remaining games, without a win from his other completed games. While the last 2 games for Round 10 are still ongoing, all remaining 6 players have secured their spots in the finals either by wins or by immunity. As such, the first set of the Finals are now out.

The first set consists of each finalist's home map - which I'm sure most players might be sick of by now, seeing how many times they've played each other's maps... haha. But all games now are 6-player games, which might change the dynamics of the game, albeit slightly. The next two sets will be sent out when the current set is mostly completed, and will feature randomly chosen maps from the list of eliminated players' home maps.

Just a reminder, that home ground wins no longer carry any advantage other than the fact that it's a map you chose; and the winner is chosen based on the results in the Finals - prior rounds have no consequence other than for tiebreakers.

Good luck to all finalists!

Update

djelebert draws first blood in the finals, with his win on stealth99's home map! These games have understandably been taking longer, since there are now 6 players per game. So there's still a long way to go before the end of the finals! 17 more wins out to be claimed.

Also, while I initially said I'd send out the games in 3 sets, I've decided that it'll be better if I send them out on a rolling basis. Meaning once a game is completed, a new game will be sent out, and the game load will be kept constant at 6 games. This would help to speed up the process, and also prevent situations where the finalists' game load may get too high. In the off-chance that 6 ongoing games is too much for any of you guys, and you want it to be maintained at 5, please feel free to let me know! I'm happy to accommodate.

Update

Set 1 of the finals is complete, and all games for Set 2 have been sent out. With the first 6 games, we currently have 4 players with at least 1 win on the board, with djelebert and Tobikera currently having a minor lead with 2 wins each. It's interesting to note that these 2 players had 2 of the 3 lowest total wins going into the finals.

That said, we're only through a third of the way through the finals, so with 12 more games to come, anything could happen. Wins could come unexpectedly, if the player before you goes for the kill and fails, etc. (which is why the player order is randomised for every game). A player could even make an unexpected sweep of 6 games to clinch the victory from behind, so anything can happen.

Good luck for Set 2!

Update

The next 6 games in the finals have come to a close, and the invites for the last of the finals games have been sent. All that's left is for the remaining 6 games to be played out to completion.

As mentioned in the earlier update, anything can happen in these finals, and that indeed came to pass as the 2 players who failed to crack any wins in the first set - Teflon Kris and JPlo64 - then went on to win the next 5 games between them, and now sit in 1st and 3rd place on the scoreboard respectively. djelebert sits between them in 2nd place with 3 wins thus far.

Just a reminder, tiebreaker rules will be applied for tied scores in the final. And based on those tiebreaker rules, the order of things would be:
  1. iAmCaffeine
  2. stealth99
  3. JPlo64
  4. Tobikera
  5. Teflon Kris
  6. djelebert
i.e. if there are ties, you will be placed higher if your name appears higher on this list.

Good luck in the last 6 games!

Update

After 9 months of Assassin games, the finals have ended with Teflon Kris taking home the title of Master of Assassin.

Despite being tied for the lowest total number of wins going into the finals, Teflon Kris still managed to pull off the win in the finals by winning 5 games, almost a third of the number that was played in the finals. Having kept his immunity from Round 1 of the tournament, never going a round without a win, he is certainly a deserving champion. In fact, it might be his Random map as his home map that helped him in the finals, showing his ability to take home the win on any map thrown at him.

CONGRATULATIONS, TEFLON KRIS!!! =D> =D> =D>
