Foe List Functionality Added For Global Chat

Since the beginning of Conquer Club, it has been possible to spare yourself contact with annoying people in game chat or in the forums by using the Foe button. Now that functionality has been extended to the Global Chat area. If you have someone foed, you will be able to avoid seeing their posts in Global. If you've been avoiding Global Chat because you don't like some of the people there, now may be time to give it a second chance.

Remember, after foeing someone you need to log out and back in for it to take effect. You must actually log out, not just close the window. There may still be bugs in the system; please be patient and follow normal bug-reporting procedures.

Have just ran a few tests and this is what I found.

If you "MUTE" someone in Global, they are still muted for your current session.
If you log out and back in, the mute is gone and you can read all that was said.
So no change there.

If you "FOE" someone, yes I can confirm that you will see their chat until you log out and back in.
If you "UNFOE" someone, log out and back in, you still cannot see what they have typed.
So it seems that all messages from a FOE, will not be able to be retrieved.

Unfortunately, as a chatmod, foeing them would be counterproductive, but I'd love to use it. XD!

So I ventured back in, turned on Global Chat, and every time I look in the last couple of daiys, it is:

People yelling at each other over childish stuff.

I turned it back off.

That's the whole point. You can foe the idiots and the 20% of chat that's positive will be the only thing you see.

I foed the six or seven worst offenders on the first day this feature became active; my chats have been pleasant since. I'm blissfully unaware of the roiling shit in the background.

horrible analogy aside, I agree w/ vegetable lasagne on this. u should be able to foe according to your needs : I have foed for retarded gameplay, but never for something someone has said, yet. foeing should have a game/forum/chat option, imo. anyone else out there lol when they saw this get implemented before the myriad of other, more important suggestions? it must have been really easy to do...

Apparently it was quite tricky. GC is a completely different type of software than the forums that the foe function was originally designed for. Nonetheless it was necessary and they got it done. The Chorus of Hate was driving people away from GC in droves. GC is supposed to be a friendly place where people can get to know each other and have some friendly banter. Being bombarded 24/7 with hate-filled alt-right propaganda is not what most of us signed up for.

Even at that, it will take a long time to fix the situation. Hundreds of people have turned off GC and it will take months or years before all of them decide to give it a second chance. A lot of damage has been done, but with a bit of luck and a lot of perseverance the healing can begin now.
