Superhero TV Series you might not have seen

Postby Symmetry on Sun Aug 20, 2017 6:02 am

So- the Defenders came out. Maybe you watched it and maybe you haven't.

Here's a post for people to post some of the more interesting stuff that isn't so... meh. In no particular order...

1) Misfits

Why?- Teenage superheroes aren't gonna be like Spider-Man

2) Alphas

Why?- It's X-Men, but with better characterisation.

3) Legion

Why- The only show with Marvel attached to it's name that really stands out. Whatever you think it's gonna be like before you go in- it's not like that. Unless you think it's gonna be weird, then yes. It's gonna be weird.

Anybody got anything else to add to the list?

Jessica Jones is my favorite. Awesome anti-hero, great intrigue and an absolutely perfect villain.

Greatest American Superhero - First episode date: March 18, 1981

They don't make shows like that anymore ... Thank goodness!

I liked misfits until about the guy who controlled milk, then i stopped watching (it was good seeing Barry in GoT). Alphas was okay, worth a watch through. Buddy told me about legion but i haven't seen it yet, don't really have tv anymore.

I've not seen any of the others like the marvel stuff, some people told me about them but they didn't really sound that great. My interest in tv has waned heavily.

Eh, not really following Marvel. Which means, yes, I'm following the DC CW shows. And we have two new series coming up, as well as the return of Young Justice. The two new ones are Black Lightning and Titans (confirmed to have Dick Greyson, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy so far). Both live action.
"Eh, whatever."

As a Marvel show, Legion is pretty much not at all what you'd expect. In fact, whatever you think it's going to be like based on it being Marvel- it's nothing like that at all. It's weird and trippy. Closer to some of the showrunner's other shows like Fargo. Don't expect costumes or epic fight scenes against big dumb bad guys and their henchmen. Just give the first episode or two a go- it never stops being crazy, but it does make more sense as it goes on.

I liked Jessica Jones too- though it could have done with a better editor. She's easily the best part of The Defenders.

MIsfits is worth sticking with- the entire cast changes, but the replacements are pretty fun. Don't know if you watch Preacher, but you'll recognise some faces.

More shows should individually introduce characters during an intro song

I fear it is a lost art:

I'm struggling to finish up The Iron Fist. Whoever plays Iron Fist sucks... like big time. I can act better than he can. The storyline is brutal. The best character is the son of the business owner.

Daredevil Season 1 - good
Daredevil Season 2 - great
Jessica Jones - best
Luke Cage - great
Iron Fist - shit

The Defenders is mostly a follow on from Iron Fist. It's ok by the end, but if you have better things to watch, don't watch it out of a sense of completion.

Then again, I think you got your Daredevil seasons mixed up.
