Gilligan,

Are you watching the games for results, or do you want us to post as the games end?

So do I. :D

I would have to say though, most of my previous 1v1 games have started/ended badly.
But for these first 8 games I think I started with 6 of them going first. \:D/

GL everyone.

One more win and DresdenSooner advances to the next round!

Good luck to elmster, who must win 3 out of 3 to be able to advance, then there will be a tiebreaker.

I have won 5 games against he who shall not be named (lord voldemort)

indochina, rail, canada, great lakes, and montreal

I'm about to lose king of the mountains, and 8 thoughts

Circus maximus is up in the air, but I think I'm going to win that too.

I can't believe nobody pmed me about this. I helped with several of these and 8 Thoughts was my concept., granted, his art far exceeded my expectations and probably makes the map. :(

just noticed you had a link to the bracket. maybe it's too late to talk about it, but I don't think you set it up properly

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but this looks like the number one seed will play the number three seed if both win. And, on the same side of the bracket, the fifth and seventh will play.

I think you have this backwards. It should be setup in such a way that if the higher seed wins the second round setup would be

1v8
2v7
3v6
4v5

and the third round

1v4
2v3

and finally

1v2

this is why you seed. so that top players winning will meet in later rounds.

Myself and Fancy B are 4-2, with myself winning on Montreal, Circus Maximus, 8 Thoughts, and King of the Mountains, and Fancy B winning on Indochina and Canadia.

More to come later.

I don't like that at all. If I'm going to have to beat a top seed anyways, I'd prefer it to be earlier. The way it is now, I have to play 8 game series against cooks and cadets, where even when I win 7/8, I lose points. Tournaments should seed so that top players meet earlier, not later.

I tend to agree with Baldadonis, since tournaments are not just about winning and losing. I there were no points won or lost in a tournament on CC, then I would see the need to place higher seeds the way you said Edbeard.

Of the counter argument would be that if you win 6 or 7 of 8, you win more points than you lose, but I still agree with Baldadonis

I understand your view on points as I won 6 and probably only gained 10 points or so, but from a tournament point of view the setup is horrible.

any competitive tournament sets up the bracket in the way I described.

Did I set it up wrong? It's easily fixable. I apologize if I did. Can you tell me what is right? I'd rather set it up the correct way than the wrong way.

What Edbeard described is the correct way for a tournament to be set up so that the top rated teams are not playing each other in the early rounds. Like no one wants to see New England play Indianpolis in the first round of the NFL playoffs. Fortunately that won't happen.

FYI - I'm 3-4 (8 Thoughts and Canada and KTOM) vs (Vietnam and Montreal and Great lakes and Circus Maxmimus)

Only Rail USA left...

Edbeard, (or anyone) could you help me arrange the matches?

Match 1 (___ vs ____) Match 5 (___ vs ___)

Match 2 (___ vs ___) Match 6 (___ vs ___)

Match 3 (___ vs ___) Match 7 (___ vs ___)

Match 4 (___ vs ___) Match 8 (___ vs ___)

Think of that as the bracket I have set...

I really apologize for the inconvenience...
