Belgium

So this is Belgium as it is now, 10provinces and 1 capital province (brussel)
Every capital is divided in 'arrondissementen' (don't know how to translate)

that makes it 42 territorys and 11 continents.

Let me know what you think

Nice start gnome...i like the colours and the layout...not so keen on the legend, needs some work as it is too transparent for me...but nice work!

you mean you put them on top of the legend... go study your verbs lol.

I guess cairnswk is quite right, but I have another remark: why did you make 2 continents consisting of 1 country giving 1 and 2 army bonusses? It seems unfair to me, that when you start and you got Nijvel, you're doomed to win the game...

I think at that point the map is a bit too easy. You could better split it up. If you make it a 2 or a 3 bonus, either way is fine to me. It's just that you are far to lucky in deployments if you got that one.

Or you need to program it to a neutral all games, a solution too. But this way it doesn't work for me.

ya I'm still looking for the right bonuses, I just added them as an example, maybe I should make it 'vlaams brabant+waals brabant' bonus +4 and 'waals' brabant on it's own +1

Well I got everything from my own atlas and from wikipedia so I'm pretty sure everything is right...I tried to do everything as accurate as possible.

v4.0
details: switched layers to make legend readable
and changed waals brabant's bonus
Image

I think I need some more impassable borders to make the gameplay better,
anyone suggestions about these?

You're map is GREAT!

Postby MarVal on Sun Nov 11, 2007 2:18 pm

Hello Gnome,

Just as I was telling in earlier contact, you're map is GREAT! I like the style, backgrounds, colors, textures and borderlines. Also the images of "Manneken Pis" and "het Atomium". The legend with no "backgroundtable", I love it as it is transparent. Nice and original look.

About the gameplay. You can i.e. place impassible borders on Wallonië like some hills on it. That area has a lot of hills, so you can take them and make some borders impassible.

Some suggestions of mine:

1. Is it possible to make Halle-Vilvoorde, Leuven and Nijvel one continent and called it i.e. Vlaams-Waals Brabant? I like the bonus of Brussel.

2. About the names of the area of Wallonië (South-Belgium for those who don't know where Wallonië lies or see the map of BeNeLux ;-) ). Its a French Language area, so why aren't you put the French names on it?

But what I say in my first lines, I loved your map. With your Belgium map it makes the Low Lands area complete with the BeNeLux map already playable and the Netherlands in Final Forge. Its just waiting who will make the Luxembourgh map :-)

Not everyone here has English at a first language. [-X I like the map, though.

Well Mibi, long ago in the middle ages, Belgium was not a country as it is now.
It was divided in earldoms and there was also the earldom of Luxembourg (or something like that)
And that one separated itself from the rest and got independent.
When Belgium was made, it stayed on itself.
And nowadays Dutch people goes to Luxembourg to buy cars etc. because the tax is lower there

And Belgium also has a province that is called Luxembourg because that province was a part of the earldom but it was conquered by the Spanish along with the rest of Belgium...while a part of the earldom was never taken and stayed independent.

I think it's something like that...maybe there are some mistakes in my story...(actually this history would make a good map  )

Firstly, this is a nice start. In my opinion, this map needs much more impassibles. Other than that, I like the idea of having this many continents.

Keep up the good work!

1.It's a good idea...although I like having a lot of continents in the middle, it keeps te fight going...but It won't hurt to take Nijvel to the rest of brabant and just call the continent 'Brabant'

2.sure no problem, I'll see what it looks like and post you a dutch-french version

Belgium will never split...they can't split...The people doesn't want to split, only the government is acting crazy. And I'm sure Belgium is never merging together with the Netherlands...you don't have to believe what wikipedia says...I can also make some stuff like that...
