Having been gone from the ladder for many months, I was rereading the rules.
5. All games will be on Random maps. Each player is allowed to choose the settings for his/her home map/game. The CHALLENGER must create the third map/game with the following settings: Auto, Seq, Esc, Chained, Sunny, No Trench, No Turn Limit.
When last I played I got to choose a home map. Now I only get to choose home settings? Am I understanding correctly?

Yes. The reasoning behind all random maps is that the Ladder was originally conceived to not only help players learn and experience 1v1 play, but to also learn new maps. We saw that players would pick their favorite/best map as their home map and games were being decided on the random tie-breaker.
When the Ladder was reset this last time, I put out a survey and a majority of the players chose to go to all random maps for their matches.

ben's still whipping me mercilessly on his game but I got both of mine for the win so.... I'd like to challenge
russde with
Game 16222605 and
Game 16222606
I'd also like to toss something out there for everyone to think about for the next reset. Random only is a great idea. It's great for not having to choose which map might be best for you to win with, which might tend to kinda wear the shine off your favorite new map sooner than it would otherwise fade. I'd like for everyone to consider the idea of the long fall.
I asked to be placed at the bottom after finally actually winning the top rung and It's a great way to go imho. Rather than sitting up there fighting over the top seats, trying to get dibs first again and again, why not make the fall from the top go all the way to the bottom each time? I've come back up quite a ways in the small time since I fell to the bottom and it's a refreshing way to go. Gives you something to do rather than just sit and wait to get dibs.
Take the top and when you lose it, you start over at the bottom. Since we can now challenge 5 above us, you can really climb quickly if you have the luck of the dice, first go and/or the skilz. I love it. And now we return to our regularly scheduled insanity.
Thank you for your kind attention.

I got the match result and the new challenge recorded...
Your opinion of "re-climbing" the mountain gave me an idea for a new medal. We'll have to work out the kinks, but something like "Mountain Climber Medal' -- Go from the bottom to the top "x" number of times to receive a medal.

MG great idea, I'm liking the random maps idea, which got me thinking

tossing this idea out there, not really ladder minded one
how does say the soc group play one another , rotational wise an insteed of moving up/down ,
scoring game points as in each of the the games scores 3 points, a lose = 1 (or something like that)
Of course it would need approval an anyone keen

its just an idea so no biggie if not
............
Happy New Year everyone @ Soc
