Noup, It's our historic flag. Red is so called Red Croatia which is Today's Croatia, White is White Croatia which was our home in fifth century and blue is the Adriatic.

And our first red-white-blue flag comes from mid 17. century (thirty year war). Long before America.

I believe the Japanese won the America hosted "World Baseball Classic" That means the Japanese players are better than American players (which lost to Canada, a team of college players). And most of the Japanese players were playing in Japan as well.
