Pursuant to the argument pimpdave and I are having... who is the better superhero?

Batman

Pros - coolier costume, greatest supervillain ever (The Joker), awesome car and gadgets, super mysterious, super rich, mortal, Ivy League educated
Cons - dumb sidekick (Robin), lame villains generally (e.g. The Penguin), no super powers, went to Princeton

Superman

Pros - awesome super powers including flight, can kill Batman easily, second greatest supervillain ever (Lex Luthor), bad ass villains generally
Cons - immortal (sort of), lame costume, newspaper reporter with lame disguise

I didn't know Batman went to Princeton. Good thing I allowed vote changing in the poll.

Yo, I know this is derailing, but I loved that short-lived Flash tv show in the early 90s. Mark Hamill played the Trickster, or whatever that villain was that was a complete copy of the the Joker.

If you can find those episodes (BUT OF COURSE DO NOT ILLEGALLY DOWNLOAD IT BECAUSE THAT IS AGAINST THE LAW AND STUFF), 13 year-old me would be very interested.

I never saw the Flash TV show... Mark Hamill was good in those Batman episodes (not that I ever saw them or anything).

Also, the Flash sucks.

I again agree with Pimpdave for the 3rd time.

Bruce Wayne. Not Dick Grayson.

And by Superman I'm referring to Kal El. Not the imposter Supermen after The Death of Superman storyline.

Frank Miller Dark Knight type great detective Batman.

Not campy cheesy Batman of TV show fame.
He's great too though.

Yes... but which incarnation of Bruce Wayne?
Family Guy Bruce Wayne?

I've always hated Superman. Seriously, he's invincible, how lame is that? Part of the excitement comes when the hero is struggling and on the brink of defeat. For example, Spidey got his ass kicked all the time. Also, I don't really like DC comics.

That reminds me of one the latest episodes from the last season in Futurama where Fry draws his comic. At the end of the comic, he says something along the lines of "The earth is saved!" and Leela says "Well it was never in any real danger, he had pretty much ever super-power."

In that case, put Superman up against Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta (yes, I watched Dragob Ball GT). That would prove intresting. Possibly the end of the known universe, but interesting nonetheless.

Never watched it, but unless the aforementioned character had Kryptonite or the battle occurred outside of this solar system then Superman would win. Seriously, that's how lame it is. He can't be hurt.

I remember one of the Marvel/DC crossovers with the Hulk vs. Superman, and Superman "won." Which is dumb because the Hulk's strength has no upper bound. Anyway, they (authors) take the cheap route and Superman calms the Hulk. I wanted to see Superman get an ass whooping.

If you read World War Hulk (I did), you'll note that The Hulk literally cannot be killed unless he's calmed.

Marvel has better characters (generally) because they all have flaws and weaknesses.

Spidey is cooler than both those losers combined.

I haven't really read comics in a while, and I've never read that one. But I remember that the Hulk, though resistant to damage, could still be injured, especially by other super humans. Plus he's a normal human most of the time.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at.

SPOILER/NERD ALERT

A bunch of Marvel superguys get together (Mr. Fantastic, Professor X, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and one other guy whose name escapes me) and decide that The Hulk is too dangerous to remain on Earth. So they rig up a spaceship and launch Banner into space. Banner is really pissed to he turns into Hulk and doesn't change back. He lands on some random planet, eventually takes control of the planet and marries some alien chick. The spaceship Hulk came to the planet in explodes, killing everyone including his wife and unborn child, except Hulk and some of his buddies. Hulk and his buddies travel back to Earth, beat the crap out of all the superheroes and make them fight each other gladiator style. Someone (one of Hulk's normal friends) dies and Hulk turns back into Banner. The End.

END SPOILER/NERD ALERT

For one thing, I thought Superman gave Batman some Kryptonite in case he ever went crazy. In that case, wouldn't Batman automatically win? And as far as just comparing them, pretty much what TG said. Batman's on a whole other level of badass where Superman's just... overpowered.

Gogeta (well, Saiyans in general) is kind of like the Hulk in that regard. His strength has no real limit. The more he fights, the more powerful he becomes. The angrier he gets, the stronger he gets. The difference is that Gogetaa can fly, use a form of instant teleportation, and has trained under a god-like being that has the power to bring the dead back to life (amongst many other things). Actually, he defeated the evil version before, but still. And combine that with speed that, as best as I can describe, that makes the Flash look slow, and yeah, I think you'd have a hell of a battle there.

NERD ALERT

Batman has contingency plans for every person in the Justice League, including Superman. Thus, I'm fairly certain he has a way to beat Superman.
