tournament buy-in

What do you guys think of the idea of having a tournament buy-in? Not real money but points. Everyone in the tournament puts some of there points on the table and winner gets all (or maybe spread it out among the top x players). I realize that the winner of a tournament would win a lot of points along the way. And people who are eliminated lose points anyway, so this maybe this is a really stupid idea and I should not have hit post.

if the game used a seperate point system where this could be done, I'd play....

even if the current system would allow people to wager out points in a tournament, would it still take affect for the games in the tournament, or would only the points wagered change hands?

There is a pretty small chance that anything like this would ever happen. I can completely understand the appeal of a system such as this, especially when talking about tournaments, but the current system works just fine for what we all are doing.

For example, lackattack has already shut down the many cries by playes for a new scoring system; or at least he has for the time being (perhaps something will change in the future, guess we'll see).

I for one like the fact that simply by winning the tournament that player has more than likely improved their score over what they had when the originally entered.

This is definitely an interesting idea. I assume that everyone wagers the same amount of points - effectively making each game a flat rate game.

In order to do something like this, lack would have to incorporate "no points" and/or "flat rate" games - which he has not shown a desire to do.
