Resurrecting a Tournament

Well, I thought I'd be the first to ask for some help with a flailing tournament. I'm running the Ashes
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 184#671184, at the moment, and while the game creation is easy, getting players to join all the games is coming harder and harder, and not always working, or being responded to.
If anyone's got some spare time to come on board as a vice captain for a team (Australia or England) and help me distribute the workload, I'm still happy to do all the recording and game creation, it's just the pm's that are killing me.
Also, if you've got another tourney that needs help, post away here, and if you're able to help, do the same

Each round will have 10 Games
Alternating Batting and Bowling.
Every Elimination by a batting team is worth 25 runs.
A win is worth an extra 25 runs.
Every Elimination by a bowling team is worth -10 runs for the batter
Every win is worth -5 extra runs for the batter.
so
+75 for a win with both batters alive (+75)
+65 for a win with one batter alive (+75-10)
+5 for a loss with one bowler dead (+25-20)
-25 for a loss with no bowlers dead (-25)
Batting Team perspective:
Win (both alive) = 25 (bowler lost) + 25 (bowler lost) + 25 (win) = +75
Win (one alive) = 25 (bowler lost) + 25 (bowler lost) + 25 (win) - 10 (batter lost) = +65
Loss (one bowler left) = 25 (bowler lost) - 10 (batter lost) - 10 (batter lost)
- 5 (loss) = 0
Loss (two bowlers left) = - 10 (batter lost) - 10 (batter lost) - 5 (loss) = -25
I corrected your one math error [in bold] (which could change the standings significantly or not at all). I think it's easier to only use the one perspective and then you can just apply the reverse for the other perspective (Bowlers).
Here's my idea:
I assume that for reserves and new players you will no longer require them to be Aussie/English? If you open it up, I think the breakdown should go as follows:
English get anyone from Europe and the USA
Aussies get anyone from the rest of the world (Asia, Africa, S. America, Canada, Mexico).
I'm not sure that I would be able to be a vice captain [nor am I currently eligible] - that's a LOT of commitment

I don't think you should open it up for everyone. There is a great rivallry between the aussies and the english when it comes to ashes cricket. to allow anyone to play would mean losing the interest. You could always get new players by posting in tourny thread (and callout) something like. so the poms think they can thrash the aussies, come on lads what you gonna do about that? and of course vice versa.
Cricket scoring is a tough system to adapt to fit cc.

Yeah cheers, I'd noted the math error before when I was tallying scores, but I hadn't changed it in the post.
Only the batting team scores each round. the bowlers don't score runs. I know what I'm going to do, instead of having people as batters or bowlers, and each having 4 games, I'm going to spread the games out, have everyone bat and everyone bowl, it'll make the non-prem's easier to manage. Give them one and the prem's 3... that'll work. *hmm*
Give me a week to rethink this one. I"m sure I'll keep it going... just needs a bit of replanning

I noticed that somebody already offered you help in your tournament thread but if he backs off then let me know how I can help you (except with the scoring because it seems too hard for me

)
