The Koran - Can Any Non-Arabs Make Sense of This Shite?

I mean really - have any of you read it? It's like a cheap rip-off of the Old Testament, and i found one part where Mohammed actually mixes up the characters in quoting a story from it. How can anyone take this bullshit seriously? What am i missing? I'd ask Dear Abby, but she's afraid of terrorist reprisals since the Salmon Rushdie thing.

Historically, it actually is a cheap rip-off of the OT. So no, most of us don't take it seriously.

Evidently you can't be a citizen of most arab countries if you're non-muslim, which would make this an even more repressive religion than Catholicism. Don't we have any devout (or even nominal) Muslims here who might defend their beliefs? I have to say, after reading the Koran, it strikes me as a fooking comic book without the pictures. At least give us some pictures.

In all my time around these forums, I've never seen anyone who is openly Muslim. I don't know if this is due to a common anti-Islam sentiment, or just because there aren't any Muslims around. I'll agree that, taken literally, Islam is probably more repressive than most religions.

Not only repressive, but ridiculously violent. By "ridiculously" i mean that whenever i've tried to debate the issue with muslims, they are unable to defend their beliefs with any logical arguements, and so attempt to intimidate you with cursing, screaming, and finally (after working themselves up) with physical violence.
Btw, i haven't found one yet who could fight worth a shit either.

Heh, well, I haven't gotten to that point with any Muslims, so I can't comment. It does bring to mind those pictures of the dude holding the sign saying "Behead those who say Islam is a violent religion." I could never tell if it was photoshopped or not. Funny either way.
I'd say that the Koran and OT are both horrific texts as far as violence and repression go.

Yes the censorship of a little satire is far more important than getting rid of game cheats or explaining why the site is screwed.

it's because muslims aren't interested in world domination.*

Actually there are a few reasons why there aren't Muslims on the site:
1. Women are allowed to play CC
2. Auto Assault cubes are the work of the infidels
3. Suiciding is a NEGATIVE tag
4. Jesus Freak Clan sig scares them
5. DRS Clan Sig REALLY scares them
6. Can't grasp the concept that on World 2.1, US can't attack Iraq.
7. My avatar has scared them off.

What satire? Mr. Barunt is being serious, as he should be.

And, for the record, like barunt, I've read the Qu'ran.
Think of the most violent portions of the Old Testament, remove any sense of remorse for the loss of human life, and you've got a pretty good synopsis.
The primary difference being that Islam was all about spreading their religion (and by extension political ideology) by the sword, whereas the Jews were all about protecting their people by the sword. The aggressor predilection in Islam is what leads, in my opinion, to the oppressively violent incarnations of the religion, whereas the Jewish extremism tends to be more reclusive and exclusive in nature. The Christian extreme is, oddly enough, somewhere between those two.

In the two years that i've been here, i've seen Christianity bashed countless times, and that is permissable, as it should be within any bounds of freedom of speech and expression. Why should the same not apply to Islam? Why should this thread be locked? Evidently you are trying to outmod the mods.
People attack Christianity and refrain from attacking Islam because they are spineless pussies. Catholicism, the Religious Right, and various other carnival bastardizations of Christianity are repressive, hypocritical, and have nothing to do with the message that Jesus brought. They should be attacked and exposed.
Muslims are generally more apt to follow their bible, which is itself repressive and hypocritical, so the result is the same, and needs to be attacked and exposed. However, like i said it's much safer to go on bashing Christianity, so threads like this get much less attention, and some hysterical types get nervous and talk about locking. Buncha fooking pussies.

Good synopsis of Islam and Judaeism, but way off on the Christianity, unless you throw out the Bible and go with the traditions of the organized Christian church.
Jesus said "my kingdom is not of this world", therefore those professing to follow Him are hypocrites if they try to in any way seize power in this world, or force their way on others. The "Christian extreme" would, if following the scriptures, be a monastic existence where one would shun violence of any kind, and live a life of self denial.
The message of Mohammed, on the other hand, was to violently attack any who refused to accept his message. He not only raided caravans for goods and women, but consolidated his power finally by breaking a truce and wiping out his enemies on a holy day (Allah told him to). When he wanted his son's wife (his favorite, Aisha), he wrote a passage in the Koran to justify his taking her. That someone would fervently believe in and follow such a degraded ass clown absolutely boggles my mind.
