Questions to TDs, TOs & TEs

(Towards TDs and TEs) Firstly I plan on running a large tournament soon, (this is not a question), and I do not want to be running everything through one thread, I plan to have a monthly output of 1,100 games (subject to change), so the first question is am I allowed to use 7 threads for the information (6 X 20 people a thread "Hubs" and 1 Central Thread where everything runs through)?
(Towards all) Secondly, does anyone have a good template for a 120 player league, I have one for 20 players, and that's 23 Sheets (1 for standings, 1 for fixtures, 1 for statistics and the rest is Player by Player information for the rest of it to work (It's extremely messy so I'm not going to show you))
The only information it needs to store is how many wins the person has got, and needs to be processed on one sheet and needs to be entered quickly on the other, so any suggestions are accepted

That I cannot answer... I am not sure. But, if I remember correctly, I think the Monopoly had multiple threads, but don't hold me to it.

It is my opinion that you should be able to run your tournament in any way you feel fit.

Yes, simor talked with Steelhorse and explained the tournament and why we needed separate threads. Also we wanted to make sure that TDs know that we'll be doing it and that way there couldn't be any confusion/locking/merging if suddenly there were 7 threads instead if 1.

Monopoly did have multiple threads, but it is NOT an ideal way to do things. That is coming from a former TD. Not that my opinion really matters anymore.

All of you make very valid points. So, I'll throw in my two cents.
While it can be done, I tend to agree with Opt here. Running multiple threads for one tourney is doable, and the tournament organizer may be in complete understanding and control of what they're doing. However, it confuses the hell out of the participants who have no idea where to look to get info, or is just so aggravating to try to keep track of, that they eventually lose interest and give up...epecially in an extended tournament format such as the one proposed here.
In addition, it is a time-consuming,logistical nightmare for the organizer to maintain it. Are you sure you really want to jump into this endeavor? Cuz once you're in it, you're in it for the long haul.
I'll support you in whatever direction you wish to head in, but be prepared and extremely organized.

What's wrong with just making a bunch of posts on the 1st page that can each hold the information for a section of the tournament? Then, you could put a table of contents in the first post linking to each divisional post (like how the handbook is laid out).

As somebody who has actually run tournament in separate threads I'd like to say a few words.
First of all, as I don't know what max is planning then I can't say how badly he needs separate threads but in some cases having it like that really helps and works better both for organisers and players. And our case definitely was one of those because each board was almost like different tournament. I'll explain more about our
Monopoly tournament.
From organisers point of view it made things a lot easier because we could keep track of each board separately and collect actions in a simple way and every time we stored an action, we didn't have to check which board it is and it definitely saved a lot of time when collecting actions. Also, if we had the whole first page under boards and logs (including introduction post, rules etc) then it would have taken a lot more time to wait for all of it to load and find the right posts to edit. Of course, having an index would have eased it a bit but not as simple as it was like we had it.
From players point of view (of course, I can't be 100% sure but perhaps somebody who played in the tourney can agree/disagree) one thing was the same as organisers - waiting for all the boards/text to load would have taken a long time and it would have been just way too colorful, confusing and time consuming to find correct things. Second and more important thing for players was trading and following actions of what others did in their board. In some boards trading became an important part and if there are 40 people posting then the time and energy to go through all the posts would have definitely lowered the trading aspect because going through all the posts and finding necessary ones would have been a pain in the butt.
Finally I want to say that I agree with Gozar completely but at the same time agree with TDs (in a way at least) that people should think things thoroughly through (tongue twister or what?

) before making "sub" threads for their tournaments.

either that or google docs, with google docs I don't need to upload and I can just post a link so that is preferable
but with the other I understand more.

There is no problem with that side of things, but with 120 players and

The above being relevant

This is not going to be up until after christmas, and I have planned this through, by then I hope to only have 2 or 3 tournaments ongoing, then I have this tournament, which I may actually change the dynamics of by then (It probably will change into several smaller tournaments, followed by a larger one, actually considering this I am wondering whether a 16 player pilot tournament might be worth running

Forgot it before but remembered now after working another 1.5 hours on updating my Olympics tournament.
What I want to add that if you are planning something huge then make sure that you have at least 4-5 hours per week to update it properly and keep everything on track. For me, it took appr. 2-3 hours to prepare everything (even before tournament started) - introduction post with everything included and fully made excel sheets. If you have a lot of players and complicated setup (not a single elimination bracket/whatever) then collecting sign ups take your time, at least 15 minutes per day. When tournament starts then it takes at least 15-30 minutes per day to make games/check games/send reminders/send more reminders/send more more reminders/make replacements/updates/etc. Updating usually takes me 2-3 hours per week and that doesn't included reminders/replacements/just keeping an eye on everything.
I don't want to scare you but I'm telling you that prepare for a time consuming tournament
If you have any questions about larger & more complicated tournament then don't hesitate to PM me, maybe I have some advice to share.
