It is disgusting, but police are almost never held liable for damages in the course of doing their jobs. The guy who was mistaken for the bomber at the Atlanta Olympics wound up losing his job, etc and I don't believe was ever given a cent or even an apology.

At least she got an apology.

Police are necessary, but they can also be bullies with guns.

its sad now a days the cops just get called out for doing things wrong like they are not people and everthing they do should be perfect. but the people who break the law get how many second chances??? I definitely don't excuse drunk drivers or anyone else. That said, too many cops (and I am not speaking rhetorically here, I speak of individuals I know) either decided to become a cop because they already liked to bully people or wind up becoming jerks after they put on the badge.

Wrong again! They did not give her the chance to let them in.

You are probably not familiar with the difference between SWAT and ordinary police. SWAT teams go in first and ask questions later. However, they are supposed to have a pretty good idea they are right before doing so!

Furthermmore, in the US, you are supposed to have the right to refuse entry to any officer without a warrant.

oh right that whole thing about its my house and if i dont want to show you what in my house i do not have to excuss. yes i do know that. oh and by the way i did take government class in high school and i have taken two in collage. alright! the point i am try to make is if cops are surronding your house for over 2 hours shouting "GET OUT OF THE HOUSE" are you saying your going to sit there and say "they cant come in no search warrent and i am not going out there to say hey i am in here" its called common curdacy!!!!!. also alot of librals out there say you cant say the n word or racial slurles. well why do they jump on cops backs for doing there job?????. i know what rights you have i know them most likly better then you after all i am going to be a soc studies teacher.

take a look form the police officers responding to the scene NOT THE VICTOMES!!!!! you show up and everone tells you the suspect is stacked out in that house you sit around ordring him to get out when no one comes what do you do? "well joe lets call it a day he is not coming out ok" NO you go in and get him. in light of the information that you knew at the time and you act is all you need. later thay found out he was not in there by doing a search!!! yes i said they were doing there job

What they should have done is stayed there until they got a search warrant by presenting evidence that the suspect was probably inside the building. Hopefully, during this process, it would become clear that the suspect was somewhere else, but, if it didn't, at least they would be legally trashing the woman's apartment.

Oh, certainly. If a suspect is trying to dispose of evidence or has just been arrested, or the evidence is in plain view or in a mobile vehicle, etc. So, what exception applies to an apartment in which a criminal has (allegedly) been sitting harmlessly for hours?
