Welcome Comrades to the 92nd edition of the Dispatch
As the swirls of dust from the Pantheonic plethora swirl over my crawling skin I gaze blindly into the night. Is it there or not. Can it actually be a form appearing before my very eyes. The darkness is so dense that I am sure that my eyes are tricking me. If only I had listened to the multitude. If only I knew what I was looking at ... or it that I don't see because I know not what I want to see? If only there was a sign. A sign? A sign! That's it ... it's a sign! Too hard to make out the features in the gloom. Where's a carrot when you need one? Ah ... it's clearer now that I am closer to it. [Munches Easter carrot with uncharacteristic fervor.] What's this?

safariguy5 Freestyle Executive Yoshi Awards Update by DoomYoshi show
Hello Again Everyone. All the awards have been handed out since last I reported. Recent discussions in my clan forum have brought forth the idea of "Clan Player of the Year" as a nomination. However, we all know that the clan world can be a big popularity contest, and I am thinking of ways to do this with less bias. The simplest way I can think of is to have a closed "by pm" ballotting system where players each vote for 1 person not in their clan. Send me a message if you have any ideas about this: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A whole slew of new tournaments have finished, so let's look at some of the highlights and possible contenders for the prizes. Series:Tournament of Nations, AdamKeith; 5 B's, puppydog85; Alpha Beta, Viper; MINI CLAN WAR, TheCrown; Tournament/Innovation: Prime Time II, PaRKon; Unique Beta Battle, Jig; 6th Tier, deantursx; Battle of the Sexes, CBlake; Double Team Scramble, CBlake; 1v1 Master, iamkookerthanu; Sports: NFL, paulgamelb; CCFL Fantasy Football, mcshanester29; Euro 2008, Armandolas; Rescue: Yummy Yogurt, mcshanester29; HA Celebrates a New Job, Greenoaks; Of course, there are many other good tournaments. Let me know if I missed any that you think should make the long list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since Last I reported, I became a suggestions Mod! So now I (hopefully) have a better grasp on the king suggestions in the forum. I would like to plug my own suggestion again: Monthly Challenge Medals. Since the poll winner for April was Totally Random, April's challenge is:
Panda Express Rail Asia, no special rules required, all are welcome
except :
Must be 5-Player Terminator and No Spoils.
No 30-Round Limit allowed.
The scoring system is as follows:
1 point for every game that starts, 1 for every game that finishes.
1 point for every kill.
18 points are required for the challenge to be completed.
This is a much easier challenge than last time so hopefully we get more participants. Later tonight, I will generate the poll options for April. Remember, for games to count, they can't start for 5 more hours, but you can create the games now if you want.

Too much work? Too lazy to read through everything? No worries, you can always jump right into a game and ask for other players or the game runner to help guide you. What is "Mafia"? Mafia, for those of you that don't know, is a game that generally takes place in a town, where the townspeople have to determine who the mafia (or "scum") is and lynch them via a majority vote during the day and the mafia try to kill everyone at night and bluff their way out of getting killed by the town.Mafia News Golden Pantheon Mafia ended with a mafia win. Now get out there and investigate Mafia for yourself: viewforum.php?f=213 Advanced Roles and Strategy by safariguy5 We will be discussing a specific role gambit this issue.Vengeful Gambit What is It? The Vengeful Gambit refers to a LYLO situation with 1 Vengeful Townie, another town role, and a mafia player left. The Vengeful Townie can play scummily to draw a vote. If the other player quickhammers, then the townie shoots the scum player. If no hammer occurs, the vengeful townie continues to play scummily to draw the hammer and then shoots the first voter as that was probably the mafia player.Example Alice is the Vengeful Townie, and Bob and Jack are the other players remaining. Alice drops scumtells and Bob votes her. Jack follows with a quickhammer. Alice then shoots Jack as he would most likely be the mafia player. How to Use this Strategy This strategy relies on a LYLO situation with only 3 players left. Vengeful Townie is a reasonably uncommon role to begin with and a pretty common mafia fakeclaim, so this strategy also relies on the Vengeful Townie remaining incognito. Scummy play to draw attention really depends on the flow of the game, but the player should be able to determine what constitutes scummy play by the endgame and act accordingly.

Q. What's up? The sky Q. How many frogs are living in your den? 4, I'm the only ugly one. Q. What's your favorite kind of frog? Poisonous frog Q. What is your favorite fact about frogs? The one about being kissed by a princess. Q. Is it easy being green? Better green than pink Q. What is your favorite map? The rail maps Q. Marry me (loes)? Of course Q. Ass or breast man? Boob man Q. I (Ace Rimmer) don't know how long you've been a SoC instructor. Does it get old, or do you still find it enjoyable? Do you try to mix it up enough so you aren't always teaching the same thing? I have been too busy lately with KoRT leadership and being a MOW so teaching hasn't been a priority. But it's still enjoyable, especially when you are trying to help win a game for somebody and their reply is "wow I didn't think of that" or something similar. As for mixing it up, well there is always a map or setting that some friend or I want to learn. Q. Do you think josko would make a good teacher? He is a good teacher. Q. How often do you get students and privately you say "what a feckin moron"? Never Q. Will you submit your answers on time? I think so. I don't like being late or wasting people's time. Q. Is fishydance your CC wife since you are playing the merch's valentine tourney with her? Nope, luckily for her. Q. As a Frenchman, how upset are you with CC's refusal to implement a "surrender" button? lol I don't really get upset at online stuff, especially when it comes from morons like you. Q. Who do you prefer as your wife: Jane or Loes? I'll break the law and have them both. Q. Who do you prefer as your wife: Pirlo or Merch313? I saw a picture of Merch, so it's got to be Pirlo. Q. How did you come to be so awesome, man? Any tips for the rest of us? I don't think I'm awesome, but thanks. But seriously, for standard esc games, go to SoC to learn the basics. As for team games, communication is all and it's even better if you can take your turns with your partners or at least one of them. Q. Best game ever? Don't pay too much attention to any single game really. Winning my first dubs tourney with drunkmonkey was nice and winning CL4 was a bit special too. Q. If pirlo was a girl would you marry her? I'm easy, why not. Q. What's your best thing you cook? Anything fresh and seasonal Q. How much do you hate EW for excluding me (Foxglove) and fishy from this list? (I hope a lot, but in a friendly sort of way.) Don't mind him, I wouldn't mind adding you two to my harem. Q. Who is the best looking KORT girl? Pick wisely! They are all gorgeous and I love them all. Q. In Escalating Terminator, will you "pull the trigger" if you have a chance at a kill, even if there's not enough cards there for a re-cash? Not anymore, only winning the game counts these days. Unless I have no chance to win, then might as well take few points before dying. Q. What is the biggest obstacle n00bs face when coming to our site? Not sure since it's been a long time, but I would guess it would be the huge varieties of maps and settings? Q. How many times has Josko made you cry? Never but I almost foe him once. lol (I love him really, he is the best but can be a bit tense sometime but that is the price to pay to be that awesome.) Q. What is the best part of been a SOC member and the worst part? Best part is to see players improving, worst part is not to have the time I'd like to have lately to spend helping. Q. Do you do it for the fame, the glory or the warm fuzzy feeling of helping others? Or is it a cover to secretively nab up and coming clan members? The warm fuzzy feeling of helping others Q. What's the best joke about french people have told you on this site? Never heard a good one. Q. What are you doing in london and how long have you been there? I'm 1 hour away from London, Ipswich to be precise, and I have been in England for far too long. 20 years now, shit time passes quickly. Q. If you had to kick one person out of KORT, how would you break it to merch? Easy: you are out fucker. Q. During your free agency, you had numerous suitors. Why KORT? They were and still are the best clan around. Q. How many games or percentage have you carried your team when teaming with monkey? 150% Q. Where you get the name from? And is it Den the Frog or Dent he Frog Den for Denis, and frog because I'm French. Q. drunkmonkey wrote: merch313 wrote: How many games or percentage have you carried your team when teaming with monkey?
I don't think he can count that high.
Can you count that high? Unfortunately, I can. Q. How much is that little froggie in the window? Free Q. Are the French better lovers than fighters? Can't speak for all the french, but I much prefer to make love than fight.

ACC2 Update by Ickyketseddie show
Round 2 is finally coming to a close with 3 of the 4 semi-finalists decided, heres how things are shaping up. vs. Foed 32 - 30 MD Well as expected this came down to the wire and was decided in the end by a single game. As with any war that ends this close, congratulations are in order for both clans, but there can be only one winner, and on this occasion FOED takes it and will progress to the semi finals. vs. RA 30 - 30 PIGS Well i think its fair to say this is probably the closest result either clan is ever likely to have finishing 30-30 and the PIGS taking it thanks to the the Tie-break rule in the ACC competition. Again huge congratulations to both clans for having such a close contest, but for RA the road stops here. vs. TFFS 30 - 23 1RFG After a bit of a cumbersome start 1RFG lost a batch of games for not filling on them on time, and suffered having the majority of home games made as random as a further penalty. Add on to this that before this round a group of players left for pastures new, it wasn't the best start for them. However they've shown that they have depth and put up a serious challenge against the always competitive TFFS. Officially the score shows TFFS need only a single point to proceed to the semi's, and looking through the active games i think they'll get it, however given the circumstances 1RFG shouldn't take the loss too hard and i'm sure with better organisation will bounce back for their next challenge. vs. OSA 39 - 22 TNC As per the last report OSA are proceeding and presumably wathing closely for their upcoming opponents. So it looks like the semi-finals will be shaping up as follows: vs. vs. Get your bets in now, it's gonna be good!! CL5 Results and Table by qwert show
Here first table updates
Hello again my friends. Usually I say "and welcome to your favorite part of the Newsletter, War Games, where you can find information about CC Tournaments!" Unfortunately, I'm afraid I can't quite bring myself to present such a cheery front. It's my sad duty to report to you that the Tournament world on CC might soon be a thing of the past.
Just in the last few days, the new owners of CC have decided that the Tournaments database is absorbing too many server resources, and with no revenues to counterbalance the costs, is pure deadweight loss to CC. Furthermore, the running of free tournaments is a distraction from the serious business of promoting the Conquer Cup. Therefore, over the next few months the Tournaments Department will be dismantled, and only pay-to-play tournaments like the Conquer Cup will be permitted.
To all the people whom I have had the pleasure of playing with in CC Tournaments over the last two years I bid adieu. Thanks for the memories! Oh, and by the way,

Dukasaur Tournament Executive Tournament Tips by DaveH show: League Tournaments - part 4
In this article I will continue with the steps I am using to continue the 2012 NFL season tournament I picked up from flexmaster33. In the last article I explained the creation of lookup tables so that the points awarded to the winning and losing teams could be translated from the winning round. This created a table from which I created a list of teams and total points using the routine that I called "AddScores()". This routine formed a list of teams with winning and losing points added from which I manually formed the following summary; Note that I have highlighted the winning team - for my own information only. The master scorechart is shown below: To update this master scorechart, I need a routine that selects the starting row of the week's results. It then picks out, in turn, the winning team and score and the losing team and score. It then goes down the master scorechart to match the name of either team. The home or away points are added and also the number of wins or loses also.Code: Select all Sub Update() iResRowStart = InputBox("Enter the Starting Row Number of the Results:") 'select each matchup in turn and extract the winning and losing data For i = 0 To 15 aAwayTeam = Cells(iResRowStart + i, 3).Value aHomeTeam = Cells(iResRowStart + i, 5).Value iAwayScore = Cells(iResRowStart + i, 4).Value iHomeScore = Cells(iResRowStart + i, 6).Value For j = 3 To 34 'run down the team name column of the master scorechart If Cells(j, 3).Value = aAwayTeam Then 'an away team match Cells(j, 8).Value = Cells(j, 8).Value + iAwayScore 'update the home and away scores Cells(j, 9).Value = Cells(j, 9).Value + iHomeScore If iHomeScore > iAwayScore Then 'Home Win Cells(j, 5).Value = Cells(j, 5).Value + 1 ElseIf iHomeScore = iAwayScore Then 'Tied Cells(j, 6).Value = Cells(j, 6).Value + 1 Else 'Away Win Cells(j, 4).Value = Cells(j, 4).Value + 1 End If ElseIf Cells(j, 3).Value = aHomeTeam Then ' repeat as above but for a home team Cells(j, 8).Value = Cells(j, 8).Value + iHomeScore Cells(j, 9).Value = Cells(j, 9).Value + iAwayScore If iHomeScore > iAwayScore Then 'Home Win Cells(j, 4).Value = Cells(j, 4).Value + 1 ElseIf iHomeScore = iAwayScore Then 'Tied Cells(j, 6).Value = Cells(j, 6).Value + 1 Else 'Away Win Cells(j, 5).Value = Cells(j, 5).Value + 1 End If Else End If Next j Next i End Sub
One of the problems with a any routine such as this is if the team name is spelled incorrectly, in which case there will be missing data in the master scorechart. To check on this I tally the total scores in the week's results and check that, in updating it, twice this value has been added to the previous total (twice because each team score is recorded twice on the master scorechart). (These "tips" started off as ones that I used to make it a bit easier in managing my own tournaments. Now, I am looking at other types of tournaments and scoring systems by all you innovative TO's out there. So, if you have a unique scoring system that you would like me to have a go at automating, please let me know and I'll be pleased to try and assist. Any queries on the above I'll be glad to respond to of course. Please note that I use Excel 2003, so there may be variation in the menu instructions if you have other versions of Excel)

Featuring perhaps one of the strangest premises for a tournament (the TO has "a three-headed hydra nesting in the bathroom of [his] basement"!), this tournament features 8 ancient heroes, each with their own special abilities that affect the amount of points they receive for respective game settings throughout the tournament - Escalating, Flat Rate, Terminator and Quads. While I cannot vouch for the balance of these powers, I will still say that this is a tournament worth considering if you're looking for a breakaway from the usual tournaments of normal gameplay, and includes factors that change the dynamics of the tournament. For those that do join, I do hope you get to pick a hero that plays to your strengths!Game of Thrones by mint-murray - Freemium Friendly! For those of you who have a life outside CC ( ), and just can't get enough of Game of Thrones even after their season 3 premiere just yesterday, then this tournament is most definitely for you. This is the TO's maiden attempt at hosting a tournament, and he's certainly going big with it. Each round features maps pertaining to the themes set for the tournament - Tribes, Nations, Empires, Continents, Hemispheres and The Globe - each time expanding to a larger scope in global domination. Players who prove their ability to tend to, and conquer smaller territories at the start will be allowed to progress and attempt to do the same with the larger regions of conquest. After all, "he who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much".2nd Annual March Map-ness Tournament by Puddleglum - Premium Only. If you're still haven't got your fill of March Madness despite March having come to a close, then why not try to make it last longer by joining this March Mapness tournament? The tournament has a simple 1v1 structure, and utilises Random maps, meaning you're bound to encounter a wide variety of maps en route to the end. As you go further along in the tournament, you'll be required to show greater skill, with rounds increasing from best of one to best of three, and finally five. Reaching the end of it all will certainly be no mean feat! These are my picks, but if you don't like any of these go to the Create/Join a Tournament or Tournaments Tab and take a look at the many others waiting to be filled. If you're craving tourney action now, check out the Requests for Immediate Players section of the tournament forum. You can be playing very quickly after signing up as a reserve.

The sound of boots as the soldiers came down the walk began to grow, and although it had already been committed to memory I was hesitant to destroy the map. They are close, so close you can hear their voices, directing, plotting. "Three, over there. You two, around back, it must be found". The map, they want it more than anything. Will it be my only hope for survival, or my ultimate destruction. Should I keep it or completely destroy it forever. What should be done with the map?(??) Destroy the map: Fire, that's it, the only way, they can not have any part of it. As the door burst open the look of horror on their faces as the map went up in flames was amazing. A low guttural sound began to rise from him, arm stretched out grasping at thin air, as if his worst nightmare was actually coming true before his eyes. "Kill him now he screamed!!" Standing my ground as the rush of cold steal began to quickly close in I shouted, "Do that and it will be lost forever. Let me live and there is a chance you may know it again. The choice is yours." The soldiers stopped and looked back at him. It was his life that depended on their next action so they would leave it to him. "Stop" he yelled, unable to hide the sense of defeat pouring out of him. Quickly I was taken to the kingdom and held for interrogation. How I turned this into being General is a story for another day. Keep the map: I can see their stalking silhouettes passing by the window as the door is open. "Where is the map?", he screamed with a look of desperation only a marked man can make. "I have the map, it's in a safe place." "Give me the map or I will have you eaten by the dogs." There was no bluffing on his part, but I could not let them know where the map was. "It doesn't matter," he said "we know the map is here". Yes it was true, but they would need to tear this place apart board by board. "Tear this stinking place apart board by board" he snarled. And as his men began to destroy the small house, for the first time I knew they were going to find it. In that moment I heard the voice of a young soldier say "Here it is, I've found it!" And before the words escaped his mouth I could see the dogs being released. As the last breadth escaped my ravaged body he stood over me with a satisfied grin, "I'll see you in hell" he said. And so with a simple choice your fate was sealed, and thus the premise of The Great Community Map is born! It's that simple, with a series of questions and polls we will all decide the fate of Conquer Clubs next Classic map. What this map looks like, the direction it goes, it's gameplay, and how it ends. Every major detail will be voted on, and decided on, by the community. We are about to undertake the greatest community event know to man, you know what I mean. So get involved, vote, give feedback, and rally your troops behind what you think should be the next move for the map. But most importantly enjoy the ride.
The Great community map project. The Start show
.................... As you can see from Seamus76 initial idea, we in the foundry have decided to take this forward. So for the next two months, a lot of fun is going to be had in the foundry. Here is how it will work. Over the next few weeks, we will run a series of polls. All you have to do is vote for your favoured choice or choices. See, it is that easy. The first poll is already up and running. Each poll will run for about a week. At the end, a competition will be held to see who can make the best map from the set of criteria we have all set. Be warned though, each choice you make will effect the next polls options.Lets have some fun. To make this fun for all, we are going to be giving a few medals away each week and months. So you do not just come vote and run, each week, a player at the end of the month will receive a GC medal and 500 conquer credits . This medal will be called The Patrons Medal . To win this, all you need to do is say why you voted the way you did over the course of the month and generally participate within the thread. (2 months = 2 medals & credits) Some of you would of played the competitions I have been running in the dispatch over the last few months. Well, they have now been sent there. Each week, a simple fun competition or competitions will be run. Just look out for the post that has the competitions banner in it (the one above). A series of fast and furious tournaments will be run as well with maps chosen based on the results of the polls. You can enter these in the tournament thread and are open to everyone. But a GA medal will also be awarded to a player in these tournaments. You need to play in the tournament and be part of this thread to have a chance of winning it though. So while the action is taking place in the foundry, you can get all of the latest updates right here in the dispatch. Seamus76 has kindly agreed to keep you all informed of what is happened and what is coming up. Also, for the very latest, look out for this #GCCH in the twitter feed. It will let you know when all the best stuff is happening. Hope to see a lot of you take part in this. Remember to spread the word, bring a friend, as if you do not take part, how can you complain about the next Classic map.
