Haven't checked it out yet, but sounds cool.

One thing I wanted to point out was in your original post you said that you didn't know what command to use to run it in other OS's. It should be the same thing, no matter what the OS is.

You should be able to use the command:

java -jar MapAssist.jar


at the command line, provided the client has the JRE installed (http://java.sun.com).

For windows:

cmd or command or MS-DOS prompt

for linux, this can be done from the shell / terminal, such as Konsole (KDE). It shouldn't need root or superuser access.

Not sure about the Mac command prompt, but the command is the safe (yay for cross-platform!)

Also, Jota, would you be able to post what version of Java it was compiled with (I'm assuming 5 or 6).

i accidentally downloaded it, because i came here and accidentally clicked the link


edit: okay im confused, whats this thing supposed to do???

edit (again): okay, i have figured out how to use it and it makes it SO MUCH EASIER!!!!!!!! now i just have to complete my xml :)

i cant get this to work, i want to see what its like but nothing happens, it cant open the file or something - its .class or something???
how can i get this to work?

for me i just open the app first, then open my xml

im using OSX 10.5.2

i didnt extract anything, i just doubleclicked it and it came up

it works on xp but not on vista :(

i think i just installed that, yanno comuter updates and that. but ill re-install it.

can you give instructions from downloading it to using it yeti?

(im saying yeti coz ur the most technically knowledged guy i know! ;))

Once that's installed - then all you need to do is double click on the .jar file that you've just downloaded.

im scared now!

i downloaded the second link and that worked and the 1st time i downloaded it the "java" thing to open it with wasnt on the list. but thanks everyone for helping me get through this difficult time of my life ;)

You may have installed a JDK instead of a JRE...
