Mini-Mafia 2 [5/9] N3 - going quietly into the dark

The town was awoken in the middle of the night by intense heat. there was a fire in one part of the warehouse they were in. The sprinkler system was jammed and took a while to activate, so they evacuated the building. as they ran for the exits, they heard what sounded like a gunshot. When they returned, they found the burned bodies of three of their comrades. One also had a bullet-hole through his skull, and one appeared to have stab wounds. It was hard to tell because of the fire.

by a process of elimination, they were able to identify the charred remains as
thehippo8, town bodyguard
thechuck51, town busdriver
and
Nebuchadnezer, Mafia Godfather

Lord Voldemort came up innocent.

A couple of things. We have bullet wounds and stab wounds. We could have a serial killer.

God I hate the Meta Hippo has made for himself. It just hurts town more then it helps. I assume he protected me. He also said he had an added ability. With three dead I am not sure who killed who. Why three bodies?

There are any number of scenarios.

I am Town and Lord V is Town. if there are anymore investigative roles you need to step forward IF you saw somthing or got somthing.

i think neb wanted to kill IB, but IB was protected by hippo8 who was an elite bodyguard so besides dying to protect IB he also killed the assassin (neb).
and chuck was the victim of a serial killer.

Thats one possible scenario. It seems odd though that the Godfather would attempt the kill.

In more traditional games, the Godfather may be the final arbiter in who the Mafia kills that Night, and who is performing the kill. Alternatively, the Godfather may be the only Mafioso who can kill.

could this be the case here? would this mean that mafia can no longer kill? how would this work?

It goes both ways. In the games here on CC usually the Godfather comes up innocent in cop investigations. If that is the case why risk getting noticed?

ok, so i did more research and indeed there are quite a few scenarios involving a joat/an inventor/vigilante that would explain the 3 deaths.

That changes things. I doubt very much he would be a mason ed elite body guard. He said he had an extra ability NOT abilities.

Just edit the mason into the role description to make it less confusing if someone wants to go back and read up on things on day 4 or something.

Also: Awesome! The godfather is dead!

Considering that IB's claim is pretty much safe, that means LV is cleared. As such we have only 4 suspects left.

ok so i'd like to fos cms5 and militant for submarining.
cms has been logging in each day and even posting in other mafia games and all sorts of other threads except this one. his last post here was 6 days ago and it came after vodean said he'll prod him. also in the meantime he posted 29 times in other places. so he clearly has the time to post but for some reason not in this thread. i'm very suspicious about this.
as for militant he's simply very inactive. only 3 posts in the last 11 days. at least all 3 posts were in this game but still i find it too little. i'm less suspicious here since militant seems to be inactive everywhere not just this thread but still i don't like it.

I've been away for a while but does a serial killer usually have a knife and the mafia have a gun? With regard to speculation about how we had three deaths, I don't think it is worth it. Vodean said this would be a classic mafia game but we already have a bodyguard/mason and a possible serial killer so I don't think we'll be able to predict a whole lot. As for DiM's point about submarining, if cms5 has been posting elsewhere and seemingly been avoiding this thread then it is very suspicious and worthy of pressure (he might post soon anyway as Vodean has threatened a prod) . As for me, I told you in Jak's game my meta was to be somewhat lethargic, and I proved it to my embarrassment in that game. I'll re-read anyway.

As we have nine players, three are probably scum. One is dead so we have two left. If one is a serial killer as the scene seemed to suggest, the two don't know each other. Of the four possible candidates for today's lynch, two are town and the other two are scum. Supposing we lynch town today, and perhaps as many as two more die in the night (they'll kill the confirmed and the cop if lucky and don't both go for the same one), we'd have three left with one scum and as much information as we have now. If my assumptions are correct, no lynching would mean we'd have four alive tomorrow but it would still be lynch or lose because the scum could easily joint by forcing a no lynch. Therefore we must take our chances today and hope we hit scum so we'd have four alive with either the confirmed or the cop and we'd be in a much better position.

I just realize he could easily be mafia.

The bus driver could have switched me and LV, which would be the reason I got a Town on him.

So he is not clear.

With neb dying that means whoever hippo bodyguarded was targeted by scum. Though there is the bus driver...so its confusing. Means that the cops results could of been off.
