Disclaimer: I'm only about halfway through the thread at this point, but I'll EBWOP this later with more and hopefully come to a conclusion. That said, read this as unfinished.

Let's see how people reacted at the first implication of cult

Safari: Suggested it. Was accused of being cult. It was argued that he would not suggest it if he were cult, but this is a WIFOM argument and ca get tricky.

Also, just looking at the scene, I think there's a possible cult recruiter out there.

Could be McGill, could be the FW peeps, but we should definitely be aware of this.

I wouldn't say much more here, but here's a case from commander on Day 3.

Frankly, the cases on both safariguy and hank seem good. I'll unvote for now and think about who I believe is more scummy.

Ok, but the text didn't say anything about there being a recruiter, it just implied the hint of some sort of third party. Yet you jumped to the conclusion of recruiter immediately.

Also attempted to make it seem as though this was a more popular opinion than it actually was.

Most of us thought it was suspicious that safari jumped to cult recruiter so quickly, but there simply wasn't enough to go on to force a real bandwagon. If you would be willing to join in on such weak evidence, something is probably amiss.

Jeradoo: Brings the WIFOM element into the mix. Supports the probability of a recruiter.

Mets, my first thought was recruiting cult and saf is way more experienced than me. If there is a third party faction then either it would have to have a good few members probably at least 4, or recruit. My take on the scene flavour is that at the moment it isnt a great threat, but needs to be taken care of, which suggests it can grow. However I think the main point is that personally, I couldn't see saf raising it in that way, even as a clever ruse to seem innocent.

Jimfinn: Never directly stated his opinion, but suggested that the scene could imply that there was a recruiter.

Cult inherently implies recruiter, Metsfan, and he was listing as one possibility, not the definitive answer. Perhaps he also has some PR whose Role PM specifies anti-cult or something. It's not that suspect in my book. Setup specualtion is only suspicious when it avoids real discussion.

As for the players who've played a lot on here, what's the going meta with regard to cop, doc, vig, etc? One of each per game, or are no cop games common? Things like that do actually help at least some, especially for those unfamiliar with this site's version of mafia but experienced elsewhere.

If ljex had already left his position before that, then Squirrel is fakeclaiming.

I'm also of the opinion that if Squirrel flips cult recruiter, we lynch Safari, as his last post would look like an obvious attempt to protect Squirrel.

Before you pull the trigger, though, I think we should get a more thourough research on when ljex resigned. Victor is a mod so perhaps he can see when ljex last posted in the mod forums? And also check when Team CC decided to make a mafia (it was announced april 5th and I got my role PM april 7th)? Getting those dates can help know if ljex is a necessary fakeclaim or not.

And in the off chance that Squirrel is town, he should have a chance to claim all his 4 JOAT actions to perhaps aid us after he flips.

Cliff's notes: wait for Victor to confirm some things. If we rule ljex is a fakeclaim, give Squirrel a shot at claiming his actions and DK him anyway (unless his actions actually somehow clear him). Pretty much agreed with everything. Since there still is no deadline, he won't be shot before he gets a chance to talk a bit and before we hear from everyone.

I would like to point out that Dako was in this game and according to the award on his page, he was a mod until Mar. '11. This game started in April '11. Meaning, by your definition, he shouldn't be in this game either. See also Manbungalow and King Sam (who left even earlier). Same situation. Next time, do some research before you start pointing fingers. Finding out all of that took me 2 mins at most.

I think you misinterpreted my post. I thought Victor was talking about ljex as a player in this game, not ljex as a character. I didn't try to clear Mr. Squirrel, I was confused about the wording of the statement.

Looking at their medals is not the way to do it, and Dako, I believe, just has a sitter. king sam left recently, and ManBungalow was still a mod when he died in this game! I could be a mod for 11 months, but my medals would say I was only a mod for six, because they are only given out in increments of six months. Next time, do some research before you start pointing fingers. Finding all of that took me 30 seconds at most, because I know it from memory.

No harm done? The cult faction is growing daily and you are going to say that lynching a townie is "no harm done"? I still have my vote and that is one vote that the cult doesn't have. That is my value. My initial assessment of the roles might have been wrong (I'm no mod) but your disregard for the life of a townie, even a vanilla, is enough to warrant a vote anyway.

The simple solution is just to ask TSL if it is possible that former mods could have been used as roles. If he says yes, believe me. If he says no, you better make damn sure you have the exact dates right before you lynch me.

I know I haven't finished my full analysis, but his actions up to about page 30 and what I'm seeing right now indicate he's being very aggressive. I find that somewhat unsettling. Moreover, the aggression is pointed towards would-be cult recruiters. I see a pattern developing...
