Still, everyone seems to have rules about this, such as "don't vote for someone that has been voted for or you'll start a wagon, and we don't want that" (although I really don't know what you're afraid of...), and some even define it as a "stage" the game has to go through. And often a player is of the impression that at a certain point in time, "the joke vote stage is over". Probably because someone made a "joke" that went too far or someone cast a vote on someone who already had a vote, and everyone decides to wagon against this so-called scummy player.
There appears to be a guideline for Day 1 and how it's supposed to be handled. First off, we start with jokes until we get serious (however, nobody exactly knows when that will be, so we are not serious until someone steps up and shouts, "HEY YOU! the joke voting stage is over!"). Secondly, we don't want a lot of claims, but we do want to pressure people since there has to be a lynch, which seems hypocritical at the least, because pressure often leads to a claim (and there's frankly not much more to offer during a Day 1). And thirdly, if anyone even dares to suggest this is stupid while in an in-game context, said person is lynched for suggesting a no lynch, or for zealously defending what would be their scumbuddy (while these people statistically turn out to be town in the majority of the games). This is why I started a new topic about this.

A guideline that is apparently broken.
Can someone explain to me exactly what is the code of conduct during this day 1, and if this was it, then can someone please explain the point of it to me? I know the game has to go into Night 1 by some means, but I don't think that's supposed to happen with the regular amount of jokes, announcements of getting out of "the joke voting stage" and roleclaims.
