WM - sorry but I no longer have a copy of my small map. I only have the large. But here's the font I used. What I did for Charleston was duplicate each name, then move it over to the left 1 pixel. That gave it the bold look. But the pixel font looks good also as is without the bold.

And the font is available for free from: http://www.fontsforflash.com/ it's the Atlantis Trial font in the freebies section.

=======================================
(edit) .. ahh - I went back and read some more and understand the issue is with the pixel fonts themselves. Well, I have another suggestion then. I've recently been playing around with font settings, and I found a really really good small legible font setting is Lithos Pro. Check out the image below and see if this might work for you. Also, I've added a size=3, Opacity=9, Blend=Normal, Color=Black outer glow to the font.

Thanks RJ. I took the font that RJ used in Charleston but did not "bold" it.

Here is an animated gif. It contains the Gothic, Original Pixel, and 2 styles of the Atlantis Trial font seen above. One with and without a slight drop shadow.
Once we get an idea of which pixel font looks better, we will have a vote between that and the Gothic.

Well I think we will have a poll, Gothic vs RJ2
Once Killer can get the first post updated, we can setup a poll.

It's a white drop shadow, I believe, and I agree it's not good.

That might be because almost all the letters are A...

You should make both fonts have the same letters. It would be more fair that way, because right now people are thinking the Gothic is easier, when it might be just that they already know what the letter is, which aids comprehension. :)

I really messed up. I thought I did have a copy of gothic with all letters. I will post later

Whatever you did it worked. I can read it now. As a matter of fact, the Atlantic font is even more crisp than the Gothic . :D

Personally, I find the Atlantic easier to read, but I like the look of the Gothic a lot better. Much smoother. The Atlantic looks rather stamped on and sharp-edged. And I just noticed that I broke the tie in the poll... 8 to 8 just became 9 to 8, so it's pretty close as to how many people prefer each font...

Right now I just want the poll to get over with (3-4 more days I think)
I do like the Atlantic. It fits the feel and style I wanted. But if Gothic wins, then it wins and we move on.

Besides this, are there any other things people see that will affect the GFX stamp?
I just don't want to be sitting here for weeks and once the small font is set, someone come in and say to fix something else.

Thanks

I am interested to see what the map looks like with the color washed out. So that it is less assaulting on the eyes, once the armies are on the map. Just the color, not the black in the map, as that is needed at full strength. I know it will not look good until the armies are in place, so, it should be shown with them.

On the positive side WM, I don't see any other issues apart from the font...unless there is major gameplay issues which aren't really my department.

However to the second part of that comment WM, I would think that the map should be able to sit in the foundry for that same amount of time that it is taking to get our maps through this place at present.

I would hate to think that different treatment i.e. fasttracking was applied to your map simply because it has the stamp "WM" on it. At the rate the foundry moves these days, i would say that your map should be scheduled to arrive in BETA after New Year.
Get on the patience bandwagon, WM ;)

I beleive I have been more than patient. I have made changes and took peoples advice to make the small map work.
So I don't think I am getting better treatment cairns. I am simple referring to a statement that was made 6 pages ago on version 14 of the map.
MrBenn wrote:I expect your next update will be the one that gets the stamp ;-)

Since that statement, the font issues came up. I have corrected them. If that is true, then it would only seem to me that a stamp would be coming soon.
