i like it.

another oaktown masterpiece imo ... The Guy always combines simple + innovative=fun.

Nice graphics igo, nothing fancy and nice colours that really represent the regions.

nice map very playable
one suggestion though
each sea route should be a +1 it's four territories to hold
in comparaison to Salvador only 2 territories for a +1 bonus
De gueules à la tour d'argent ouverte, crénelée de trois pièces, sommée d'un donjon ajouré, crénelé de deux pièces
Gules an open tower silver, crenellated three parts, topped by a apertured turret, crenellated two parts

Thanks :)

Honestly, however, I don't see this being plausible. In the couple games I'm in, the south seems to be a very viable point to move out from. The Canal +1 only has two border territories to hold, and the third territory is shared with a +3. Making it essentially a +2 would be an even bigger advantage for anyone holding the +3 and both sea routes, on top of the already present advantage for mobility.

I'm open to hear other POVs, however!

agreed - Panama is strong enough without giving it an extra army for holding just one more territory (and and extra +2 for holding two territories). This is a case in which you have to consider not just the individual bonus for that group, but what happens when you start coupling bonuses.

Hi, just a little suggestion. I'm slightly "colour blind" as it's called, and I'm having issues distinguishing between the sea route icons. If one of them could be made darker that would be nice. Ofc, after a few games on the map one will *know* which is which, but all the same...
Good job with the map btw! looks great, playing first game atm =)

/AramA

Edit; I now realize that as the sea routes are on opposite coasts, it becomes pretty logical which go to which even if they were identical in colour, so I suppose you can disregard the above.

Most likely no one will care about this but San Jose does not touch the coast at all... don't feel too bad as Jurassic Park had the same problem.

Guanacaste would be more accurate.

I think the gameplay on this is pretty balanced. There are possibly some minor alterations that could be made, but nothing I can see that is worthy of holding this up any longer... It feels like it's been around a lifetime, so perhaps we can let the Jurassic reference sit as some sort of tribute to the monstrous (in a good way) competition map!

Do you also hold the "Pacific Sea Route" territory? If so, I can;t see any reason why chained would not let you make that fortification. My guess is that there was likely some sort of temporary glitch, or a user error? What was the game number, and which round did you try to make that fortification?

a spelling mistake in one of the region names: we have alténtida instead of atlántida in the xml and both of the maps.

Hola!
Nice map, game-wise, but a coupla minor issues that might already have been covered, I don't want to trawl through 20-plus pages, so apologies if these have already been brought up. And yes, I realise that this map is already out there, but just for pedantic accuracy :

First, it should be Atlántida, not Atléntida..
Second, the region labelled San José is not San José at all, if anything it's Guanacaste. As the map stands, San José is pretty much at the East point of the compass by Puntarenas port.
Third (and this would involve gameplay changes), the people of Limón would be very upset that they're not included as a seaport, as they have one of the largest seaports in the region.
And Bocas del Toro is huge on the map:) I like that artistic licence, seriously. Bocas itself is actually really really tiny. But I like that it gets writ large on the map, partly because thinking about it, I couldn't come up with anything better outside tricky indigenous nomenclature that would mystify, or something really dull and descriptive, and partly because it's a beautiful part of the world. So bravo for that.
But my other minor pedantic points stand, I think.
And if I were being an ultra pedant, I might quibble with the naming and size of Copán - call it Puerto Cortés and shrink it a bit, I would. But that's a minor thing.
Nice map, I hope that this criticism is seen in the constructive light that is meant, and I also realise that these words come far too late to make any difference anyway:)

Also too late and pedantic like above but - it doesn't state anywhere that the sea routes can attack the ports. I suppose it might seem obvious but I took the legend literally and was then rather surprised to discover that I'd lost all my bonuses.
Could be clearer.

Now that I read it again, I see what you mean. It could be interpreted as if the only point having the sea routes is to get the bonus.

Maybe MrBenn is around and still has the map files handy enough to change the text?
