I don't even own computer speakers. When I need to hear something I just plug in my headphones.

Sound Effects?

Postby zeros on Fri Jan 30, 2009 4:27 am

Having posted this under 'General', it has been suggested that this topic should be listed under 'Suggs and Bugs'. For those who've already seen this, please forgive me.

I am very new to this wonderful thing called Conquer Club. I am also very impressed with the level of thoroughness of the whole site. My previous experience of 'Risk' on the internet is limited to the relatively simple 'Attack' game on the Facebook site. But it did serve a purpose in that it rekindled my interest in the game which I played many years ago.

But in spite of the fantastic depth which Conquer Club offers - and really there is no real comparison; there is something the Facebook version does better! It has simple but very effective sound effects of explosions when attacks are made.

I wonder if one's gaming experience on Conquer Club would be further enhanced by adding an equivalent? -An optional extra 'add-on' with some Greasemonkey code perhaps so that those who prefer silence won't require ear plugs!?

-Given the level of input you get from so many people here on this site, I've little doubt that some clever code writer could create different types of sound effects for different events.

Can you give a argument for sound? I am not so sure I would like weird noises every time I assault...

To sailorseal:

Yes, I can give an argument for sound.

If it is an add on you would not get it unless you wanted it. And I for one, would like it! -For people like you who do not want it, it would make NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL!

Now can you give me an argument why it should not be an option?

(Before you answer, remember that if it is an add on, like BOB or the Dice Analyzer, it will make NO DIFFERENCE to people like you who choose not to install it).

Sailorseal: I wasn't spamming you, I was answering your question. If you don't like getting an answer don't ask a question.

And if you understand Greasemonkey, you'll know that your comment was irrelevant.

P.S. I wasn't (and am still not) being rude.

Sailorseal I notice you edited your post above; I have therefore edited this response to it. I hope that this matter and your incorrect suggestion about me to another member are now settled, thankyou.

If you would like this to be an add-on, someone must code it. To find someone to code this for you please visit the Plugins & Add-Ons forum.

Herakilla: If it is written as a user-script for Greasemonkey, it would only add loading time to those who'd decided to add it. Anyone who'd prefer to do without would not be affected at all.

Therefore, I say "let's have it as a choice, not to be forced upon anyone."

I was about to post that there are to threads about this and it should be a option, I would not want to wake anyone in my house up with a late night game...
