As you know, we've been making changes to the Forums and TeamCC lately. Now that Bugs have their own dedicated forum, and will soon have their own Team to help manage and control quirks, issues, and "did that just happen," it is only fitting for the Suggestions Team to get a boost, and the Suggestions forum to under go a little REVAMP as well.
Everyone is aware of the persistent issues in the Suggestions forum:
- The lack of "official" input from time to time on suggestions.
- Deadlining Suggestions or keeping things indefinitely on the "To-Do" list.
The new:
- We'll be ditching the "To-Do" list---too often do priorities change to keep something like this accurately update, and this lack of accurate updating only further adds to the persistent issues in this forum. So how will Suggestions work now? Here is the plan:
- Suggestions Forum (the current Main "Parent" forum) -- This will be where all new Suggestions will start out. This will be where a majority of the general discussion, commentary, and hashing out of the Suggestion will take place. Users will be encouraged to keep an up-to-date first post following the Suggestion Form. Many Suggestions may die out because of lack of Community interest or for any number of other reasons. However, if a Suggestion is gaining momentum and there is an active discussion going in regards to how best formulate a final idea, such Suggestions will be marked with [Title Tags] of [Last Call] and Stickied.
- Those suggestions that become[Last Call] marked Suggestions (there may be only a few, or there be may be a larger number as ideas expand and grow) will be then be Stickied, and remain so, until the discussion has either ended and there seems to be a general communal agreement in regards to a Finalized Suggestion. If after a duration of [Last Call] Stickiness nothing is able to be finalized, the Suggestion may be unstickied until it starts to move forward once again, so as to reduce clutter. Finalized Suggestions then will be moved to a new Sub-Forum: Submitted Suggestions.
- Submitted Suggestions -- This is a sub-forum storehouse of Finalized Suggestions will allow Lackattack to review every once in a while Submitted Suggestions during [Feature] Updates, so he can find the most fitting, relevant, and desired Suggestions to be added to the his plans for the current/next Feature update. This will allow Lackattack to keep an eye on what is desired and allow him to work Submitted Suggestions into an ever changing priority list. This will also allow people to more easily see if a Suggestion has been Submitted before, reducing repeat Suggestions and keeping similar content in appropriate forum topics.
- New Suggestions Volunteers will be needed, and thus, we will have an open Application Callout for this position. Volunteer Suggestions Moderators will spend their energy on:
- Guiding Suggestions toward the "Submitted Suggestion" end-result. This means participating in Suggestion discussion from time to time. Volunteer Suggestions Moderators don't need to get into the nitty-gritty details of every Suggestion, or becoming an expert on how every Suggestion works in specific detail---Community discussion and participation is for this! Volunteer Suggestions Moderators should always be facilitating the movement of Suggestions towards and end.
- Volunteer Suggestions Moderators need not worry too much about knowing if something is possible from a technical or coding stand point, the main focus should be assistance and guidance in the crafting of a Finalized Suggestion to be Submitted, not too unlike how Team CC Cartographers help move Maps along the Foundry Process.
- The top requirements will be activity and helpful guidance.
