Roman Empire Ranks

Postby Qwert on Sat Apr 23, 2011 10:35 am

Well i dont know if these possibile, but i think will be interesting to have new name ranks, with new rank icon, same like in roman empire era. ;)
And ,even will be better if you have several sets of ranks, like From WWII , or NApoleon wars.

Field Marshal----------Ceasar
General----------------Consul
Brigadier--------------Legatus
Colonel----------------Senior Tribune
Major------------------Tribune
Captain----------------Senior centurion
Lieutenant-------------Centurion

Sergeant 1st Class-----Decurion
Sergeant---------------Optiones
Corporal 1st Class-----Tesserarius
Corporal---------------Evocatus
priv 1st class---------Veteran Legionares
private----------------Legionares
cadet------------------Milites
cook-------------------Numeri
new recruit------------Tirones
-----------------------------------------------
Now i only need to work on Rank icons, to see how will be these look.

I think this idea is great. I would suggest cycling it every so often. Right now, we are following a pretty modern ranking, but if CC is to grow internationally, perhaps it would be better if every 3 months the ranks changed. Like we could do whatever ranks. Maybe have a poll of what the next set will be. And then alternate between the classic and the 'flavor of the time'.

So all the players that only play a game and don't read the forum everyday never know how good they are doing in the scoreboard?
And why would the rank system be based on the Romans, there are more maps with WWII as theme, those ranks could be used as well. The rank system has been changed before, I am not saying it's impossible it won't be changed again.

i think this is cool. I thought against it at first but seeing how many people think it's cool...
I don't know, for someone to come here first time they might not get why all the ranks are roman themed. I think It'd be cool if the players could choose which set they wanted to use and players could add sets in a similar way to the map creation process. That'd be sweet.

Im here from 2006, and ranks are same, they never change ranks. Ofcourse i dont have nothing against WWII ranks, but like you have rule against nazis, ranks from Wermacht will be banned(that whas regular army, and actualy Third reich had two ranks-one for Wermacht, and other for SS forces, and they are totaly diferent from present ranks in CC), and from other side ranks from Soviet Union will be again banned, because they comunist, British and US,but these is normal, because over half of player from US-CAN-AUS-BRIT, and that why all ranks are western, its more or least are present in some mix now. Personaly, i dont have nothing against Soviet and Wermacht ranks.

Hi,

I thought we have more ranks now then in the beginning. If you say I'm wrong I believe you. You are also correct about the WWII ranks, nobody wishes to have the rank "Herr Commandant-oberst" But maybe the American ranks from WWII are different from what they are now. I don't mean to say only WWII ranks are an option, just thinking along. Maybe a total new ranking system could be an option.

Your opinion is based on how many others like an idea? Hmm.

A very small percentage of CC-users reads the forums. Changing the rank system every (insert time period) could be confusing for people who are just playing a game and don't want to be bothered by any needless changes. The rank system isn't broken, why fix it?

It's not broken, but that doesn't mean it cannot be improved.
Though out of all things, another type of rank would be pretty low on my list.

I think the most players on CC feel this way, it might be nice if it was changed but it's just as nice the way it is now. I am afraid this is not going to happen.
