Set Score Losses, AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Postby Me-Da-MiNoRiTY on Sat May 24, 2008 9:35 pm

As a Colnel *at current date of print* ive been close to reaching Brigadier and a score of 3000

Recently i have lost several games to low ranks and in the span of 5 games i had lost just under 220 points and in 2 games alone i lost about 130 points.

It is really frustrating too move up the ranks but find that if i'm having an unlucky run that i'll lose more points to lower rank players.
Even though it does seem realistic it can be unfair that high ranked players would have to play many games (and WIN) to get back points lost from one game. (I would say change the luck but that's not exactly possible) so here is what i suggest.

Concise description:
Have set score losses/gains between ranks

Specifics:
If say a cook plays a Colnel and the cook wins then the cook should only gain a set amount say maybe 40 points (just a suggestion) Meaning the Colnel would lose 40 points. (any point loss would be soley based on rank and no longer on POINTS) so even if the cook had 200 points and the Colnel had 2700 points the point loss/gain would still be 40 points.

If the Colnel was to beat the cook the Colnel may only gain 8 points as the Colnel is ranked better and would be expected to perform better and thus get less points.

And if a Private was to beat that same Colnel later on then maybe the Colnel would lose 36 points (perhaps maybe more or less depending on peoples thoughts)

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
It would stop things like a bad running streak of luck completely destroying your points and instead keeping it at a slow steady controlled pace.

It would help people not lose as many points on terms such as luck or "fate" as some say and keep it more a less fair.

Thats all I can really think of right now if you have anything to say or suggest please comment!

It's virtually the exact same system... the difference between the points you lose at 2500 and 2999 is very insignificant.... the points are set... the only exception is cooks with a point difference between 0-800 or so.
