Welcome Comrades to the 69th edition of the Dispatch :)

Hello, folks! I'm on a friend's iPad publishing this issue at a coffee shop that's about to close, so you'll have to excuse me if I'm brief!

TRENCH WARFARE HITS CONQUER CLUB!

Adjacent Attacks has finally made it to implementation after about four years since it was suggested. OliverFA, a primary AA enthiusiast, had finally given up just a week or two prior to the release! Can this be a sign that we can expect more from 2012 than previous years?

Anywho, this issue we've got a, erm, "lovely" interrogation of the infamous ranching Conquerer, Gen.LeeGettinhed. Read at your own risk! Some answer may be considered "baiting" or "flaming" by some.

As for the regular "Subscriber of the Issue" and "Ask A Mod", I'll get all caught up on that next issue, when my internet provider doesn't flub up

Enjoy the fruits of our laboring fingers!

Newbie Help

Want to get into the Mafia scene, but don't know how to play or even what it is? Consult these threads: Mafia Information, Mafia and You, and Rules and Terms of Mafia.
Too much work? Too lazy to read through everything? No worries, you can always jump right into a game and ask for other players or the game runner to help guide you.

What is "Mafia"?
Mafia, for those of you that don't know, is a game that generally takes place in a town, where the townspeople have to determine who the mafia (or "scum") is and lynch them via a majority vote during the day and the mafia try to kill everyone at night and bluff their way out of getting killed by the town.

Mafia News
Town destroyed Mafia in Hectic Eclectic Mafia, culminating in lynching the godfather on Day 5. They were no doubt helped by the fact that the SKer won due to an alternate win condition, leaving only one nightkill each night.

With 2 mafia factions in Fire and Ice Mafia, town eventually managed to pull out the win in a LYLO position with only 3 players remaining. A very well played game all around, especially since the last townies were able to kill the last Ice Goon.

Mafia Callouts
Calling all players interested! Some mafia games need some filling:

Advanced Roles and Strategy by safariguy5
Another mafia strategy is exposed this issue.

Allying With an Innocent Townie

What is It?
A mafia player may decided to publicly defend another player that is under lynch pressure. The motivation to do this is because the mafia player knows that the other player is most likely a townie and the mafia player will gain cred with town if the innocent player is lynched. This stems from the inbalance of information at the beginning of the game. Mafia know who the other mafia members are, but town players don't know who the other townies are.

Example
Jack is a townie and at L-2. James is a mafia member and defends Jack because if Jack is lynched, James looks more likely to be a town player

How to Use this Strategy
Defending a town player to gain credibility is mainly a mafia tactic. Other town players may defend a town player, but since there is no element of subterfuge, it shouldn't affect how other town players are viewed. It's important for the mafia player to be pretty certain the lynch target is town. If the lynch target is another anti-town faction, this strategy may backfire and lead to the mafia player being lynched.

It's also important to pick the lynch targets carefully. If there is very good evidence against the lynch target, the mafia player should probably remain silent. Contrarian play may lead to unwelcome cop investigations and eventually outing the mafia player.
Historical Perspectives by DoomYoshi
Spoiler
Greetings.
Hood had had enough. He sent his last letter, a lengthy assault on Sherman's concept of morality and on the Civil War in general 2 days before. Sherman replies:

HDQRS. MILITARY DIVISION OF THE MISSISSIPPI,
In the Field, Atlanta, Ga., September 14, 1864.

General J. B. HOOD, C. S. Army,
Commanding Army of Tennessee:

GENERAL: Yours of September 12 is received and has been carefully perused. I agree with you that this discussion by two soldiers is out of place and profitless, but you must admit that you began the controversy by characterizing an official act of mine in unfair and improper terms. I reiterate my former answer, and to the only new matter contained in your rejoinder I add, we have no negro allies" in this army; not a single negro soldier left Chattanooga with this army or is with it now. There are a few guarding Chattanooga, which General Steedman sent to drive Wheeler out of Dalton. I was not bound by the laws of war to give notice of the shelling of Atlanta, a "fortified town" with magazines, arsenals, foundries, and public stores. You were bound to take notice. See the books. This is the conclusion of our correspondence, which I did not begin, and terminate with satisfaction.

I am, with respect, your obedient servant,
W. T. SHERMAN,
Major-General, Commanding.

Of all the various injustices Sherman has been accused of, the only one he chose to respond to was that of allying with negroes. Certainly, the racism was not confined to the South.

Next time we have some African legends to coincide with the release of the Africa II map.

Interrogation of Gen.LeeGettinhed
Q. Did you ever get pleasure (ie. have fun) out of only playing low ranked players you were sure to beat?
Yes, when they were ahead and I had to come from behind and in friendly game. What you all misunderstand is that it's NOT about beating low ranked, it's about NOT LOSING. With our complaints of shite dice/drops, I did something about those by controlling the situation.

Q. When were you a General?
Several months ago – before becoming Field Marshal

Q. What makes you think you are getting head?
Well, the gurgling swallowing sound the original asker was making confirms it – although I prefer it from women.

Q. If you had the privilege to consummate your love for any of the following fellow CC forum goers, which one would it be and why?
Chariot of Fire, eddie2, TheGeneral2112, IR1SH ACE, QoH, AndOthers

Only others – if women. The other 4 are busy pleasuring each other.

Q. I heard you were behind with the rent, is that true?
If you mean the movie Rent, no – saw it once, all the way thru. If you mean cost of housing: no, I am a land/home owner. You might want to try it sometime, if you can quit squandering your savings on video games and ale.

Q. Do you prefer syrup, or jelly?
Silly goose, neither. My gf uses whipped cream. And you wouldn't need jelly if you ever tried foreplay.

Q. What motivates your game play on this site?
Several things: I hate to lose – not “take advantage of”; having fun playing games; giving detractors the periodic verbal beatdown; new friends at KoRT

Q. What do you think it says about you as a player that after four years you still have a Bronze Cross-map Medal? Isn't it a more accurate reflection on you than the Conqueror medal?
That I prefer to play a few maps don’t care about all the others. Not necessarily: I think my 50 medals accurately reflects I’m at least 67% more than your 30.

Q. You have zero active games & literally refuse to play ANY games where you might risk losing some points. There are many ways I could ask this but I'll keep it polite. What's the point!?
Wrong, look at Clan games and 2v2 won vs Kiron/mc05025. I am honored that you follow my stats like a true fan. Not squandering points and hating to lose is the point. Mature people understand saving: you’re like the grasshopper and I’m like the ant.

Q. Now that you have acheived conqueror, which I understand can be a goal, and that you got warned for playing almost exclusively the same type of ranching games; why don't you explore the other possibilities given by this site? it seems like your last games were more of the same.
I have altered my game maps/settings/players: Clan games force that.
Obviously you’re not as observant as you are verbose. Check out game with ljex vs Kiron/mc05025, etc.

Q. On a scale of 1-10, how hurt is your butt over the recent ruling which classified your "ranching" as a gross abuse of the game?
Zero, my butt not hurt – my scoring capability has been a little hampered. And the classification is BS – and was decided on by a bunch of biased/partial mods and admins. I avoid shite dice/drops, not targeting players.

Q. If I (tkr4lf) were an ice cream sundae, how would you eat me? Please describe as graphically as possible.
To clarify, tkr4lf IS an ice cream sundae – and I would not, because his buddies are probably busy eating him. Proof: you sound lumpy, nutty and like you’ve full of cream.

Q. What made you decide to join KORT rather than any of the other clans?
KoRT has the strongest bunch of players and nicest bunch of people. While recruited to join several, some other clans’ members are way too obnoxious – and of course I couldn’t join a clan that allowed a J to play too many clan games and forfeit the match.

Q. Now you have achieved the rank of conqueror - do you strive to be the conqueror with the highest overall points?
I WAS, and still may, but Admin sort of hampered my options.

Q. Do you think you would have more enjoyment playing different game styles? Or is your current style of play providing the most enjoyment for you?
I enjoy the clan games and more team games. Coming from behind with ljex to beat Kiron/mc05025 was the most fun I’ve had in a while. Teaming with Merch313 in a Feudal Epic was one of the most enjoyable.

Q. Would you consider making your only CC type game site where the only playable map is similiar in style to city mougl??

Based on spelling, I'd guess eddie2 sent that one in. it's M O G U L. And no, I played Waterloo twice as much as CM -- and at one time 4 times as much.

Q. If you were in a bunker and you only had one choice of "friend" to be with you would it be Saddam or Kim Jong Il and what would motivate your decision??
Saddam; because he’d eat less and stay in the basement. However, you and or one of your detractor buddies are welcome to be a vistitor to one of my torture chambers in rl ;-D

Q. If you could make a map, what would it look like?
A Playboy bunny.

Q. Now that you can no longer farm, how long do you think you are going to be conqueror?
Not sure, depends on Kiron and mc0525’s activity – and if/when they apply a similar nebulous abuse rule to Braddy

Q. Suppose I'm (Crazyirishman) that cutie you've been texting for the last few weeks and I just friendzoned you, how would you respond?
I don’t think you are cute – and I already have a rl gf

Q. Do you think your mother or father would be proud of the way you have achieved "success" on this site?
Yes. Abide by the rules. . .put loud mouthed detractors down verbally. Definitely

Q. Do you approach any other of life's challenges with the same exploitative methods to accomplish what others like to achieve with skill and hard work?
Disagree with exploitative – as several other good players confirmed -- if detractors knew how to read anything but comic books. My motto is “work smart. . .not hard”. Maybe that’s your problem, need to play less hard, get a gf after your turn at Doom.

Q. Why did you foe me (sdh)? when you still read my posts and we will never face each other in a game anyway.
Probably because you were overly negative. And not so sure I read your posts

Q. Do you still consider the way you got to conqueror an achievement? Even if no one else does.
Sure, why not? Put I particularly enjoy putting loudmouths in their place. Now the other is a totally different question that covers too many other issues. Now what is this Matriculation sessions you partake in?

Q. What is your next CC goal?
Next CC goal is to play a few more top 100 players in team games.

Q. Who is most likely to take away your conqueror title, admin or mc05025?
Not admin, I did nothing wrong. Mc05025 of the choices given, but Kiron, Braddy could easily do it.

Q. If you had the power, which 5 players would you force off the site and why?
Start with Chariot of Fire, then eddie2, TheGeneral2112, QoH and IR1SH ACE because they violated the #2-3 rule of digging up PERSONAL info at CC site. A warning for 2 of the 5 is not enough and didn’t cover all 5-7.

Q. Do you think anyone's mother or father would be proud of anything they did on an online risk gaming site? where we argue, bitch n' moan, and criticize each other till that horse is beaten more than our penises as we enjoy the secondary benefits of the internet in between masturbation sessions.
Sure – particularly putting loudmouths in their place. But I'd think that if you all would masturbated less, you'd probably moan less.

Q. Today is the 27th where I (grifftron) am, and I noticed your last game finished on the 20th before the ruling and you were warned.. a week and not 1 finished game? seems kind of a slow pace to keep up as conqueror or are you finding it hard to find people to play with now?
It’s an honor to have a fan follow my every move – but it borders on stalking.
If you’d look, I had been involved in 8 clan games since Jan, many that went a month each. Also, I had purposely slowed down my level of 1v1. Just hold your breath for a few more weeks and you’ll see. Yes, a slower pace – but no, not hard to find a game at all. People ask me all the time.

Q. How buttsore are you that your C&A thread on myself (TheGeneral2112) and several others was closed?
Not buttsore at all. It should not have been closed, because only 2 of the 5 received any punishment.

Q. Why haven't you been in live chat since the ruling?
I have been in LC, just probably different times than you.

Q. U mad, bro?
Bro? you’d have to be human for that to be a fair question. Mad, no, quite sane

Q. Are you surprised at how this thread turned out?
No, not surprised at all.

Q. Will you actually answer any of these questions? I really hope you answer my (tkr4lf) ice cream sundae question...
Adolescents will always act like children. Yes, I have and will. Answered.

Q. In a recent c and a report you made you highlighted a warning issued to me (eddie2) and another player showing a screen shot of this my questions surrond this..
1) Did you really get it from king achilles..
2) If you did why were you given this screen shot as admin have always stated anything dealt with outside c and a reports are not for the public to see and have previously refused to let players now of such instances.
3)do you think this was preferental treatment.
4) If it was not king a then would you mind telling us how you got this pm.

Yes and no. Not FROM him, I hacked into his personal files ;-D. Hmmm, I don’t read everything KA ever said. But, I am amazed you seem to know that but ignore the rules on flaming/baiting and privacy. I assume you mean “preferential” (I can loan you my Spellcheck for these emergencies). No. Remember, I got it from you in one of your drunken tirades? You gave me your password to account sit and you asked me to check your mail.

Q. From the response made by players in the recent case against you and the comments surronding lanlards inviting them to team games, did you conspire with lanlards to invite them to games and join after the opponants did because they would not accept invites from you ???
No, but again your active imagination proves that you should be a Fiction novelist and quit flipping hamburgers and emptying garbage cans for a living.

Q. Do you think that the timing of this interview could have been better?
Sure. . .when I became conqueror would have made more sense. But they were busy interrogating people with 300 completed games. Now that they had to create some nebulous new rule it makes for a good back-up time.

Q. What is your favourite map and setting combination?
Depends on situation:
-fun: Europa, dubs, escalating, freestyle, chained, etc.
-points: was Waterloo (then shit drops), more recently City Mogul for simplicity.
-clan games: any 4 player game on a large map with Josko.ri leading it.

Q. Do you prefer 1v1 or team play?
Team play for competition -- unless sloppy teammates, but 1v1 for efficiency.

Q. Which do you value more between a challenging win that wins you 20 points or an easy win that gains you 6 points?
Duh, challenging with for 20 – like with ljex vs Kiron/mc05025. the easy wins are just more efficient.

Q. Why do you think that you have gotten more community objection to your methods/gamestyle than any other conqueror?
For 3 reasons, because: 1) I did it legally and was hard to stop. 2) although I have beaten a few conquerors, people think Score is about overall skill and it’s not, it’s about ability to score (see Moneyball) 3) I stood up to the complainers and took them down a notch.

Q. When you are out in public, in real life, do people - A: Point and giggle at you and your crown? B: Bow and kneel? C: Cower in fear and run? D: Push you down and take your lunch money?
Well jefjef, of those choices. . .B, before the women unzip.

Q. In 1 word using the language of love (German) how would you describe your overall CC experience?
WHATaMIXofGOODplayersANDidiots

Q. What is the most elaborate form of a flame that you've witnessed in your tenure on CC?
Several:
1)C&A’s listed totally FALSE and exaggerated allegations: I don’t cheat or farm. Saying the sky is green isn’t going to change it from blue. I haven’t played (many) cooks or cadets in a long time. People act like its norm
2)Chariot of Fire: 14 nasty replies to a Celebration thread, then him leading CCCW to find PERSONAL info about my life (pic, death notice, etc.)

Q. Which mods have you 'helped'?
Generally: many/most types – chat, tournament, Global. Which particular ID’s is noyFb.

Q. When do you plan on playing against me (yazoochick) again?
When the time is right. You haven’t sat in your corner long enough for ratting me out about DAB comments.

Q. Who do you consider cc's best player?
It depends – but I am most impressed with Josko.ri from KoRT. I’ve seen him tell opponents exactly what he’s going to do, they can’t stop it. I think it’s hilarious.

I heard rumor that there’s a good player on TOFU, but that person tends to have the manners of the Nasty Old Lady in The Pride and the Predjudice. Which is interesting, because I see myself like the star played by Keira Knightly in the recent remake.

Q. When u play me (ScootChina):?:

U I play soon

Q. Wry yu no cawl me (Crazyirishman)?
Sounds like a Flame/bait to ScootChina. Are mods going to do something about it?

Q. How did it feel to step over all those plebs to become conqueror?
I don’t see it as stepping over them, but helping them thru their Right of Passage – when few other high ranks are willing to.

Q. How does it feel now that those plebs, as well as the aristocrats & the law, have rejected your actions?
Not all have, just 11 of 1,000 after a very slanted “survey”. Shit, I listed 20 recent "thank you's" in a C&A thread. Amazingly, Lackattack congratulated me in Live Chat – and King Achilles said he was trying to help me. They must have bowed to the unbearable pressure.

Q. How's clan life?
Clan life is interesting. I enjoy the games, great players/members. But it won't be as much fun without Merch313/JaneAustin who recently decided to leave.

Q. Which Kort member do you like the most and why?
I like different ones for different reasons:
-merch313: recruited about same time, similar sense of humor and point of view
-josko.ri: team leader/teacher: 6-0 with him in games
-loes: recruited me, great sense of humor

Q. Which Kort member do you think likes you the least and why?
thebest712. I asked him for help (for someone I was account sitting) and did't get any. But I think others thought I’d stop ranching – but that was never part of the recruiting prospectus. I was just told: “win more than 50% of the Clan games you play in. . .what you do on your own time is your business.” I’m at 75% and have held up my end of the bargain

Q. Did you take the previous two questions at face value, or are you so used to getting flamed/baited/trolled that you thought I (Master Fenrir) was being sly with all of the "member" talk?
Face value, “member” went right over my head. Although I’d gotten the distinct impression that you disapproved of my style, I understand you are honorable enough to not tarnish KoRT.

Q. Why do you format all of your "list" posts in such an odd manner? You could do alpha/numeric lists, but it's always a very curious mixture of punctuation marks.
Rotf lmFao, it’s faster and simpler for me. You all must use too many Powerpoint presentations and waste time numbering/lettering things. “sometimes you have to let art flow”

Q. Will you renew my (yazoochick) premium?
No. I’ve never paid for either of mine. One was won in freemi-premi tourney with Lindax, the other was gifted.

Q. Will you be leaving this site?
No, and why should a legal player leave? I think it's an HONOR to have rules changed because someone controlled parameters enough to minimize losses.

Q. Will you be sending me (Chariot of Fire) a Christmas card?
No, you’re not on the list

Q. Gen.LeeGettinhed, why did you foe me (Jdsizzleslice)? Was it because you said I "was friends with eddie2" ? If not, then for what reasons?
Not necessarily, although that'd be a good reason. Probably for being overly negative and impolite.

Q. Mayo or mustard?
Mayo -- generally for sandwiches, mustard only for sausages.

Q. Now that you're not allowed to use your current method of cheating/abusing will you:
a. come up with a new method of cheating/abusing?
b. use one of the other existing methods of cheating/abusing?
c. start coming down the scoreboard?

How about "d. keep climbing, but more slowly". Not a great set of choices, since I never cheated -- always legal. Maybe C, but less likely down the scoreboard and more likely "down DiM's lip" (DiM asked the Q)

Q. How many bodyguards does a conqueror need?
No bodyguard persons, but only a helmet when I ride my Harley

Q. I (danryan) too, would like an explanation of the punctuation foibles. Is there a particular reason for them?
Foibles? You mean fables? Want me to read you one. Once upon a time there was a nice game site called CC where all the forum repliers were nice and no flaming/baiting. . .

Q. Why do you think your clanmates are so defensive about your warning? Have you brought shame upon all of KORT?
Clanmates are defensive because they know I broke no rule – and because the warning came WITH the rule change, not after any rule violation. Uh, definitely not on ALL, maybe SOME? but people have their own opinions. And the REAL shame is people like the asker (danryan)who are only captains after 18,000 games.

Q. If you had to live in any country in the world besides the US, which would it be and why?
Tahiti – was there in Nov2000. French honeymooner women swam topless. Pure heaven.

Q. What kind of recreational activities did you enjoy before you discovered Conquer Club?
Depends on situation:
-No Limit Hold’em. A lot like CC. Many people like the 8-10 players, I like 1v1 holding AA.
-snorkeling: great barrier reef, Cayman Islands, Cancun Mexico
-the game Diplomacy; also a board game and online, but no dice – all diplomacy

Q. If you could not be in KoRT what other clan/s would you want to be in? Why?
Not sure, was never big into team games until joining KoRT, but:
Pack: approached me, seemed friendly up and coming and a bit brazen
IA: I appreciate K-Her and Demon forkl’s play, antics and Forum replies
TOFU-NOT: would never join a clan that had someone like Chariot of Fire in it.
BSS: sounded cool, but left after about a day because they let in someone I felt was overly nasty/arrogant
BPB-NOT: no way, I don’t like most global mods and they seem to have a lot.
. . .but overall I think KoRT has the best mix of great players and nice fun loving people.

Q. Have you got a faulty caps lock key that has a mind of its own?
No. Some educated cultures capitalize items they want to EMPHASIZE and it’s easier than bolding/coloring.

Q. Are you proud of all you have achieved on this site?
Sure, especially the scams listed on my Wall "still in the womb", "an heir to CC" and "type in CAPS so deaf could read better"

Q. Do you plan to run anymore tourneys after your 30th tourney? or did you just set up 30 of the easiest tourneys to run in an effort to make it look like you got medals so it looks better when noobs look at the scoreboard?
Yes, tho I am not done. I had hosted 25 in 3 months, had like 9-11 ongoing at the same time, and HighlanderAttack quit going for 120 tourney wins in 2012. Now see, only overly negative people would think it had to do with LOOKS.

Q. Will you feel the need to have to continue making tourneys even though you will get no more medals?
Yes, when I feel like it. Had NOTHING to do with medals or looking better. As a matter of fact, I sold all my tourney medals on Ebay already.

Q. Could you even contemplate the idea of doing something with no benefit for you?
Yes: hosting tourneys was not begun to benefit me. You question and tone imply you feel differently.

Q. Will you answer all the questions in this thread? and if so how many answers will be Bait/Flames answers or how often will you repeat one of your famous analogies?
Yes, already done. None REAL bait/flames, but just replying in a manner reflective of the questioner. If you want one of my famous analogies repeated, by the book "Great Analogies -- by GLG"

Q. Any chance you will be accepting challenges from people now? or are you just going to sit on your score?
Sure, have already. Never sit on it, just add slower.

Q. Do you watch Star Wars or Star Trek?
Both SW and ST, but: prefer the original SW (episode 4?) and the original ST series -- like "the Corbamite maneuver".

Q. What happened to you between that period when you were DH and General Lee?
Nothing. I didn’t like all the negative BS assigned to my name so I asked to have it changed when I ran into Ace Rimmer. – so it’s REALLY all HIS fault.

Q. Is Civil War history your favourite?
No, I prefer WWII for modern and Roman/Mongol for ancient. And Gen.Lee isn’t from US Civil war, it was: my rank at time, my middle name, and the Dutch word for Warrior (pronounced geet-TEEN-heed).

Q. Are you married?
Don't you read? I have a gf, doesn’t EVERYBODY know that?

Q. What's your favourite pro sport?
I prefer NCAA Basketball, but if I had to chose a pro, it’d be Basketball. I hate the regular season lull – but like some of the athleticism. If women’s gymnastics was pro, I’d go for that – I LOVE watching the uneven parallel bars.

Q. Ever watch a game of professional chess on television?
Not all the way thru. I’ve seen parts of some – but really enjoyed “Searching for Bobby Fisher” a great flick, especially the rematch of father/son early on and the phrases “attacks in combination” and “attack while retreating”.

Q. What do you enjoy most about living in the States?
Freedoms, visiting beaches in Hawaii, Florida, etc. without a passport.

Q. Who's your favourite president of the past?
Thomas Jefferson. What an inventor – and obtained Louisiana purchase. AND. . .I heard he was quite a ladies' man.

Q. Who is ur favourite CC chick?
Depends on the situation/reason but:
-Apey: from waaaay back, but haven’t seen her on in like forever. However:
-dazerazer: have had a lot of great PM conversations with her
-ImissSCca: her quotes are great (see my wall), but I think she could hurt me
-loes: recruited me to KoRT; nice, friendly and great sense of humor

Q. Will u ever give me (plurple) a game 1v1?
Ummm, not sure, too much risk. But a 2v2 is doable

Q. What was ur favourite CC win?
Favorite CC win was: account sitting for someone, vs JohnnyRockets24 (at the time my biggest detractor) – came from behind, tied then beat a 2-time conqueror

Q. Why do u like running tourney's?
I USED to like running them: to be creative on topics and formats; meet people, see new maps without playing them; then ran several to help HighlanderAttack try to get to 120 wins in 2012. Less fun now, more to acknowledge people: Boom Boom, dazerazer, Phatscotty, HighlanderAttack, Haywood Jablomie.

Q. Who do you think is the best CC player and who has the best ID?
Best player: josko.ri -- people say blitzaholic and Chariot, but I haven’t seen them play. I’m 6-0 teamed with him – and I read in a game chat where he TOLD the opponents what he’d do, and they couldn’t stop him. Best ID: Haywood Jablomie – by far.

Q. What match ups would you most like to see?
I’d like to see eddie2, Chariot, TheGeneral2112, IR1SH ACE, and QoH all play Offinthecorner in a round-robin tournament. Then IF they win, the tournament organizer can announce “xxx beats Offinthecorner”. I think that would be hysterical.

Q. How do you feel about the fact that you got paddled 37 times as of 1:40 pm CC time on April Fool's Day?
Totally loved – or stalked. Unless you love someone, why would you devote so much extra time and effort into things?

Q. Thanks for your time!
You are quite welcome. Thanks to interested players that asked some questions and to detractors, well. . .in some small way you remind me of an old opponent: Haywood Jablomie

CC in History. #2 by crazymilkshake5
Spoiler
------------------------Alexander the Great------------------------

For this version of CC in history, we have the mighty, Alexander the Great and his many conquest. Alexander was one of the youngest conquerors in history, he was also one of the most successful conquerors to date. Once Alexander got his power, one of the first things he did was to have his cousin, and two Macedonia princes executed, showing that he was a fearless man not afraid to kill people he knew for power.

First Campaign: Asia Minor
The first main campaign of Alexanders life was the assault on Persia. The first thing he did was to walk onto Persian territory, and stab a spear into the ground, indicating that he wanted to conquer all of the Persian empire, and he also said that he was destined by the Gods to rule over all. Another thing the spear represents is his eagerness to fight, while his father preferred diplomacy. After the easy conquest of the Battle of the Granicus, the Persian army and their mercenaries were forced to retreat by sea.

Second Campaign: Asia Minor
The second part of the Asia minor campaign was fighting the main army of the Persians. The leader of the Persian army, Darius III, was losing the battle, and he retreated leaving his wife and 2 Daughters behind. Darius offered a peace treaty offering land that Alexander had already conquered, and a 10,000 talent ($10,760 a piece) ransom for his family. Alexander said that he was the king of Asia now, and that he would do what he wanted with his land.

Death and Reflection
Alexanders Death was a shock to all, he did not die a kings death, nor a dictators death either, the cause of his death was just a simple high fever. Not assassinated, not Killed in Action, just a simple fever, at the age of 32. As I had said before, he was one of the most powerful Dictators ever, That conquered more land then all the others, to give you an idea, Here's a picture of just how much land he conquered:

Alexander's Empire, 356 BC - 323 BC
Image
First to the North and the Caucasus and then Egypt, Libya and finally driving to the heart of Persia (Where Iran is today) and all the way to India, (Where India is today).

----------What you can take away from this lesson----------

Number 1:
Like I had said, Alexander was one of the, if not the youngest conquerors in history, so don't join a game thinking that it will be an easy win just because the player that your facing is under 16. ;) Take me for example, age 15, if I start a speed game on All Your Base Are Belong To Us, you are screwed. plain and simple, I have declared myself the best on that map, nobody has challenged me, those who do get crushed.

Another player I bring up is NoSurvivors, age 15. This guy is fast, I played him in one game, then a week later, his speed doubled, if not tripled, also he is one heck of an assdoodler if I do say so myself.

My last point about age not being a factor is my friend, Riskmaster101, Age 17. He is the best AoR 1 player on the site, don't believe me? I'll map rank him.(he's +7,980 points)
image
Number 2:
My second point that I want to bring up is that The first thing that Alexander did when he came into power was he had his cousin and 2 Princes executed. Now I'm not saying that you should just go around killing your teammates randomly, have A good reason, weather it be to acquire a bonus, or to get his cards to prevent the other team from getting them. Another thing that you can do is if you kill your teammate and take his spoils, if it is escalating and the cash is high enough, and you don't have enough guys to kill someone else, kill your teammate and cash. (just make sure that you don't lose more guys than you will gain!)

If you have any suggestions on who to do next send me a PM and I will see what I can do!

The Bonus Monkey is your friend, leave him for last.
(Part 03) "The True cost of being a BM that is never considered."
By Viceroy63

In Part 01 of this three part series, we examined the only situation or sets of circumstance under which a bonus zone may be acquired and benefited from. We also examined the definition of the word, "Bonus Monkey" and why acquiring a bonus zone is not necessarily the act of a BM if done correctly. In Part 02, we looked at the benefits or services, that a BM provides and how one can take advantage of the situation by being watchful and playing accordingly. In this third and final part of this series, "The Bonus Monkey is your friend, Leave him for last. Part 03" we shall take a look at what the true cost of being a BM, that is never considered; Is.

First, let us consider the objectives of the game. The objectives of the game are to grow strong enough and powerful enough to eliminate everyone else from the game. Strength and power are not the same thing however. Strength can be likened to numbers as in troop strength numbers. But Power is capability. The capability to survive by being in different regions scattered through out the map is power, as well as the capability to eliminate other players who are also scattered through out the map in different regions of the world. In fact it is the same power or capability. You can have all the capability possible but it would be useless without the strength. The same can be said for strength. Strength without capability is also a weakness that can be exploited. They need to go hand in hand to insure the most optimum position possible should you get the opportunity to win.

A lot of the times in the SoC Forms that I fill out for the games that I play, What I read often are, "Don't lose more then 2 troops." This is when I am going for a card. I am assaulting a region with only 1 troop on it and I may have 10 troops on the assaulting region but still I get that warning, "Don't lose more then Two troops." Why should that be so important? Because the game is also an arms build up or strength build up. It is a race to be the most capable with the most strength. Getting that spoil is secondary to maintaining my troop strength. If I lose all three troops received on my turn then it's like I got no troops at all on that turn. And even if I get the spoil in exchange for more then two troops, well that only serves to make me a bigger target to the other players.

So even if I lose two troops on the turn and got no spoil at all, it's like saying, "Well, at least I got one troop on this turn and grew one troop stronger rather then just get a spoil that makes me a target and did not grow strong at all." So growing in troops strength and power is what basically the true BM trades in exchange for the bonus zones.

I alluded to this from the start in Part 01 of this series and also when I said that "Location, location, Location!" is crucial and here is why. The escalating game is not won by owning a bonus zone or receiving the most troops per turn, although that may help, but the escalating game is won rather by a perfectly and timely trade of spoils and being in the most optimum position to take full advantage of those timely traded spoils. That's the strategy; That's the plan. To be ready for "IF" you are the one to receive those perfectly timely trades that assist's you in the elimination of other players. And "IF" you are in the right place and the right time with the right amount of troops (Strength), then you will be the one to win if the right spoils trade fall to you. If not the the next person in succession will be the winner and if that person is also not ready, then the one after him. Somebody has to be the one who is ready to take full advantage of the spoils and win. Why not you?

Keep in mind also that often novice players or simply players who do not understand this principle well enough, make mistakes that you can benefit from as well. But barring any really big mistakes in the game, it is the wheel of fortune and your ability to be ready for the good fortune if it should stop on you that will determine if you are the winner or not. The fact is that most players, like the BM's, simply are not in any really good position to take advantage of the spoils trade when it befalls them. And so they never win and end up saying that "It's all luck!?"

Of course maneuvering into the best possible position when possible, plays an important role but there you can only do what best you can. But "If" you have conquered a bonus zone and it has cost you the Power and/or capability or both, of being strong in other parts of the map then what good is all that extra troops per turn if you can not eliminate a player that is at quite some distance from you? You could have all the strength in numbers that you want but if it is not enough to get to where the elimination is most crucial then how can you win.

Below is a fine example of BM activity in Africa. notice how weak in troop strength Cyan really is. Only 15 troops strong in all. As compared to the others with the exception of Blue, who are twice as strong; Africa had cost Cyan a lot. But the price that is really being paid is in those two dwindling regions that are just about to disappear off the face of the map under Cyan influence. Anchorage, a key land lock position and Astana, which can be utilize to eliminate players in that part of the map quite a distance away.

Image
Round 03 Green to play.

Even if Cyan is able to maintain a hold of Africa and get an extra three troops per turn, it would still take five turns to catch up to the strongest player troops strength wise. Five turns! That's five spoils that could spell the end for Cyan or even the end of the game, in just trying to catch up. In the mean time he has to give up all hope of keeping and building on Anchorage and Astana or he loses his bonus zone. Cyan is committed to Africa at all cost and either way, he is most probably lost anyway.

In the taking of Africa, Cyan also weakened not only himself but Blue as well, and can not even get to Blue from Africa because he must first fight through a stack of Pink or Red or Yellow or Green, in order to get to Blue. In effect Cyan created a target for some one else. And because this BM will most likely not build up in Astana in order to preserve and maintain the bonus zone, then Blue will most likely be some one Else's prize. As will the game eventually The reality is that some one is bound to assault Africa just because he appears to be too strong receiving three extra troops per turn. And this is only the third round.

In all probabilities, either Red or Pink or perhaps even Yellow will end up eliminating Blue and if done at the right time, will see those extra "Mid Game Spoils Exchange" troops, eliminate yet another nearby color and get their spoils and perhaps even continue like that until at the very end of it all, there will only be Cyan left. Huge in numbers yet the final spoils trade will finally take care of Cyan for all his strength and possibly be more then what is needed.

This is why we can leave the true BM for last. Because under these type of circumstances they can not do any real harm. But the elimination of other, weaker colors/players will help us in defeating the other players and eventually any strong BM empire and the winning of the game. That does not mean that BM's can not win especially when they also have well built stacks in other parts of the globe but normally a true BM is his own worse enemy.

The worse thing that you can do in a situation like the above photo is to engage a BM in battle and thus weaken your own position of strength and Power before the right time. In the end if you are powerful enough and strong enough to survive, even if you are left with just one troop on only one single region and the perfectly, timed spoils trade on hand, then just like Alexander the Great who with 30,000 troops defeated 100,000 Persians in a climactic battle at Guagamela in 331 B.C.; You also could come back to defeat a giant of a BM empire and win the game.

So when you see a true BM in your escalating spoils game, just remember that your number one job is to survive. The way to do that is to grow strong and Powerful and the best way to do that is to go for the easy cards and Just leave the BM for last.

Hello again my friends, and welcome to your favorite part of the Newsletter, "War Games", where you can find information about CC Tournaments!

Trench Warfare, the newest update, dominates the news on CC this week. One of the very best things about this update is the degree to which this is a community-produced result. Of course, lackattack made the final decision to go ahead with it, and had to do the work to code it into the CC engine. But the idea, and the rules by which it should work, were worked out by community debate in the Suggestions forum, and field-tested in several tournaments. I have written an article about these tournaments, below.

DaveH, my most reliable reporter, is back again with another installment of Dave's Tournament Tips, number 13 in the series. This time, Dave explores the question of how to use a spreadsheet to create a balanced tournament where everyone faces everyone else exactly once or exactly twice, other than a standard round robin.

History of Adjacent Attack Tournaments by Dukasaur
Spoiler
The CC world is abuzz with discussion of the new Trench Warfare setting, also known as Adjacent Attacks. To celebrate the introduction of the setting, we have a new Official Trench Warfare Tournament:
Gilligan wrote:Welcome to the FIRST Trench Warfare tournament!

Disclaimer: Bugs may be encountered as this is a completely new game type. Play at your own risk. Although bugs will likely be worked out by the time it starts, there is still a possibility.

What is Trench Warfare, you ask? Well, it's the same thing as Adjacent Attacks.
Scrolling down in the tournament thread a bit, we find a reminder from DoomYoshi:
DoomYoshi wrote:Count me in. This is amazing. I should note however, that this is the third trench warfare tournament, only the 1st to use it as an option as opposed to an honour system.
Doom was, of course, referring to the Adjacent Attacks tournaments that have been run by OliverFA. But there are more than three.

The oldest Adjacent Attacks tournament that I was able to find was the First Adjacent Attacks Tournament, run by n00blet and lancehoch back in 2008, won by xelabale. Unless you've either been on CC a long time, or are a person like me who likes digging in archives, you've probably never heard of any of those. N00blet was, however, the person who originally posted the Adjacent Attacks suggestion in the Suggestions forum, and he was for a long time the most prominent booster of the concept.

Almost two years passed without a new AA tournament. (As far as I can tell, of course. If anyone knows of any others please speak up.) In December of 2010 Ace Rimmer posted the 2010 Adjacent Attacks Tournament. OliverFA was credited as co-host in the original post, but not in the Tournaments database, and apparantly did not qualify for a TO medal. He did, however, continue on to win that tournament and got the (sweeter, in most people's minds) winner's medal!

From there on OliverFA became known as the primary torchbearer of the AA idea (although to give full credit -- all members of the Experminental Gamers usergroup have advanced the concept to a greater or lesser degree.)

Oliver eventually launched three more AA tournaments, the 2011 Adjacent Attacks Tournament, the 2012 AA, and the Adjacent Attacks Swiss Style. All of these are still ongoing.

All of those Adjacent Attacks were run on the honour system. (To be honest, I saw the last two in sign-ups, and never joined because I don't like games where I can break the rules by accident.) Enforcement of the rules was done manually, by the TO's going through the laborious task of reviewing the games. Still, such enforcement isn't perfect. As the following exchange (from the very first AA tournament) shows, punishing an offender doesn't fix the game:
HighlanderAttack wrote:
n00blet wrote:
lancehoch wrote:
sully800 wrote:Can you clarify what happens when someone breaks the rule? I know they get zero points for that round, but what is the incentive to play by the rule after breaking it once? Seems like someone could continue to break the rule and cause a lot of problems, though I hope we don't have anyone like that.

Also, if player C breaks the rule and player D gets eliminated first do they both get 0 points? Or is player C given last place, and therefore player D automatically gets a point (unless he also breaks the rule)?
I think we decided it was the latter. If multiple people break the rule then they all get 0 points. I will double check with n00blet.
Lance is correct. If someone breaks the rule, they automatically get last place. Ill clarify that on the description post

Also, if someone breaks the rules repeatedly they will be warned, and if they continue, disqualified
The big problem I face now is that in two games someone has broken the rule and really hurt me from having any chance to win. In the one game he took away an entire bonus land. So no matter what is done to the person who broke the rule, my chances of winning in the tournament are all but gone and my chances of winning the game are gone. Mistakes will happen and even I made one in the Arms race game--I immediately called myself out but mine was minor and had no bearing on the outcome compared to what was done to me.

I will finish playing those games by the rules, but I have not real want to play anymore.
Now, with lackattack coding AA (or Trench Warfare... I guess we'd better get used to using the new term) directly into the game engine, it will become possible to run these tournaments easily. Breaking the rules will simply not be possible, which is the best way to enforce a rule. Soon, I'm sure the work of these early pioneers will be forgotten, just as we routinely hop onto Transatlantic flights without thinking about the courage of Alcock and Brown and Lindbergh. But for now, I thought we could take a minute and give them a tip of the hat. Kudos to n00blet and lancehoch and Ace Rimmer and OliverFA and Suicidal Snowman and all the members of the Experimental Gamers usergroup!

Tournament Tips by DaveH
Partnering Your Opponents
I came across this really useful site by Julian Wiseman:

http://www.jdawiseman.com/papers/tourna ... links.html

In it he lists various combinations of pairs such that, if you look at the tournament layout for 16 players:

* Each player partners each of the others exactly once.
* Each player opposes each of the others exactly twice.
* No set of three players meet together more than once.

So this would make an ideal tournament for 16 players, partnering each other once over 15 games and meeting everyone else just twice. In this article, I'll describe how you can set up an Excel sheet to make the matchups easier.

(Please note that Mr Wiseman is indeed very, very wise. His explanation of the workings of his table are "This design is constructed in an unusual way, specific to powers of 2: index the players by the elements of a four-dimensional vector space V over the field of two elements, and the rounds by the non-zero elements of that vector space. Find a bijection f:V→V such that the function x→x+f(x) is also a bijection; then, in round x, player y partners y+x against f(y) and f(y)+x. ) :? :? :?

Anyway, on with more mundane matters...

Firstly enter a table of the 16 alpha characters with the player's names next to them. Enter a second table of the 15 rounds, 4 games and pair matchups:
image
The first table you make into the lookup table (as described in an earlier article) called, say "Table". You can then design a new table, perhaps on a separate sheet, that has the pair matchups in a friendlier format. i.e.
Image
The players names are "looked-up" from Table using a formula as follows; (Round 1, Game 1, Player i) name is picked up from Table using the formula:

Code: Select all

=VLOOKUP(Players!F5,Table,2,FALSE)
i.e. the content of the sheet called "Players", cell F5 (which has the first letter "D" in it) is looked up in "Table" and column 2 containing "Player 4" is copied into the cell. The "FALSE" item in the function is to ensure accurate copies are made.

You then copy this code across to the other three columns to automatically insert the correct names. To do the other columns for Player i you need to repeat the same procedure, pointing at the correct position in the table - OK a bit of work, but once done, the same table can be used for any number of tournaments - just change the 16 players names and the game matchups are automatically inserted in their correct positions.

Since this is a doubles tournament, the layout of the invites is slightly different from the singles format, so I won't tackle it in this article, but perhaps the next.

So, back to the possible tournament; "Partnering Your Opponents". Thanks to Julian's information, we have 15 rounds of games partnering everyone once and against everyone twice, so it's a balanced tournament and we only need to work out the points scoring and map details. Points based on number of wins (max 15) might result in many ties and it would have to be a neutral map if only one game is played in each round. So, we could have every player choosing their own map and play 4 games per round, giving us the possibility of a maximum score of 60, with fewer chances of ties.

Ideal, except that I have yet to find an easy way of starting games with every player having a different map and setting. Any hints out there???

(These "tips" are ones that I have tried to make it a bit easier in managing my own tournaments. I am sure there are many different and better methods than these, so please let me know. Any queries on the above I'll be glad to respond to!)

Maps Being Released
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 7&t=168444
A discussion has been started by chapcrap over which maps get made, how and why they get released. It is turning into a discussion on if maps should be retired.

Small/large size differences
Are maps getting to big? Should the small maps be made smaller. Africa 2 has just gone though a redraw to make the small map smaller. Large maps are now coming think and fast but do we really need maps with 200+ territs, and ones that take up most peoples screens. A comment by the foundry foreman has given a clue on whether the new supersized maps will be made in the future.

Late breaking news. natty dread in a fit of displeasure has binned all maps in the foundry because of his World xl map not getting a stamp. That also includes the North America revamp map. What ever happens, I am sure it will get sorted.

Interview merch313 "Tournaments from the foundry" by Flapcake
Spoiler
merch313, those of you who know him, knows hes turnaments, he is also a Tournament Director at CC. I noted that he like to do beta tournaments and have done quite a few to, I asked him if I could interview him about his sight on the relation between Tournaments and the map foundry, fortunately he said yes.

Flapcake "How long have you been creating tourneys?"
merch313 "I have been creating tourneys since May 2010."

Flapcake "How much time do you spend on a tournament (in average)?"
merch313 "Well every tourney is different. But I look at all my tourneys everyday to see if any new games need to be created. So some days its just a few minutes but other days can be a couple hours. Especially the ones that need multiple maps those do tend to take sometime."

Flapcake "How many tournament have you created/participated in?"
merch313 "I have completed 187 tourneys and have 10 ongoing currently and only one waiting. I have played in just about all of my tourneys, with the exception of a few, and have played in numerous others tourneys. I have not kept count but I would think somewhere in the 250 range maybe more."

Flapcake "What are your role in CC?"
merch313 "With the exception of being a TO I have recently been giving the change to be a Tournament Director looking over Large Team Tourneys."

I had prepared 10 questions in advance which include a connection between tournaments and the foundry, and from that merch313 gave some realy good answers.

1. What is most important thing you look for in a map when you are going to create a tournament, the gameplay or graphic design ? ohter stuff ?
Depending on the type of tourney I am running. For my Double Elimination Tourneys I am working through the CC Maps. I usually pick the new beta maps so I can get to play and learn them. Graphics do not come into my decision when creating them but defiantly I do have my favorite map makers ie Tisha. Just got an tourney idea lol look out for Tisha's Map tourney .

2. How imported do you feel the foundry are for tournament creators ?
Not real important. But depending on the maps I would feel how the game play goes and choose a tourney accordingly. Like some maps just play better for Trips or Quads.

3. Do the foundry inspires you for new tournament ideas ?
Oh fore sure! Some maps just scream pick me for a cool tourney idea.

4. Do you keep an eye for new up coming beta map, to have advance for new tournaments ?
I do look at the beta maps that are coming out. I will usually create a Double Elimination one on most new beta maps to get a feel of how it plays.

5. Why did you chose "kingdom of Denmark" for your latest beta tournament ?
It was brand new at the time and wanted to play the map and get familiar with it. I find playing beta maps in tourneys a challenge. Takes out the whole expertise out of the map. We all start on a relatively low knowledge of the map.

6. Do you think there is good connection between tournament creators and mapmakers in the foundry ?
I do not believe so, but I could be wrong. No map maker has asked me specifically how do I think this map would work as a tourney.

7. Would it be possible to create a map with the the only purpose for a specific tournament ?
I think the Coliseum map is kinda used/created for that purpose.

8. Do you feel that beta tournament are very popular ?
I do think beta maps are popular because people want a chance to learn and see how they play. Why not join a tourney that has a map you are looking to play and try to win it.

9. Does it have any significance for players participation in beta tournament with risk for e.g. gameplay could slightly change ?
I think for those of us that enjoy all the new maps its very pleasurable. Even if the settings can change. Its part of the beta world and it does not bother me. In fact the more people that play the betas the more feedback can be given to make the map the best and fair it can be.

10. What would be your advise for new tournament creators if they want to use beta maps ?
For new tournament creators I always give them the same advise whether it is on a beta map or not. That is advise is keep the tourney simple. Get your feet wet and dont just get to ambitious. Running tournaments is a commitment. And if you are too ambitious on your first few you might get overwhelmed.

Thanks to merch313 for letting me interview him, I hope hes answers to my questions can be usefull for new, old tournament and/or map makers.

Phase 2 of CL4 got underway this week with much debate and grievances aired about the format, prompting the addition of a dedicated topic to address those concerns in the form of the Clan League Complaint Box.
Elsewhere, the Newcomers Cup heats up as we come closer to the Final Four becoming the Top Two. Second-time entrants face off on one side of the bracket, while the other side has completely new faces participating. All 4 clans have tough draws in the CC3, so this might be their only Cup success this year. Read on below, as Skillfusniper tells us more!

In other news, Freestyle Reporter IcePack presents a competition on the the CC3, it should only be a 5 min enterprise, so we hope you'll all join to get involved in the event! killing.44 was the uncrowned champion for CC1, can you take his crown?!

NC2 Semi Finals by Skillfusniper33
Spoiler
All games are underway for each of the wars, and it should be a fun one to watch coming down to the finish. Quick look at the scores, and how each clan is doing vs their opponents.
All games are 45 game wars. Higher seed has 22 games, lower has 23 games.

Image vs Image
With GR's home set going out and filling just a few days ago their are no results in for their home maps, and their has only been 1 finished game in the last couple of weeks, which AKA got, leaving us with a score of 7-11 GR leading. I expect many of the AKA home games to be finishing up very shortly and allow them to get a little closer to catching up. The next update should have a very big change in score, and probably a good look at who will going through to the finals from this side of the bracket.

Image vs Image
The second set of games has been created, and have been going on for a little while now. We now have a score of 16-14 LHDD leading. There are still several games that are way up in the air, and don't have any idea who will be coming away with them. It does look like LHDD is destroying on their doubles home games, only dropping 1 game so far, with only 1 more game active in doubles. But MD is making a comeback in triples games. I really don't expect anyone to make a break away from in this war. The final score should be within a couple games of one another. Both of these clans are looking very strong at the moment, and I have a feeling whoever gets the win in this war will be the slight favorites to take down the other side of the bracket.

Good Luck to all participants in their final games, Look for a preview of the finals in the next issue along with a recap of the current wars.

It looks very unprofessional. Bait the interviewers to bait the interviewee, and then post the uncensored results for all to read. Very disappointed in the Dispatch, as I assumed I would be.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if Sully makes this criticism disappear, as he did with all my posts commenting on how it was being handled in the interrogation thread.

Surprised I got TWO shout outs in one dispatch after not playing for 6 months. Now my ego is even bigger.

We ran the interview by the Discussions Team as well to remove any inappropriate answers. To the best of my knowledge, we've kept the interview within forum guidelines.

Frankly guys, if you don't like the person who's going to be interviewed, don't ask questions. And don't read the interrogation. We have spoiler tags for a reason.

There is no longer an art to journalism. Twenty-four hour news networks killed it. Thus, it isn't right to expect any integrity in journalism. Does that hurt your butt? ;)

who said anything about art? nobody is expecting art from a bunch of volunteers for an online newsletter on CC.
what we're expecting is decency and common sense.
what we got was a newsletter that's been turned into GLG's bitch. his own personal blowhorn. an otherwise respectable newsletter that in this issue magically transformed into GLG's trolling/flaming tool. was it fun "bending over" for GLG? did you make "gurgling swallowing sounds"?

hey young kids in the audience, step away from the computers and ask your mothers what "gurgling swallowing sounds" are.

PS: sorry for using that language, but seeing how it passed the moderation of the interviewer, then the moderation of the discussion team and finally sully's close inspection, i'm assuming it's all good. apparently such language is accepted and worthy to be promoted.

I'm sorry, what did you say? *chuckles* Just messing with you :) You are entitled to your opinions and you are allowed to post them, just in the right threads. The interrogation threads are for questions. I don't mind a small tangent as long as it doesn't negatively affect the point of the thread, which it did in that case. This thread is for expressing your opinions, and you're more than welcome to create your own thread in the main Newsletter forum for whatever you want (that's within the Community Guidelines, of course).

I decided a less-edited version of GLG's interview was best. The Newsletter should not censor anything that is within the Community Guidelines (as we have to abide by those, naturally). Everyone can see GLG for who he is (on this forum).

If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, etc., feel free to create a thread or PM me or post here if it applies to this issue specifically.

oh come on don't hide behind forum rules.
people use very explicit curses throughout the forums. that doesn't mean the newsletter should start doing the same.

in the next issue will you say "f*ck him and f*ck her and suck this and suck that"? cause according to the forum rules you're free to do it....

when joining team CC i was expressly told i'm supposed to respect and impose the highest moral standards. that i should not tarnish the CC name with indecency and immorality. i believe all (or most) of the people contributing to the newsletter agreed to the same thing.
and now you're publishing something that's anything but decent and moral and you have the nerve to hide behind forum guidelines.
i'm known for being a hot head and that i can hurt people's feelings but i never cursed anybody and yet this was an important issue when i applied for an official position. hurting someone's feelings even without the use of curses was considered a big no-no so i was told i can't do it.

don't get me wrong safari, i'm not pointing the finger at you. if anybody is to be considered responsible for this then it's sully for ultimately he's the one with the veto right. also he's one of the people who told me i must carefully consider my attitude and stance now that i'm teamCC. kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

anyway, discussing this is futile now. what's done is done.

To clarify, tkr4lf IS an ice cream sundae – and I would not, because his buddies are probably busy eating him. Proof: you sound lumpy, nutty and like you’ve full of cream.
GLG, if you're reading this...you didn't answer my question. You just called me an ice cream sundae, which was kind of the premise of the whole question (although to be fair, your description of me was delicious). What gives?

Well, see, now this is a different argument; now you argue that I am not abiding by the moral standard that TeamCC moderators are to uphold. I am appalled that you have decided to drag my name through the mud in this fashion. Allow me to rebut.

Gen.LeeGettinhed's answers to the community's questions should not and are not a reflection of myself. Just because GLG decided to say some suggestive and borderline baiting/flaming statements, does not mean that I am agreeing with what GLG is saying, explicitly or implicitly. As Chief Executive of the Dispatch, I will take responsibility for including all of its content (and I assure you I am more than proud of every issue that is posted in this forum, including this one), however the views and opinions expressed in articles and interviews I do not necessarily agree with, nor do I have to. I am not going to go through and edit every tidbit that I or someone else might disagree with - that nearly defeats the purpose of this newsletter. Censoring a medium like this almost seems hypocritical, does it not? Sure, if Gen.LeeGettinhed's interview responses included bigotry or something equally undesirable by the vast majority of the population of Conquer Club and also (therefore) a violation of the Community Guidelines, then of course it would be edited out, as it is considered to be universally offensive and does not increase or enhance the experience of reading this newsletter, and I think people would still be able to pick up the way that interviewee has presented him or herself.

If you have anything more to say about me specifically, PM me, report me to my Team Leader, Gilligan, and/or report me to the Community Manager, AndyDufresne. Anymore talk about my integrity or the like in this thread will be considered trolling, and you will be reported, however you are still free to talk about the interrogation.

why wouldn't bigotry be published? it's hugely present in a lot of topics from GD or OT so people obviously don't find this very offensive otherwise all those threads would be locked.

how about religious views? would you publish that? what if the responses of an interviewee would offend somebody's religion? there's plenty of religion bashing going on in the forums, so again, it's not something the majority would find undesirable?

what other decency rules would the newsletter be prepared to break?

i'm assuming that if the vast majority of the community doesn't consider a subject undesirable, then you're willing to publish it.
if racism would fall in that category would you publish it? how about nazi propaganda?

or better yet. will the newsletter sink to the lowest moral point the majority agrees on?

if the newsletter would be a scandal magazine i'd be ok with it cause in the real world scandal sells and those magazines want to make a profit. you're not making a profit here, the newsletter is not a money machine so "scandal sells" doesn't apply here. if you're doing a voluntary thing out of passion at least strive to set a moral example.

Could a "tranny" be referred to as a girlfriend? Just curious.

Not exactly sure on the exact number it was referenced, four I believe, however, what does beating Kiron/MC in ONE doubles game mean anyway? This must have been a monumental feat as it was referenced several times. Perhaps a ten game series would be able to tell true doubles talant a little more accurately than one game?

Edit;
Kiron/MC were referenced 6 times total, 5 of which pertained to the fact that Kiron/MC were beat; Unless my eyes are playing tricks in me, which is entirely possible I guess.

Also I feel like my question was not answered properly. I proposed a hypothetical scenario to which GLG did not respond appropriately.

He claimed multiple times to have a girlfriend and twice denied being behind with the rent. At this point I think it is safe to assume repressed sexuality and/or pathological liar.

ANALOGIES:
There are several famous quotes that come to mind about this article. They go something like this:

"be careful what you ask for -- for you will surely get it"
"don't ask a question that you don't want to know the answer to"
"arguing with some people is like wrestling with a pig. you both get dirty, and the pig has fun"

EDITS:
They DID edit somewhat -- particularly some Q's and a few parts of answers (if not all of some -- there were so many)

Why did they edit out my answer to Chari- about his holiday card? you know, about the fire/brimstone probably burning up his cards before they arrives? wtF?

JOURNALISTIC IMPARTIALITY:
Quoting the Dispatch's "chief executive" (rotf lmFAo on that one):
- 69ing the Conqueror
- "lovely" interrogation of the infamous ranching Conquerer, Gen.LeeGettinhed.
- Some answer may be considered "baiting" or "flaming" by some.
- Everyone can see GLG for who he is (on this forum)
. . .and Editors are supposed to be impartial? wow, maybe I buy the imp part. On #3 he admits it was reviewed, so note it as "reviewed and allowed -- but R rated".

OVERALL:
From responses I've seen and PM's I've gotten, half enjoyed it, a few not so much. so it sounds like a middle-of-the-road concensus was arrived at. Not a whole lot different than US politics.

Your comments can't even be considered flames, because we don't take you seriously.
Your sad attempts at flames only incite laughter - seriously, Ljex and I were cracking up as we read the newsletter... you're nuts.

I mean, it's absolutely incredible to me that you actually think your comments were in any way witty. Instead, rather than make yourself "look good," and make fun of your detractors, all you've done is further prove to us how insane you really are. Aradhus has it right...
GLG - you need help, man.

It's just astonishing that you can't see how your words do not serve to demean your detractors in any way, shape or form...
What most of us see is just a sad, sad man with a broken personality.

I suppose we really ought to pity you... but, I'm not that nice a person. I just can't help but laugh!
