I disagree. When people make spam posts simply to up their post count, it lowers the level of discussion by watering down the actual content of the thread. It becomes far more difficult for the grown-ups to keep up on the topic at hand, when they have to sift through a bunch of kiddies saying things they don't understand, and using numbers in the middle of words, and what-have-you. All-in-all, you is wronger then me.

Post count means absolutely nothing, when it comes to skill.
So to spam, in order to raise your post count, only goes to show, just what a complete moron you really are.

It's like going on a bean diet, so you can fart more than anyone else.
It does not show any great skill, and only stinks up the place. ;)

My thoughts exactly. Thank you for putting it in such a colourful, and understandable manner.

Again, I disagree. You are clearly only posting in order to raise your post count, while not contributing anything of substance to the conversation. It is unnecessary, and you should stop soon-ish, or something.

I'd like to turn this back around to the original question-why does cc not include many sections of the forums towards post count? doesn't participation within a clan or usergroup's forum "count" as much as posting in general discussion?

I do believe it has something to do with not everyone can post in those hidden forums...so there fore those posts do not count toward totals... but.. what do I know.... the rest of ya.. quit spamming or this will get locked ;)

but user groups are a key feature of the site that keeps regulars coming back. shouldn't our participation there be recorded for posterity?

Back to the original suggestion...I can see why it's not included in the forum post count now, because even if nobody spammed, *cough*, it still wouldn't be an accurate reflection of how active certain CC'ers were. For example, topics like Spamalot, and the longest thread thread, are legitimately trying to get people to continuously post...well, not much (per post) in them. Where are both of these? Bumpage!! I do, however, believe that forum posts count to an EXTENT, because right now the post counts not from bumpage mean that they posted somewhere else possibly in a more meaningful forum (Suggs, C&A, Q&A, what have you)...unless you're AoG...then you still spam :P. Will the forum posts ever always reflect a members site involvement? No. Can it? Yes.

Well thankfully you could still your "actual" post count by going to your profile and then clicking on "Search User's Posts".
Unless you spent most of your time back then in Flame Wars...

Then why ARE you spamming? Constantly, even.

off topic post count

Postby betiko on Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:17 pm

off topic post count

Any questions, contact one of the Suggestions Moderators.

Concise description:
I was wondering why are off topics not counted at least separately from CC related posts. I think it would be interesting to have this data separately.

Specifics/Details:
This would only be a separate post count on your wall/bellow your avatar on your forum posts.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
some people are such off topic freaks that it would be good to know you are talking to someone who has created lots of animation on the site's forums. They might have a very low on-topic post count and you might not realize their contribution.

It is not just OT posts that don't count. There are others that also do not count.

I don't have a problem with this. Don't really care either.

like clan forums and usergroups I think. It's just a small thing, but pretty easy to do.

I count that as off topic as it is obviously not cc related as per the OP. speaking of which, stop dodging the mafia game you signed up for! ;)

Logically mafia games should be a sub forum in the off topics. Actually it should be a sub forum under forum games lol.

Eh, the only reason I visit off-topic as often as I do is because it's busiest. I also don't care about anyone's history there ; if the person makes a decent post, I'll consider it, if not I won't. Otherwise, I don't object to the change. I just don't think I would notice it.

well for example I've seen team cc ask other members to ask questions to certain players for their newsletter: sometimes they where offtopic posters with very little games played and very little on-topic posts so just by going on their profile page you would really wonder who these guys were..
It's just another way to see what sort of activity the player has on the site and if he's casual or not.
