[SCBD] Cross Maps on the Scoreboard

Postby sdh on Mon Dec 26, 2011 2:20 pm

Concise description:
Have something on the scoreboard to show who is leading in the amount of maps with 5+ unique defeats

Specifics/Details:
  • Something new to go along with Rank, Medals, Game completed etc on the scoreboard which shows how many maps every player has cross mapped

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Cross-Mapping all the maps is just as much an achievement as a lot medals and a high score
  • Maybe motivate users to try out the new maps constantly being developed

i made a suggestion a few month ago about creating a super acheivement medal for crossmapping all maps not in beta. you would lose it each time a map is realease from beta if you didn't crossmap it yet, but it would be really easy to get it back (anyway once you get it you just need to continue crossmaping any new beta map).
crossmaps is just visible with maprank and it's indeed something important, as the golden crossmap medal with just 60 maps has become too easy.

While, I like that suggestion, it is not what this is about.

I thought this was a simple idea but needs to be very popular if it will ever be put on the scoreboard. Would it be difficult to implement?

Very good idea. I was the first player to get 25 unique defeated opponents on all 200 maps. Still didn't get an award for it. With this idea it maybe motivate players to cross-map as many maps as possible.

I doubt it would be that difficult. Cross-mapping is already a medal that CC keeps track of. So, it shouldn't be that hard to use the information that is already gathered.

I've added a poll. Would love CC to seriously consider this, would be great to see another way to rank players.

just to get this straight,
you want to have a scoreboard counter of how many maps somebody has played?
if so, i dont really see the added value except for short term curiosity. no need to put it up the leaderboard though

Perhaps based upon 5+ unique victories would be more popular?

Not how many maps they have played, how many maps they have cross mapped. I've seen various suggestions about increasing the number of maps needed for the cross map medal, but rather than doing that I thought it would be cool to have the total number of cross maps on the scoreboard.
