Tutorial for New Players

Postby givmeyrmony on Tue Mar 14, 2006 3:06 pm

Wow I think this problem is only going to get worse if there is not a way around it.

I am involved in 2 games right now. One is 6 days old and I have taken only 2 turns because of a new player dead beat, and another over 3 days and only 1 turn. OMG pulling my hair out and not much there to pull out...LOL

I think some people when they start for the 1st time feel it will be just like sitting at a table with the board game infront of you. They don't realize it takes time.

Some kind of manditory tutorial that must be read before starting the 1st game might prevent some of the new player deadbeat problems.

I am not trying to discourage new players... I consider myself one.... but if you are going to join and play............PLAY

no it is possible since he is in a 6 person sequential game and it looks like 2 of the people in the game are going to deadbeat.

I don't really think a mandatory tutorial would help people will just click through it. I think you are going to continue to have deadbeats on the site for forever. People find the site think it's cool and sign up for a few games and then forget about it. I actually did this when I first signed up.

I understand what you are saying Moz......but there has to be a way to avoid this.

I know, don't join a game with new players. Stand to lose more that way anyways.....

Not likely we will see something like this.. think about it. People who like to play, and gets stuck in four deadbeat games, they would pay to get unlimited..

Or they despair, and turn to creating a new account, thus risking (no pun intended) a ban.

My idea of being able to set the turn limit of every turn would eliminate it.

I agree that better communication could reduce the deadbeat problem. I have it on my to-do list to re-word the home page to give potential members a better idea of what they're getting themselves into i.e. that turns can last up to 24 hours.
