While an avatar may be a small thing in the grand scheme, this is beyond trolling. Personally, I have lost the avatar I've used for the last year. I uploaded it from a url (which I have long since forgotten), and when he decided to play his little game, I lost it, seemingly for good. He is wreaking havoc upon multiple usergroups' members' accounts, and should be punished accordingly.
At the same time, I believe the fact that snorri was able to do this is an indication that an oversight has occurred. The site should be changed so that no user is able to do something like this again.
I have found a new avatar, and will likely find more in the future that I like, but that doesn't change the fact that I did not choose to change it at this point in time, and if it isn't up to each individual user when/if they change their avatar, then there's something wrong here.
If I wanted a social clan as my default I would have had it done myself. It's the principle of the matter if we didn't wish to be apart of your childish prank you should have left us out of it. Now mod's need to get involved to correct your stupidity. I would hope you get at least a warning for you efforts

My avatar is gone also. Can't get it back. This sucks....
Can Snorri be banned for this? Its way beyond trolling.

You mean Libel, sir. 1. Law. a. defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures. b. the act or crime of publishing it. c. a formal written declaration or statement, as one containing the allegations of a plaintiff or the grounds of a charge. 2. anything that is defamatory or that maliciously or damagingly misrepresents.
Know your words and use them well.
I AM MASTER SHEEP, TEH AWESOME

The fact that the individual in question clearly is not even remotely repentant for his actions in actually DAMAGING the avatars of other users (through their permanent loss) tells me that he in fact should be banned. A warning is not sufficient for someone who is supposed to part of the administration of the site (else how could he have had the power to do such a thing?).
This is strange. I have had many an interesting exchange of posts with Mr. Snorri. He has always been civil, intelligent, and insightful in his posts. I am stunned, simply stunned that trolling even goes on here.

wait... did this guy actually say that snorri is part of the administration of the site?!!! ha!!!! that is just hilarious... fyi, clan leaders and group leaders are granted powers within their forums, which include the ability to designate a clan wide/group wide avatar. very few clans/usergroups use this feature, and snorri just decided to abuse it...-0

I see. That leads me to another question, then. How is it that he has the capability to abuse this feature OUTSIDE OF his own clans/usergroups (as claimed within the thread)?
mpjh wrote:If he changed the avatar for the clan, it would change the appearance of the avatar everywhere on the site.
I understand that. And maybe I misunderstood what the individual was saying (and worded my question poorly above, as well)...it seemed to me that the individual was saying that he is not a member of any of Snorri1234's clans/usergroups, yet his avatar had been changed as well. That's what I meant by "outside of his clans/usergroups"...I was referring to membership outside of, not location outside of (sorry about that).
If owenshooter is correct about mod power in clans, then Snorri could only do this to members of a clan in which he is a mod. If this is happening in any other case, Snorri isn't doing it. In fact, he may not be doing it at all, that is still to be determined.
I just think all this bluster about crucifying Snorri over a mildly annoying prank is pretty silly. It is, after all, just an avatar. If your avatar was so important to you then why didn't you back it up somewhere? Links break from time to time, for all sorts of reasons, so if you really want to preserve your content keep a local copy.

Maybe it's a conspiracy - several mods acting in concert to promote some diabolical agenda that has yet to be revealed.
