[UI] Link Embedded in Map Names in Games

Post by chapcrap »

Concise description:
  • Make a link to the map thread in every game with the map's name.
Specifics/Details:
  • Create a link somewhere in the game page. When you click on it, it takes you to the thread of the map you are playing on.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It will help everyone report bugs about the map.
  • It will help the players see how the map was made.
  • This would be especially helpful with BETA maps that are still being worked on.

MERGED SUGGESTION:
Concise description:
  • Put the name of the map somewhere in the game
Specifics/Details:
  • Somewhere, in every game, have a spot where the name of the map that you are playing on is listed in the game.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  1. If someone stumbles upon a game and they weren't sure what map it was, they would know.
  2. If you join a random game and join a map that you've never played on, you would know what it was so you could go ask for help or find strategies.
  3. With nearly 200 maps, there is a lot of maps to play on and it's getting more and more difficult to remember all of the names of every map. It would be nice to see it listed somewhere inside the game.

I too support this feature, but since the map name is listed on the "My Games" page, it isn't strictly necessary.

True, but if you're looking at someone else's games then it is helpful.

Seriously support this idea, Ive tried to copy paste map names a couple times before and was like, "why in this world is the map not here?" Also sometimes want to know whether the map was picked or if it was Random. Difficult when you have a high number of games.

For some reason I thought the name was already there. Anyway, feel like this is an obvious suggestion that can be implemented in approx. 5 seconds.

5 seconds? Yeah, why aren't you a programmer? You'd be rich.

How long is 5 seconds to an Army of GOD? Time is nothing to him. ;)

Still, I would really like this. Especially with all of the new maps coming in.

Aren't all map names noted on the map itself?

Nope. Some are, but not all of them at all.

I know you're Mexican, but it's called hyperbole.

For example, no one would look at the High Seas map and know to look for "High Seas" in the game finder dropdown box.

Yeah, there's one. I can't tell you the rest because they don't have the names on them, so I don't know what they are. ;)

If you look at Asia, you would think it was called Far East.
If you look at Baseball, you would think it was called King of Diamonds.
Crossword has no name.
If you look at Eastern Hemisphere, you would think it was called End of Empires.

I don't want to go through the whole list to look at them all. Aside from those listed there are many more than having something close, but not the actual name. For instance, on the map of Gilgamesh it says 'The Age of Gilgamesh' and CCU says 'Conquer Club University' and Egypt: Nubian says 'Nubian Egypt the Gold Kingdom'

Bump on this.

This has been partially completed with the Asia map name being changed. Still a bunch more to go!!

Chapcrap pointed me here like I have a special power to make this one possible.
Unfortunately we have already asked in past to lackattack to have the map name/link to map thread (like tournaments games) at the top of the map.....i don't know why it has never been implemented. As everyone in the foundry know my wish list is a long one but it seems that for now I can't strike off the things listed into it. :(

I have no idea why that map was named Baseball in the map list. King of Diamonds is the actual name of the map. Like it says on the map.

I pointed you here since the foundry made the Asia name change. I didn't know how much power you had.

It'd be good IMO, and I think Evil_D would agree as well... though you might want to check with him just to be sure.
