How to be colonel in 50 games: The Emmdizzle Method

Post by waseemalim »

Please refer to Game 7267422 or Game 7267442 while following this guide.

If implemented well, this is guaranteed to work. It has been widely and successfully employed by Emmdizzle, one of the highest ranked players on the site.

Procedure:

1. First, find a reliable low ranker (preferably cook with <500 points) with whom you can team up. Be friends with him. The only thing that you need to make sure is that he makes his move on time, and is on board with the strategy.
**You are strongly encouraged to get his password for account sitting purposes. That way you can ensure that there is no missed turns.

2. Create as many games as you can with these settings: Doubles, 8 players, Oasis, Freestyle, Automatic, Chained, Flat rate, Foggy. The foggy part is quite important.

3. Now comes the tricky bit. Once the games are created, you must send random invites to 1 person in each team. So while waiting the game looks like this:

[Your Name]
[Your Friend's Name]
-reserved-
-empty-
-reserved-
-empty-
-reserved-
-empty-

It's not really important who you invite (although I'd strongly recommend not inviting anyone over the rank of lieutenant). It's not even important whether the person joins the game. What is important is that one spot on each team is blocked off. That way no team can come and take away your glory.

4. Keep a watchful eye on your games waiting. If one of the invitation expires before the second spot in that team has been filled, then send another one out. But once the second spot has been filled, you dont have to worry about sending out invites. This is an awesome way to ensure that your teammates will not know each other, and that no proper doubles team will meddle in your game. You really don't want people who can coordinate their strategy.

If you think this is illegal, you're wrong. But don't be ashamed, because you are likely among the 80% of CC population who thinks that this is abuse. However, it is not abuse. It has been "noted" by the mods and they are reluctant to set a precedence. So go ahead and use this legal method. For reference: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 9&t=121537

5. Now wait for the game to fill up. If your rank is very high, be sure to run away as soon as you see someone who might be a problem, but otherwise you are good.

6. Once the game starts, your only objective for the first 5 rounds is to grab cards and cash them. Make sure your team mate is doing the same. It is advisable that you start moving towards the grand oasis, but that's not too important. Grab easy cards -- both of you. Ideally, you should have settled yourself in one of the smaller oases by round 3 (and built a sizable stack on it).

7. By round 5 or 6 you should have enough troops to make a successful run at the grand oasis. Do it. Go and grab the grand oasis and sit tight. Given that this is freestyle, you should attempt to make your move *after* everyone has done so.

8. If you have followed the above steps well, no one should have foreseen this. Recall that your game is filled with people who don't coordinate all to well. And also that this is foggy so they won't have a clue as to when this happens.

9. Now, keep watching your games. Be on the site constantly or get a Turn notifier (http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 527&t=8225). Because this is best executed quickly. As soon as someone presses begin turn, you are all set. All you need to do is press begin turn and the game will be yours. Yes, as easy as that.

10. Oh, and in case someone figures it out, foe him/her. You don't need haters ruining your game.

Happy pillaging. Hoping to see some new colonels soon, and may be one of you can better the master, Emmdizzle, himself.

The links to reference games, useful scripts, and helpful posts by mods to clarify the legality of this method really take this strategery advice to a level above and beyond most of the articles in this forum. How very thorough!

Bravo, waseemalim, bravo!

I will get ready to start this strategy very soon. Any cooks out there looking for a partner?

As the article says, preferably <500 points.

Emm invited me to one of those, hehe, So I invited Leehar as my partner and tried to sock it too him, but he got me. What can I say first time on map.
So day after I come across a game of his with expired invite, team opening :P So I invite my regular dubs partner Nicky15 and go for round two. Nicky must have looked scary though cause Emm ran for the hills leaving his little cook to fend for himself

From an objective standpoint, What Emm is doing is brilliant. Sun Tzu would applaud him, and every other top "farmer" that attempts to assure victory by handpicking unorganised or incompetent opposition in one way or another. only fighting battles you've got an excellent chance of winning is good strategy.

That said, I hope to see Emm abandon his methods and go do somthing else once he reaches #1.. otherwise in my humble opinion it's slightly sad and pointless. just my 5c though.

Then we have those that have tried and failed. No many how many winners KLOBBER foes, poor ratings he leaves, or games he plays on a certain map, he can't seem to get past Major. I guess one should know when to give up?

Those I respect are people like Xiangwang & Kiron, who sure play a complex map or two, but play -anyone- on it, no foeing winners, no manipulating who the opposition is. They prove you can play clean, still kick some serious arse, and get yourself to t10. If they never reach #1, who cares, in my eyes they are leagues above those that seek out loopholes in the rulebook to gain points.

Well, we do abuse the freestyle system  (and also don't have the patience for everyone to take their turn 24 hour per player because we are freemium). Also, we can't play millions of games to take advantage of team games to gain significant amount of points and I know I'm trying to get the highest score under 100 games :P

You are either really blind or really stupid. I cannot figure it out. I will assume both in this case.

no, i see what is going on, i just do not know or like the way it was handled. like i said before , the rules or the ways of cc, can be altered in many shapes or forms, not that it is moral or right. maybe it is a way of farming, whos to decide that, the mods, which there has not been a post from them yet. it was or is a clever way to rank up, just like there are other ways as well { within the law} some people trips / quads, and troll on noobs, while others venture out in the 1v1 land of luck of drops and cards. as well as the guy who sits there in a freestyle game tapping R over and over to wait till the last possible second, or even yet, misses the 1st turn in a freestyle to get the deferred men shit as well. and that is another law that should be ended, if you miss a turn , too fuckin bad, you lose the men as well.
so in short, i understand completly. but no rules were broken and if this is so wrong, change the rules or changed the way how a team 1 cant invite a noob on a opposing team , unless he has a noob as well.....within reason

Everyone knows it takes point manipulation to rise up near the top of the scoreboard. Some of these manipulation tactics seem to cross a hazy line into abuse or at least questionable ethics. There have been many people who have demonstrated "questionable ethics" in rising to the top, but this fellow here tops all of them. My question is, is it worth it? After attaining conqueror, some new up and comer will dethrone you, guaranteed. And who will remember you then?

In this thread, not once have I claimed that the rules were broken. In fact, because it is within the rules, I decided to post it in the strategy forum. I think its a fantastic strategy that anyone keen on getting points should follow.

The title should now be changed to "How to be Conqueror in 50 games: The Emmdizzle Method" because of this.

he's such a [bigotry left out]. He gets to conqueror by working the system at least as bad as anyone I've seen (David may be worse, idk). Then he stops playing, he has two active games now, none waiting for players, I'm sure he'll start one game 29 days after those finish or something just so he can keep his special red symbol absolutely as long as possible.

Wow - what's the point of getting to the top if you have to effectively stop playing? We're supposed to be here to kill each other and have fun doing so!

This whole thread reminds be a bit of the Tour de France. Doesn't matter who wins it nowadays, everyone just nudges each other and wonders how many drugs it took to get there...

"To foresee the victory that the ordinary man can foresee is not the acme of excellence. Neither is it if you triumph in battle and are universally acclaimed 'expert', for to lift the autumn down is no feat of strength. To distinguish between the sun and the moon is no test of vision, to hear the thunderclap is no indication of acute hearing. In ancient times those skilled in war conquered an enemy easily conquered. And therefore the victories won by a master of war gain him neither reputation for wisdom nor merit for courage. For he wins his victories without erring. Without erring he establishes the certainty of victory; he conquers an enemy already defeated..." ~Sun Tzu

Only if more players were like my dear friend Ninja in this game. Game 7271496

Although I think he has now been Foed also. I think we just need to start bombarding his games.

Nice Emmdizzle. That sounds like a solid strategy that works within the rules established on CC. I can applaud that.

I am also fairly certain Sun Tzu would applaud that, especially based on the quote posted a few up from this post.

All that said, it doesn't sound all that fun. And it also doesn't demonstrate a mastery of CC by any means. A true master of the game would have the ability to venture into many settings, many maps, and put forth a solid performance.

We all play with different goals in mind though. I like encountering various strategic problems that I may or may not have foreseen and may or may not have crafted for myself, and seeing if I can win no matter what the drop/dice/map/opponent/teammate/cards have handed me.
