Sick of 80% of the site

There is nowhere to flame, so I'm complaining here. This isn't a dice bitch thread, just a thread about the current state of the site, its features and the players on this site.

(1) With nowhere to flame/vent, I'm left to seethe. I've recently had Game 7297948 archive so I've gotten some lovely ratings from it. First, before the manual deployment phase is over, General Stoneham[/****] tries to turn the game into a 6v2 and as a result of me running anti-propaganda the rest of the game, I've had multiple things happen.

(a) A cook and a guested player have left me all 1's - while this cook also rated this guested player (GS), I got worse ratings despite having won and despite this cook tagging Stoneham as having cheap tactics, lovely.

(b) This 6v2 tactic isn't classified as an abuse of the site, which is absolute cow bollocks - teams and players can negotiate alliances and tactics in the game chat, but to do it before the manual deploy phase is over is akin to a premeditated alliance in my opinion.

(c) There is no way to challenge shit and retarded ratings unless the player has a history of those types of ratings. Unlike the feedback system which was indicative of the player's train of thought and reveal vindictiveness or stupidity, the feedback system masks your third level of Down's Syndrome, congrats for buffering the trolls who act like a dick 100% of the time, but rate players like that 49% of the time.

(2) Seriously, where the f*ck is the feedback system? Do people read tags? f*ck no, they're as interesting as reading Stoneham's memoirs. Sure it might indicate something like an inferiority complex or having a tendency to molest collies, but no one reads them. The feedback system was oodles more interesting because it was like a yearbook and people could explain why someone was good, not just "Good tactics". And an added bonus of the feedback system was, as mentioned above, the ability to challenge clowns were are vindictive ass-hats. I understand it might have been extra work for Multi-Hunters, but maybe introduce a new group like Troll-Hunters, CC wants volunteers, CC can get volunteers.

(2.5) The wall is one of the worst and piss poor attempts at recreating the feel of the feedback system but it doesn't work because now there are game trolls, it's easily manipulated by its owners, and it's just as easily spammed by the entire site. Is it quick? Yes. But would it reveal anything like the feedback system was? No. The feedback system was the equivalent of the "Good war" line after a match, but the wall is akin to ADD middle school girls throwing notes at each other.

(3) I am sick of everyone talking about medals. When this was instituted I died a little inside. I don't care about anyone's Ultra Gold Nuclear Deploy Freestyle Medal. All the site has done is reinforce the smug sense of superiority felt by a majority of the players already and reduce the quality of games and tournaments. There are seriously at least 4 tournaments named "So I can get a medal" or something equivalent of that. There are players who have hosted the smallest tournaments possible to just got a medal, it's sickening. Seriously, what happened to something epic like AndrewB's Doubles Tournament? Sure there are some gems out there, but the time and effort don't translate for a medal being given to any tom, DICK,and harry who put together a 3 games series on doodle earth. Seriously, next person who hosts an epic tournament, I'll send $5. Next person who hosts a 1 map, 3 game tournament on doodle, I'm punching in the grundel.

(3.5) Look at the quality of public games available, it is absolute shite. Does anybody really want to play Woodboro Nuclear? How about these AoR games with manual deploy? You've only got 2 territories to start anyway, the settings are rubbish. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. And it's all so someone can say "LOL i gotz 217 METALZ! Kthxbye1!11!" - ugh.

(4) CC advertises itself as a user-driven community, then explain why Suggestions go unaddressed for years and why XML Suggestions are equally unheeded. For Christ's sake, there's a thread in Suggestions about Removing Feedback from those Convicted of Feedback Abuse and there's no argument against doing it and yet it's gone unaddressed forever. Look at Jakewilliams suggestion re: Map XML - who hasn't gotten pissed about having an opponent drop 12 and then ruin you the remainder of the game b/c of the initial advantage? And yet these user-submitted suggestions which are GREAT are completely ignored.

(5) CC needs to enforce the age limit. Maybe that limit is at 15-16, but seriously the five year olds permeating through the threads and speed games has made it both lame and irritating to read the forums or play a speed game. Remember when a high quality speed game could be started within 5 minutes years ago? Not anymore, unless you want to play 8 person assassin on Doodle Earth.

(6) Get rid of the title "Conqueror", I cannot name 5 players I would consider worthy of the title who have held it. Maybe I'm not the CC Historian/Scholar I should be but the title is irrelevant, competent players know who is good on the site, and those dumb enough to think someone with the title "Conqueror" is actually the best player on the site are those usually being farmed by them. Great system.

(7) Stop the self-congratulatory threads. There are certain accomplishments which should be lauded, but I do not care if (a) you cross some post threshold or (b) you had a girl talk to you at your 14th birthday party. Seriously, the only achievements I have found impressive lately are Highlander Attack's 100 tournament victories and Iron Maid's 100% cross map against 10 different opponents. I seriously could care less that the map you play quads on most is some once a year laugher.

(8) Stop the dice streak threads. You complain about dice anywhere besides Live Chat, Game Chat and Private Forums, you get a one week ban from using the forums. It's like your golf game, NO ONE ELSE GIVES A SHIT WHAT YOU SCORE, quit using the public threads to point out that maybe the dice system is flawed. You want a superior game without dice, pm me and I'll send you to it, seriously I swear to god there's a better game out there that's currently free, I just have no one to play me there so I waste my time here.

[*] Great point about the cook/conqueror situation, but I'm a perfectionist. I hate blemishes and especially when I feel they're completely unfounded. I recognize I'm acting like a woman scorned, but without a forum to flame I'm just left to fume. It's just my personality type, I've got a sharp tongue and short fuse - I'm generally laid back but without an outlet (and I consider the respond twitter tag in ratings to not be a forum) I've got no real way to rebuff these clowns

[*] I agree I should take a step back and relax. Certain things are not going to change, ratings and medals. But as I mentioned with the user-driven aspect of the site, there are certain suggestions being ignored that would contribute to the site.

[*] And that sort of feeds into my last point - making public games. The only way to get the best types of games with the best types of settings currently are clan challenges. Without a 12 hour fog rule (which has been suggested) which allows even odds when a fog game drops, it is problematic to host a fog game and not get first drop. The other team will get (1) first look at the map, (2) first turn to rearrange the map and (3) first turn to decrease a terr count or snag a hidden bonus. Currently clan challenges resolve this with the 12h wait rule, but in public there's no real etiquette. I get how I could go to callouts and arrange games privately but I just haven't yet. Maybe it's because I'm not as irritated as I seem or I'm just lazier than I am miffed.

Like I said, good post but I think too many people think the good outweigh the bad, when there are certain aspects which can and should be fixed. And I just needed a means to vent because jakewilliams boots me from Live Chat when I get irritable.

I feel you. Recently, I got a 3-star attitude rating. I exchanged some friendly and humorous banter with one player in chat and said "good game" upon death, so I saw it as unjustified. It was a revenge-rating from a player who was butthurt for being foed after what I felt was abuse of deferred troops on the Hive map.

However, I don't care and I don't think many do. When I get bored and find myself reading somebody's ratings, I pretty much ignore all ratings left by anybody less than a captain anyway. I recommend reading The Art of Living by Epictetus. Stoic philosophy at its best.

If these are ever officially frowned upon, I'll be the first to lock them. I think the dice streak threads are allowed because the act of making your own thread is probably somewhat "empowering" and allows that person to vent a bit more. Doesn't it? The moment that you create a meaningless tag, then swarms of dweebs will start thinking of ways to game the system to achieve aforementioned tag. Why do they do it? Who knows. Perhaps it's what they regard as achievement. Ultimately, their motivation is irrelevant.

Of course, once you realise what arbitrary tags (achievements, medals, scores, etc) actually do, then then you reach the logical conclusion that all of those meaningless tags are probably bad for this site, as they do nothing other than promote system-abuse and inflate the egos of dweebs. As such, perhaps it's the case that CC would be a better place entirely if it got rid of all forms of scoring and medals altogether. After all, what point is there in farming, multi-ing, making dumb tournaments, tedious threads wheezing about rank and generally circle-jerking with one's e-buddies, etc; if nobody will give you a pointless shiny bauble for doing so?

Obviously taking such a step would elicit a temporary outcry from the dweebs who really cared about their 'achievements' and who felt that their 'investment' was being taken away from them. But once all of the transitionary hubub died down, wouldn't this site actually be a better place?
