Peoples' Names: Why do you use it?

Postby deathcomesrippin on Mon Oct 18, 2010 12:06 pm

I am doing an article for the CC Newsletter about the names people use and why for the freestyle section. This is a callout to everyone who surfs the forums, if you have a reason for using your name that is unique or interesting, fire me off a PM about it so I can include it in the next article I submit. (I was going to go through the scoreboard until I realized how large the scoreboard actually IS. F that.) Try not to include any form of racism or extremely vulgar stories, if thats the case do not message me as I cannot add those to my article. Also, there is no need to try to spice it up or make it funny, I just want to hear about people reasons for their names, the real reasons. Thank you.

I remember an old General Discussion topic about why people chose the names they did---perhaps it can be of some use!

I had no idea I'd be active on the forums and chat, or I would have chosen a better name. I signed up to a bunch of online strategy sites at the same time after playing the Risk board game over Thanksgiving and having my love of that game rekindled. This is the only one I've stuck with. I wish I would have known how deep my addiction would have gone, I would have chosen something with more flair.

mine's an abbreviation (not a face like every1 thinks). it stands for Armed_Death. in other online games i play, i'm really good at and i'm almost always in (at least) the top 200. but, as u can c by my score, i'm not really that good at this one, so Armed_Death doesn't really seem to fit it... XP

there are 3 variations of this name that i use

I couldn't think of a username, and had just been watching scrubs. So thought of banana hammocks.....I only later found out what banana hammocks were, having assumed it was just two amusing words joined together!

I used to have a monthly tequila party at an apartment I used to have. A friend of my roommate had a birthday and they showed up after going to burger king and were wearing the crowns they give kids for their birthday. Tequila + a Burger king birthday crown + me= a party I dont remember much of... but thats where I got that nickname.

masterpice? that is prob the most boring book ever. For those who haven't read it...imagine 600 pages to read when it could easily be taken down to 200 without doing anything to change the plot.

My name comes from my favorite character, Victor "Sully" Sullivan, from Uncharted. I also look like him (no joke - people have asked me before if he was based off of me, but once they get to know me they realize I'm not much like him apart from looks). :D
