"loose" isn't the same thing as "lose"

Postby tec805 on Mon Oct 24, 2011 2:21 pm

Your brain is loose in your skull, which is why it rattles when you shake your head. You lose your mind when you roll poorly and lose your battle.

I can understand so many people spelling "your" when they meant "you're" or "were" instead of "we're" because I'm not a total grammer/spelling nazi, but come on folks, post after post I read "loose" (in some cases 3 or 4 times in one post!) and I think Webster is going to change the definition just to accommodate all the misspellers on this site!

As long as I'm bitching, did I mention my dice suck? :D

In the UK a toilet is aka a loo. The plural is loos. So one could let loose in the loo. Or maybe lose some loose in the loos.

Yes, Ironically, in this situation looose is more correct than loose. This one is definitely my biggest pet peeve though, of all the common grammar mistakes.

Isn't it... UR sowrite?

The your/you're/you are & were/we're/we are & there/their/they're/they are
is much worse than lose, loose and yoose.

Speeling is very problematic.

I say old chaps, there seems to be a rampant case of grammatical misspellings in this thread.
