Annual Risk Classic 2011

Postby AndyDufresne on Tue Sep 13, 2011 8:20 am

Ahoy Conquer Club Members,

As some of you may know...just around the corner is Steelhorse's Annual Risk Classic---(Official Website located here.) We have been proud to in-part be a sponsor and promoter of the Annual Risk Classic. It is a terrific event by one of our own community members, and it is a great fit for our World Domination Club.

In the past, Conquer Club has had a few members participate in the event, carrying the website's banner. This year, we'd like to mix it up a bit, and thrown down a challenge to any members of the Conquer Club community that attend the Annual Risk Classic.

So what's in this community-wide throw down?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • The Challenge
      • Place (make it to the final table) in any of the Annual Risk Classic's tournaments.
  • The Players
      • Any and all Conquer Club community members that attend are eligible of course!
  • The Reward
      • 3 Months of Premium Membership, a General Achievement Medal, & bragging rights for being a strategy bad-ass.

So, think you are up to the challenge? Best of luck!

If you plan on attending the Annual Risk Classic, feel free to drop us a line in this topic, and when you are at the event, keep us in the-know via Twitter and Facebook!

And don't forget to keep an eye on the coming issues of the Conquer Club Dispatch for a spotlight of the Annual Risk Classic and Steelhorse!

I want to go, but I'm just starting up this new business - if I'm not busy that weekend I'll be there. But I may not know until the last minute.
If I go should I do some of my standup comedy?

I know I've said this before, but this event would be 1000x cooler if the location changed every year, so as not to permanently limit the attendees to "people who can find their way to some town in eastern Pennsylvania over a long weekend".

Well, I guess you have to keep in mind that the people who are doing this are in Pennsylvania. I know if I ran this event I wouldn't want to fly all the way to LA or something to do it (which would probably be a net loss with travel costs and everything).

You guys are completely capable of doing something yourselves if you want.

ARC is soooo much fun! Bethlehem is a cool town, so the whole trip makes for an enjoyable weekend. The hotel is nice, the event is well organized, and the shuttle will take you to the casino, so there's even a complimentary designated driver!

Although I am sitting this year out, I'm really looking forward to next year, so y'all should make sure you go and have a great time so you can rub it in my face as I'm sleepily wiping baby spit up off my shoulder.

That would be great, Jonesy. This year, one of our participants is coming in from England, who also is a comedien. He has offered to perform as well, while the rest of us kick back and have a few cocktails on Saturday night. Maybe you guys could collaberate and do a whole show...wooot.

Actually, the guy who runs it...namely me...lives in New York, about 2 hours away. And, next year I will be running it from Boston. It's no jump across town for me, either. But, that's where the biggest base of players is. Eventually, as it grows I will move it to a new, more accessible location. But, for now it's baby steps. However, last year we did have players in from Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Massachusettes, Rhode Island, Illinois, and Delaware. And, this year a player is flying in from England. It can't be in everyone's backyard, but people do make the effort.
