[21-Jan-2008] Today's technical difficulties

Postby lackattack on Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:49 pm

After installing an updated version of the Classic map, many complaints started to pour in about it. I rushed a bit too quickly to put the old version back. Two bad things happened:

1. I uploaded incorrect map code from a backup. This caused everyone who took their turn on the Classic map to earn bonuses for ALL continents :(

2. Changing map versions too many times caused a database overload, which made the website unstable. Many forum posts submitted during this time appear in duplicate. I had to take down the website for repairs.

I'm sorry for all the trouble. I'll try to not let it happen again :)

If you were in a Classic map game or speed game that was affected by these mishaps, we will delete the game and refund any points lost/gained. Please submit a support ticket to Technical Support & Game Problems via the Help page containing the game number(s) and a staff member will verify and delete the game.

no bother lack and the offer to restore pts. is a very generous one and I am sure will be appreciated by all.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

We are still trying to track down the exact source of that bug, but if you switch browsers (IE->FF or FF->IE, can't remember which), it should work

If you can't submit a ticket, PM me and I'll forward it...but use the support ticket first, pretty please!

Thanks Twill. I was using FF and getting that error but I gave it a go with IE and everything worked fine

f.o with your 'loss'

more like a desperate rush to start as many turns as you could, no wonder you are letting it lie.

Game 1602976

2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 5 armies for holding North America
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 2 armies for holding South America
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 5 armies for holding Europe
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 7 armies for holding Asia
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 2 armies for holding Oceania
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 3 armies for holding Africa
2008-01-21 22:38:56 - Longbeard receives 3 armies for 5 territories
2008-01-21 22:45:30 - Longbeard deployed 27 armies on Eastern United States

It’s funny that he’s holding the entire map with 5 territories! He must be very very influential!

Please delete! I was going pretty badly anyway!

To everyone who has these problems, go to Help tab on top put the subject and description and submit the e-ticket. I did and it was deleted within an hour.

Happened in game 1459910, is there no way of having them removed? Would be a shame to delete the whole game as its quite nicely balanced.
