Yay, haha thanks Well it's great to have such committed players who join games in a timely manner. Otherwise it's a nightmare Still a while to go. Well done so far, it will be interesting how the later rounds will carry out! Keep at it everyone
January 9 Update
Standings and the logs for all the groups have been updated.
Just as some general notes on our progression through this opening stage:
5 of the 16 original groups remain in play.
21 of the 64 original players remain alive (only 16 advance).
So we still have a little bit to go but I anticipate to finish in the first or second week of February, and then we'll immediately kick off the Sizzling Sixteen. Thanks for your commitment thus far.
It's the end of the month, and only 3 of the 16 groups remain in action. Therefore, I believe we are right on track and the next stage, the Sizzling Sixteen, should begin around the middle of February. This stage only has 25% of the players the opening stage had, so should take MUCH less time, since there's fewer groups. I'll go over all the details once we get there!
Things already getting very interesting here in the Sizzling Sixteen:
Group A has already degenerated into a 1v1 showdown between Domicas and donelladan, both majors and favorites to win the group or even the tourney (Domicas made it to the final 4 in last year's competition).
With 1 piggie already roasted in Group B, results are split across 3 players (cdbridges, chutley, Riskmaster101), each with 1 letter.
Group C's now also come down to a 2-man showdown, while Group D remains just about all square. Group B is on the brink of suddenly ending if chutley can put away 2 victories against his opponents in the group.
And, of course, more and more players have found their way into the grill and onto your dinner plate. Yomnomomom so good
Domicas claims victory in Group A following 7 fierce rotations and a showdown with donelladan.
Thus the first of our 4 finalists has been determined. Meanwhile, all 3 alive players in Group D are tied with 2 letters a piece, a virtual deadlock...
