1) Points system: was it fair? Should there be more emphasis on winning? less?
2) Scheduling: was it too compact? I'm leaning towards 10-14 days between sets instead of 7, since I think at one point I had 14 league games (of my own) going at once.
3) Matchups: in the next generation, I'm thinking to still emphasize divisional play, but also introduce some inter-divisional play as well.
4) Choice of settings: should I force people to pick 2 esc and 2 flat? or one esc, one flat, one no card, and one of their choice? I could manage the flow much better that way.
5) Other....

By the way, responses to #2 could be incorporated into the final round. I'll probably poll all 6 advancers on that point.

Thanks!

1) I liked the points system. Very fair. It means even in matches you don't stand a (reasonable) chance of winning, you still have motive to play (eliminating (or weakening) competition).
2) One week was fine by me.
3) I like divisions (from my experience with this and the Iron Man competition anyway) the way they are.
4) Eh, I'd say allow them to continue as is. Or perhaps lose no cards as an option (was it an option? thankfully no one in my group seemed to have chosen it).
5) As far as tournaments go, I don't think theres too much more that needs to be done by ways of improvement. Though more stages would be nice (ie. divisions -> qualifiers > finals).

1)Points seem fair to me. I think my division worked out accordingly to who won what. I know wolfmaster destroyed me in a bunch of games, so it makes sense for him to advance.
2)A little more space between games would be nice. My games moved slowly at times, so less of a pile up would be well received.
3)Some inter-division games would be swell. Variety is the spice of life.
4)I liked the setting choices. I might have picked a no cards if it was an option, but they do tend to run longer.
5)Great tournament!

hmm i don't know I was the only low ranker in my team with spidey and dcc being the top players.

I would have preferred to play alongside players about my level and it might also have reduced the "fear factor" for some of the more experienced players. ie they might have not concentrated on eliminating me first

Please no 'no cards' games some of our games went on past 40 rounds as it is....

still got one on round 38 which is nowhere near finished. Got a bit fed up of playing the same players again and again. Most of them I hope never to see again in CC I'm that sick of them.

Anyway PJ thanks for the tourament even if it cost me a couple of hundred points I'm sure others lost more and I did win a esclating tournament for the 1st time and also gained 166 pts in the process making up for all the defeats

1. I think you got it right.
2. Yes, too compact for me. 14 days would be better
3. I'm happy with the way it is. The familiarity with your division's players meant for more tactical plotting than you would have playing "strangers" IMO.
4. No cards games would last far too long, other than that I don't mind how its done.
5. From a personal perspective, I'd quite the games to be terminator rather than standard games but other than that no complaints - its a great tournament.

Hmm. I just ran the math, and you might as well eliminate me from Div II contention, pj. Nothing's changed, but I just noticed....

If I win out my last 3 games... 68 in a tight division, theoretically possible... BUT:
If General Franco is NEXT out of ALL his games, 67 points.
If Inonzuk is NEXT out of ALL his games, 67 points.
If Elwar is NEXT out of ALL his games, 67 points.

Then we have Game 907307, in which I'm left playing against just the three of them. About that time, the amusement factor kicked in, just in time to cut off the depression.

It does kind of lend me the role of kingmaker.... screw that, if I win games, I can still get rank points!

1) the points system was ok. i didnt get off to a good start but still managed to stay in contention(still am,just)

2)the 7 day gap didnt bother me, but then neither would a 10 day gap

3)playing the same old faces was fine, it gave me a chance for revenge(or not) after my poor start.

4)i prefer it the way it is

5) more rounds before the final set would be good

great tournament would join the next one whatever you decide

I was going to type it all out, but I have the exact same opinions as Gypsys Kiss, so I saved myself the time.

Hi all!

First of all I want to apologize to all players of my division (D4) for not joining my week 4 games, and thank Kernal Kronic for taking my place for this week. I was on vacation and gave my password to a friend to make my moves, but forgot to give him the right instructions how to join the tournament games. Sorry for that misunderstanding!

I was really surprised, that the points Kernal Kronic earned were counted to my score. Although I would really like to play the next round of the tournament, it might be fair if I donĀ“t get the points for week 4... (I think Forza would also like to play the next round and probably deserves it more than me... ;-))

But now to the feedback:

1) I think the points system is good as it is.
2) The schedule was not too compact for my liking. If it was more streched, the tournament would take even longer than 8 weeks and thereby the chance that somebody leaves the tournament before its over is enhanced.
3) I like the divison play. Besides the matchups get much more complicated if you add interdivisional games, although playing against more different opponents might also be fun.
4) I would exclude no card games as well as adjacent fortifications, because they often lead to very long games, that makes the duration of a tournament quite unpredictable.
5) Thanks a lot for setting up a really great tournament for us! IĀ“m already looking forward to the next one. Just send me a PM and IĀ“m in... ;-)

all the game in div 5 have complete, could we have a score tally
if i am not wrong i should be winner of this div
as for your feedback

1) Points system: was it fair? Should there be more emphasis on winning? less?

the point is pretty fair , if you want to improve on it i would suggest the following

6p 10/7/5/3/1/0 ------------------> no change
5p 9/7/5/1/0 ------------------> 9/6/4/2/0
4p 8/5/1/0 ------------------> 7/4/2/0
3p 6/3/0 ------------------> 5/2/0

2) Scheduling: was it too compact? I'm leaning towards 10-14 days between sets instead of 7, since I think at one point I had 14 league games (of my own) going at once.

dont see an issue at all except for non premium member
if you push the schedul longer the tourney would take longer to complete

3) Matchups: in the next generation, I'm thinking to still emphasize divisional play, but also introduce some inter-divisional play as well.

dont think that you should went down this road with the inter-divisional.

4) Choice of settings: should I force people to pick 2 esc and 2 flat? or one esc, one flat, one no card, and one of their choice? I could manage the flow much better that way.

well there should be some element of surprise in the tourney,it best that you control the settings, just ensure that you applied to every div

5) Other....

so far this is one of the top enjoyable tourney i been in, thanks for putting up such a good tourney

Yeah, division 2 is VERY close... however...

85 to win a division? Close call on that, PJ. MAXIMUM score possible in division 2 will be 87... and could, in theory, be as low as 75 for a single uncontested winner!

And I have the sad news to deliver... Gypsys Kiss is mathematically eliminated. :(

Maximum possible score: 71. Allowing inonzuk the single point in their shared game remaining for 71 and the tie, we then turn to the other game... inonzuk would have to get the 0-elimination. Elwar the single point for the 3-way at 71... and then a minimum of 5 points to General Franco for 72... Sorry, GK. :(

It is still VERY much a horse race, though. Heck, I, as the first eliminated, can come up with 65 in a division where 75 could win... gotta be middlin' satisfied with that...

Who can still get 85? The best I can see is Snowman on 81 if he wins both matches.

Btw, you hold great sway on the outcome of our division.

Absolutely right... somehow, my brain fried and I thought inonzuk was still in both games, with a potential 17 to go...

Yes, I can make or break someone's chances... bribery is acceptable... ;)

Or, I can just try to win the one I can... the chips will fall however they have to to give me the best chance at victory...

I'm thinking you will win that match Kinnison, so if I'm right, inonzuk needs to finish first to beat me (regardless of whether I place second or third). That seems not unlikely because nearly every 3p flat rate game I've been in the Oceania/Asia player seems to win.

If he places second its a tie. And if I understand the tie-breaker rules properly, thats a coinflip :P

Okay, I'll admit it looks like I'm going to win 935718, barring some cosmic anomaly at this point... but the order of eliminations did set things up a bit. Assuming I win from this point, Elwar's analysis looks right:

Gypsys Kiss, 63+
Kinnison, 65
Snowman, 65+
inonzuk, 70+
General Franco, 74
Elwar, 75

the + is dependent on game 969295, with possible results of 1, 5, and 8. Players in red are eliminated.

If inonzuk wins 969295, he takes division. Second, tie with Elwar. Third, Elwar takes division.

If I'd wiped General out, then gone for Elwar last... well, irrelevant. I didn't have the force balance to do it that way. But it WOULD have required inonzuk to win the last game for division. As it is, it's still down to the last game. I think that's kinda cool. ;)
