Don't you mean 8-player terminator games? From every map 8 players will advance to Phase 3.

Yes, but players will be placed in groups of 12 - each group containing one player from each map.
Those 12 groups will then be split in half - and voilà, 6-player games.
Duk, please correct me if I'm wrong.

From every of 12 maps it will advance 8 players = 96 players left.
It cannot be put into 12 groups with 6 players but can be put into 12 groups with 8 players.

No, not 12 groups - groups of 12, meaning 8 groups with 12 players in each group.

No, not 12 groups - groups of 12, meaning 8 groups with 12 players in each group.
Eight players advance from each group.
The eight players are ranked within each group, and form a cadre by rank.
First cadre is therefore highest-ranked player in group 1, highest ranked-player in group 2, highest-ranked player in group 3, etc, etc, all the way to the highest-ranked player in group 12.
Second cadre is second-ranked player in group 1, second-ranked player in group 2, etc. etc.
Each cadre is therefore 12 people, and each will play all 12 maps. One each map there will therefore be 2 games for each cadre of 12 players, and the 12 will be distributed differently in each game. They will form two six-player games, but it cannot be called "groups of six" because it is a different permutation of the cadre of 12 each time. (For example first game 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, then second game 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, etc.)
