I hate fags!

I've tried to quit numerous times but the longest I've been able to go without since I got hooked is a week.

I've tried the gum and the patches but these products have done nothing to quench my desires.

Anyone else out there in a similar boat? Any successful quitter? How did you quit?

I'm currently at about a pack a day but I've been as high as 2 packs a day, not that I believe that 1 pack a day is any healthier for me than 2 but maybe it's a start in the right direction.

Oh man- you got me. I totally thought this would be about something different, but then I clicked and it wasn't about what I thought it would be about. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this all too well, but basically I looked at the title of this thread on the forum, and I kind of had a certain set of expectations about what might be contained within the thread. Some of this is because of how the title is often used in a completely different sense of the word. That other sense was kind of what I was expecting before I clicked. Actually, also during the actual clicking and a bit after while the page loaded. I'm not sure if you can fully imagine my surprise at seeing my expectations completely thwarted. If you'd been next to me and seen my expression you would have laughed.

So anyway- you probably don't know this, but "fag" is also a derogatory term for homosexuals, typically male homosexuals. You should be careful in the future- other posters might pick up on that and suggest that you were posting a homophobic word, and attaching a bad justification to it. I can sympathise- in another forum I posted a thread with just the title "Nigger", and I totally wanted it to be a discussion about the name of the dog from the 1955 classic film "The Dam Busters". Unfortunately, it seems that people were not convinced that that was what the thread was about, and took offense at the use of the word "Dam", which I was unaware had a second, potentially offensive meaning.

A little different in your situation, but tread carefully. Others might be less pleasantly surprised by your struggle against fags.

I have a love hate relationship with Fags. I've been sucking on them for years, and loving every moment of it. Once I put one down, it's not an hour later that I want another one. I just couldn't stop. You could even say, I was addicted. I knew it wasn't good for me, but I enjoyed it too much. It got so bad, that at one point, I would be sucking down at least 20 fags a day. Unfortunately there are hidden health risks associated with this activity, and I ended up coughing, really hard. I actually coughed so hard after a fag one day, I thought I had popped a lung. Ended up going to the hospital. Turns out it was just a bruised rib/muscle tissue. When I got home, I vowed never again to suck on a fag. To prove this to myself, and make a statement to myself, I took about 15 fags, covered them in lighter fluid, and set them on fire.

I must admit that now, months later, I still miss them. They taste so yummy, and are so satisfying and rewarding. I long to gently place a fag in mouth, close my lips tight around it and suck to my hearts delight. Sigh. But I can't. Because I know that right now I'm free, but once I have one, just one, I'll be a smoker again, and have to go through the process of quitting all over again. It was hard, and I'm not sure I can do it again.

Explain to me how to get hooked on cigarettes. I've been smoking them pretty consistently (or had been) for about four to six months. Maybe one a day, sometimes more but I only smoked them for fun or when I was blasted out of my mind. Lately I've been a fucking chimney when I get drunk but cravings largely elude me while I am sober minded. IMO theres better things than cigarettes, like cocaine!

I quit smoking cigarettes after 27 years. I used a pill called Champix but is called Chantix in the US.

"fags" in the sense of cigarettes and "fags" in the sense of homosexual both ultimately stem from the same word, "faggot" which means a cord of firewood. The connection with cigarette is obvious: a faggot is firewood, which burns, and a cigarette burns. The connection with homosexuals is more roundabout. At Cambridge University, when buildings were still heated with wood, there was a tradition that the youngest boy would be responsible for bringing in all the firewood for the dorm. He was thus called the "faggot boy." Since he was the youngest and quite likely the weakest, he was also the one most likely to be raped by older students, and thus the connection was established between "faggot boy" and homosexuals. Strictly speaking, it only refers to submissive homosexuals, not dominant ones, but nowadays the lines have gotten blurred.

What's a "douche cousin"? I know what both of those words mean, but that must be an Americanism. I mean I know what a second cousin is, and I'm familiar enough with American culture to know the term "kissing cousin", but "douche cousin" is kind of a new one. Would Americans understand what you meant? Or is it peculiar to your state, or even your community, or perhaps family?

I'm not the only person confused by the term "douche cousin", am I?
