As I said in the PM. I had no idea you cared so much about this. You made an offhand joke that someone misunderstood, understandably, and I called you out on bullshit for your overly arrogant explanation of it.

I genuinely had fun doing it, though much of it, was....creative lets say.

Of course any officer can dismiss any case, and they get their money in advance, it's not like I can appeal or can hold them accountable. At the end of the day they can always use security as an excuse. The USG knows damn well I was in jail and my wife is registered with them. A simple background check on her would show that she spent six years working in the executive office at Luen Thai, whose CEO has pictures with Bush, Obama and Hu up in the headquarters. They could see from her bank records that she earned a very good salary for China and invested it in property, stocks, mutual funds and insurance.

But then again, that assumes that they bother checking, when they don't even need to. At the Guangzhou consulate, the line is down two flights of stairs, out the lobby, across the buildings plaza and along the sidewalk, before getting to the lines inside. The applications are coming from students who are going to pay the world's highest tuitions, investors who have millions and more, specialists in their fields, people coming for conferences and workshops, tourists, spies, etc.

Who should we prioritize and who should we automatically deny? It would seem that we prioritize money. An interesting point, one of the people in prison with me, a lieutenant of Broken Tooth, AKA boss of all bosses, got an investment visa to the US after being released.

It would seem that our life is dictated by the boxes we are able to check. Money? Check. Right this way. Project manager working for the Chinese side of a joint venture with Skechers helping them set up 300 shops in China, wife and mother to an American, needs to walk out of one gate in the airport into to another? Do I feel proud to have such a government and want to pass their values to my son? Not really.

Do I think that we should risk our economic and social security by allowing a flood of people into the country? No, but that's why we require a visa and an interview, so that we can make a fair evaluation. But the interviews are not fair and reasonable. And if some dick gets high on exerting his power over others, we reward him with advancement. I thought being born American gave me unalienable rights, and it does; I have the right to remain silent, or be ignored if I speak, or have it held against me. I have the right to an attorney, even if I don't have the economic incentive to one.
