Without religious beliefs, your avatar wouldn't exist. Serially.

I find it ironic that cayman is complaining about the beliefs that "created" his avatar.

I'm an atheist because I don't see how there could logically be a being "above" us. Though maybe the whole point of religion is that it's not logical … gfy philosophy.

(not that I'm going to slander someone because of their beliefs, unless they throw it in my face, y'know…)

Ok serially, I'll try my best to answer this. Just read this through first, then reread again.

For awhile I didn't believe in God as Christianity defines it, so I went and researched a bunch of other religions which was very refreshing since the one at high school at that time wasn't very exciting. Don't let your opinion in this matter be swayed by just one group's definition of God, so don't convince yourself that there is no God at all. While on this journey, please keep an open mind--don't jump to any conclusions, for you really have no idea. You sound angry, and GOD DAMNIT GET ANGRY AND GO TO THAT WINDOW AND SAY, I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. You know, there are plenty of other different religions with different interpretations of God that you may like more. Zen (Buddhism), Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam are very interesting religions. I wouldn't recommend Islam for you though judging from your current sentiments. :D

God's an interesting thing. And what I enjoy is when people either to try prove or disprove God. It can't be done, so it's an endless debate without sufficient evidence on both sides. Look, if God didn't exist, people would have already invented him anyway, huh? :D No, but I'm kidding and I'm not really. Contradiction is what I'm all about these days. Seriously and not seriously, there's no way you're going to understand God through an intellectual means. An intellectual means is one that depends on... Hmm.. A lot of things. For example, inherent existence, and the notion that if something exists, then it must not not exist. Dualism, right? Using your intellect will run you into a wall on this issue because it's based on some basic notions that will run you into circles, or walls, but it can't get around these types of questions.

An understanding of God or whatever you'd like to call it comes from within. You don't even have to call it God or something God-like, in fact you can call it nothing. But then again, we dipped again into the realm of dualism, and it only provides more confusion.

For me, life's about feeling my fingertips come into contact with the keys as I press them down. It's about being aware of the computer's ability to transfer these simple movements onto letters on this screen. It's about feeling the A/C behind me as it makes my feet cold but the rest of my body feel fine. It's about watching the curtains gently sway in the cooled air. The world's a beautiful and exciting place with so many things going on. I like to walk down the street and smile at my neighbor and say, "Good morning." I like joking around with cashier at the local Harry's Ace. There's the beauty of God, existence, life, and everything in that little instance. The question of god's existence or not is really irrelevant. One can say God exists and doesn't exist at the same time and be completely right--and wrong. From one group's opinion, this statement is right, but from the other side's opinion, it isn't right. There's no ultimate truth here, and there's no way to determine what exists or doesn't exist with that mindset. It's really about revolutionizing the way you think regarding these certain matters.

If you keep rereading this, you won't even get closer to the truth. What you're looking for is already in front of you. It's all about you and your journey. It's about practicing self-awareness and working on one's self, in order to make yourself a good person for everyone. You can't always transform other people, but you can always transform yourself, and in my opinion that's what it's all about. Being a good person. If you listen to yourself, practice self-awareness, you'll get there.

Good luck.

I think that intelligence, it's about Decision making. an intelligent people is who take good decisions. I would not take decisions in such an abstract idea. Thus., the concept of god, is useless for smart people.

No, never mind. You're not worth my time. A bunch of atheists are in here trying to convince you that you should learn to think for yourself, but you just can't bring yourself to do that. I'm sorry that you're just a stupid, ignorant child. I had hope that you might actually listen to reason, but unfortunately you're too stupid for that. Do I sound harsh? Yes, I probably do...think about that for a moment, because I don't tend to be harsh in my posts. You are stupid, ignorant, childa who needs to be soundly spanked on the bottom until your brains finally end up in your skull rather than where they're being spanked. Try to educate yourself, rather than trying to remain a pigheaded, stupid, ignorant child. Go ahead and grow up in ignorance if that is what you choose, but never doubt...you are CHOOSING to remain a pigheaded, stupid, ignorant child. I'm done with you.

i felt that was a bit repetitive so i made the words that were repeated to much red.

p.s. i'm a tennager not a child

You're right and wrong depending on who ya ask, but where does that get us? No where, right? Philosophy's fun as long as one doesn't engage in it too seriously, so I think I understand your "gfy philosophy" standpoint.

It's mostly about one's self. You go and be atheist; I got no qualms about it. Hell, good for you, and I'm not joking or trying to sound like an ass. The problem that many theists fall into is the selfish thought of self-salvation, of going to heaven and that's that. They've got their eyes on the sky while ignoring their surroundings. And about hell: this concept of using fear to scare people into being good and also telling them how to exactly be good, is a bit ridiculous. It's not that hard, just listen to your innerself, and be good. There's no need for these rituals, books, and what not. But hey, if you like those things, then use them. If not, then that's fine!

God can be redefined anyway one likes, so I just redefined him and BAM I got something awesome going on around me. My way of thinking won't sync up with the western idea of God, but no big deal, it's about self-cultivation. Being a good person, spreading the joy of what makes people laugh (sometimes not), and just let the good times roll and roll again. :D (Not CC dice)
