does anyone have this and is all the effort reverting my ipod software worth it to have it?

Think of Linux as grease monkey for everything that you can adjust.

If you have the coding skills, Linux is far better than the other operating systems for everything.

If you need someone else to help you with your computer at any level (ie. I have to ask my brother when things get too technical.) Linux is only a little better.

I think you're insane… You're supposed to buy linux, it's just that it's easier to find by downloading it (strange isn't it?). Also, Firefox isn't made from linux. It's from Mozilla.

You are supposed to purchase the initial copy of Linux.

However it is open source so you are allowed to re-engineer it to fix anything you don't like.

In addition you are legally allowed to just help yourself to it off the internet under the guise of, "I didn't like any of the original features so I got everything from people that changed it to my liking."
