who gives a shit. there are dumb asses that think they are witches, wizards and vampires. I am actually convinced that I am a werewolf. Why shouldn't SP take protection from god if she believes that it will help.

Now if you want to talk about how she is media shy, or about how she fell on that pretty milf face in the Catie Courick interview, then lets do that. But if you want to talk about her faith, or JM's gimpy arms, just shut up already.

I want to talk about her casting counter spells against witches...doesn't that make her a witch too?

I couldn't stomach the full clip you posted. was there something particular that identified as her casting a spell, or praying for protection from spells?

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but the Bible says that believers are "ambassadors for Christ"(II Corinthians 5:20). Has anyone ever heard of an ambassador running for office in the country he is stationed in? Jesus said "my kingdom is not of this world", and yet we have those who profess to follow Him running for political office in the world's kingdom. Contradictory to say the least.

So enough of the Religious Right bullshit - Palin, Bush, Pat Robertson, etc., are all self serving hypocrites who use religion to get votes from the other self serving hypocrites. None of them even read the Bible they profess to believe in. Buncha wankers.

I guess the religious left is exempt from this type of criticism, eh? You know...Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, John Edwards, Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Tony Campolo, Barry Lynn, Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright, etc.

Luns, Luns, Luns, Luns, Luns...you know as well as I that all the gentleman that you have mentioned are devout worshipers of the AntiLuns.

And in response to Black Elk above:

Praying = Spell Casting....I don't see a difference between the two. You ask for magical favors from invisible beings, what is the difference between Spell Casting and Praying? None.

Xians are supposed to oppose sorcery, yet they perform it everyday and, in particular, every Sunday.

"This is my body, take it, and eat it...do this in remembrance of me." (Ding!)<=======SORCERY AND WITCHCRAFT!

Why would you guess that? They're just as hypocritical, and though to you and other right wingers, i seem to be on the left, my left wing constituents accuse me of being on the right. Go figure.

Be that as it may, you took the typical religious right tactic of pointing the finger at someone else, rather than answering the question i posed - cat got your tongue?

Well, you're the one who selectively singled out people on the right side of the political aisle. Had I never mentioned those on the left who engage in it, I doubt you would have brought up the matter.

The Amish and a few others still interpret this that way.

The rest of us look to the passage "give to Ceaser that which is Ceaser's ..." and a few other passages and figure that since we must live here on Earth, it rather behooves us to be involved to the extent it does not violate our personal beliefs...

But the sanest majority also fear a theocracy, even a Christian one, more than ANY secular government.

This is symbolism in most churches, the "magic", which is far greater than any "magic" of earth or such is that Christ died on the cross to save our sins. Though you are correct that a few actually do see the bread and wine as almost magical, this is generally discouraged and considered false doctrine.

black elk speaks wrote:don't be silly. asking god for protection is not the same thing as sorcery. not at all.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic or truthful, but it is true, though there certainly are many within the church who see the religious implements of Christianity to have "magical" powers. The Roman Catholic church has at times even began their missionarism by simply substituting Christian icons for the native ones. (Ironically, this is part of how Mayan culture actually survived in part... they practiced the original rituals, but had simply substituted the Mayan gods and symbols for the Christian ones.). The idea was that the people would first learn to see Christian symbols as holy and then would be brought more fully into Christianity. This was controversial, but it was a method employed.

The real truth is that when "magic" is referenced in the Bible, it is specific to worship against God. Now you have "magic" which is pure fantasy and no bones about it (harry Potter, Santa Claus), "magic" that is illusion (Penn and Teller), "magic" that is a kind of non-Christian or even Christian spirituality with symbols and such (some Wiccans, some Pentacostalists, some ghost hunters, etc...quite the diverse and disparant group) AND you have the other kind, which is a form of Satan or demonic worship (the stuff of exorcisms, horror films, etc).
